Such a cute cookie kit 😍 I really wish we had those here! My Barbie Christmas traditions are watching barbie in the nutcracker every Christmas Eve (also very early in December/late November as a pre build up) 🥰 and barbie a Christmas carol of course a few days before, I also got barbie wrapping paper this year to wrap all my presents for people in lol and I always get a Barbie advent calendar 🩷 This year I finally got my beloved Barbie in the nutcracker doll followed by Prince Eric and they’re both my pride and joys 🥰 I also got a few other vintage Barbie’s. You’re so right, Barbie will always be here no matter what as well as my Disney princesses ❤️ have a wonderful Christmas! I can’t wait to see all your videos in the new year 😊

My doll traditions is I put all my Christmas Barbie movie dolls out (Nutcracker, Christmas Carol, Perfect Christmas, and Pink Shoes: Land of Sweets dolls) along with my holiday Disney dolls and Holiday Felicia doll. I also dress my American Girl Dolls in their Christmas outfits. I also of course watch the Barbie Christmas movies every year ♥️ My collecting goals this year is really going to be focused on Disney dolls and American Girl with some Barbie movie dolls sprinkled in (like Babysitting Adventure, Touch of Magic, Stacie to the Rescue, etc.) I also want the Unicorn Academy dolls and the Bratz Babyz if I can. But my big thing is some doll restorations and making crafts for my dolls, especially customs as that looks like a lot of fun! Happy New Year to you and Shannon and hope your Christmas is magical!

My Christmas movies are Barbie in The Nutcracker, The Grinch, Meet Me In St Louis, Barbie A Christmas Carol and this is a bit of an odd one, but The Nanny's Christmas episode. The Barbie releases have been so uninspiring recently and like you, I have really only enjoyed the Bratz releases. I was so disappointed by the Mean Girls release though and how inaccessible it was for most people.

I always find those type of cookies so hard to decorate - that type of icing never feels like the correct consistency. I personally think you did a really good job aha. My holiday traditions has always been a bit on and off. When I was 7 I started collecting the Holiday dolls with my mum. (courtesy to watching “a Christmas Carol” and seeing that doll in Target a few days later 😂) though, I did stop for a longtime in 2016 as I was really disappointed with her downgraded look. It didn’t help that the stores near my small town stopped stocking them the year before, so I focused on collecting other stuff. It wasn’t until around 2020 when my mum said she had initially wanted to collect them starting with my birth year to my 21st year. That, and the fact that I now find it so interesting to see the quality and design shift over the years became my reasoning to start buying them in 2020. 4 years later, (not including some of my childhood dolls that were played with) I now have all of them in box expect for 2019 🤣 I did start getting into collecting some of the Hallmark ornaments last year; the Barbie movies ones are insanely gorgeous. 🥺 the Christmas Barbie movies are definitely a must watch, always! It’s funny that Bratz Babyz Christmas was the only Bratz movie I never sought out to get or watch, for some reason - I’ll have to give that a proper watch! Merry Christmas to you and Shannon! Good job on the cookies. If that had been me, I would have decimated them all just trying to get them out of the plastic! My only Barbie Christmas traditions are to buy the current year's Holiday doll and matching Hallmark ornament. I was so looking forward to this year's 12 Days of Christmas doll and Bob Mackie Holiday Angel but for some reason, Mattel decided not to release them in Australia. I find that really annoying, especially with the 12 Days of Christmas Barbie, because Myer have stocked her for the past two years running and now we're not getting the third doll in the series which I'm told will also be the last. Why do they do that? They get you hooked on a particular series and then deny you access to all in that series so you end up with gaps in your collection. Unless the dolls come into Australian retailers, I'm not prepared to spend a fortune sourcing them on eBay or Mattel Creations in the US because the shipping is way too much. OK, that was my rant! Always love shelf tours!!! I would love to collect Movie dolls but I don't have the space 😭(plus they are quite expensive!) Maybe someday. I love that you collect not only dolls but merch too. I used to collect like that when I was a kid and moved away from it when I started sharing on the internet. I think I got obsessed with collecting "rare" things even though I didn't really like them and with all my money going on dolls I had nothing left for merch. But I would like to move more in that direction. I think the stories and ideas behind Barbie are more interesting than the dolls themselves and without that it kinda seems empty.

Having watched halfway through the series at the time I’m writing this, here are my thoughts: The Good: I do like the writing and the story of the series. It’s an intriguing as well as a clever mystery. I’m a grown adult and even I am still scratching my head at who horse-napped Pepper. The dialogue writing is also pretty natural and had some funny moments. (Ken and his Aunt in particular made me laugh out loud at some points). And the story does tread on some dark themes like the Barbies are literally hanging over a cliff and it genuinely looks like they might fall to their doom which I thought was pretty gutsy for a show aimed at children but I loved the suspense. It doesn’t shy away from dark undertones so I applaud the writers. I can tell they took the assignment a bit more seriously and with more heart in it. The bad: The animation. This is obvious. Even a few episodes in the art style choices do not get better. It looks like a cross between Tim Burton art style and Sofia the First. And the textures and coloring is off at some points. The movements are fine. My one complaint with Dreamhouse Adventures was sometimes they looked too stiff to me and the movements here feel a bit more natural at least. If sometimes too bouncy but not enough to annoy me. On the fence: I do feel like the Barbie’s personalities are different from the other shows. I don’t know if it’s because it’s a different production company. Malibu is not as anxious and accident prone, but doesn’t have as much agency in a lot of the scenarios and not standing up for herself as often. Brooklyn is still Type A but more zen but now she has a lot of anxiety between the horses to dark passageways. She also is the idea girl more with her podcast she has going on and jumping into stuff without thinking. Just some observations. I agree with you guys about how Mattel approaches Barbie. A lot of the dolls are not high quality and definitely are aiming at younger kids. They can all blend in together for me. I’m really focused on the movie dolls and lines like Extra, Dream Besties, and the new Deluxe style. Some fashionistas I like here and there. I dunno, I like my fashion dolls to have a bit of flair. And you would think with the success of the Barbie Movie Mattel would see how much we like Barbie as she is and they don’t have to try too hard to dim Barbie’s spotlight, personality, and style. If they could see Barbie is already a great role model, pink and all, and embraced it instead of trying to dumb it down with having an art style for the show that just doesn’t match the Barbie brand.

Always so upsetting to see the lack of creativity, originality, care and attention to detail in media these days 🫤 Its also sad, to your point, about modern children who lack the attention span so these companies are just pumping out whatever is most colourful to make money😩 I heard this animation is different because they switched companies for this one, I hope they switch back soon 🙏🏻

Agreed!! I will always absolutely adore Barbie but this new series yikes! To me 80s-00s Barbie will always be the superior nowadays the animation babysit cheap and ugly, the soundtracks as you say are very childish and just silly and the storylines are just plain boring 🙁 Sorry I know you said get with the times but 😂

Couldn’t agree more with you both! I honestly feel like I’ve turned into a “causal fan” in terms of both Barbie and animation media in the past few years. Only really tuning in 100% if something catches my eye (“Touch of Magic” is a FANTASTIC example of being a diamond in the rough), otherwise? I’ll just check it out later when I’m absolutely bored and there’s nothing else to watch if I can find it. Which, same as you both said, is depressing to think about since that was never a thought process before. No wonder nostalgia has been on an extremely overrated boom these last few years that even for those who are simply jumping into the bandwagon (“Princess & the Pauper is better” I lol’ed so hard at that! It’s true 🤣). Because if we, the people whom as adults that put so much of our time and passion into loving and caring about animation and these things that are “just made for kids” - are feeling this modern day effect to this heavy extent? Then it must be a *serious* issue if outsiders are reacting so deeply also - when they never even cared about acknowledging our interests before. It’s so interesting to witness the downfall of so many that have lost their initial storytelling values and messages, and yet so tragically frustrating at the same time. Here’s hoping that *someday* there might be a sliver lining for animation’s future. “Things will get worse before they can get better.” 🙏🩷

Totally with you on hating everything modern. I wish I could rewind by at least a few decades! Quality has gone down hill and that's why I'm such a huge thrifter/antiquer. Great video! Good to see you both together again!!

Such a cute phone! I’ve seen a lot of parents buying it for their tweens and teenagers, and it’s such a wonderful idea. I did hear that Big W might be selling them as well. As an introvert at heart, I’ll love to get my hands on one myself soon aha. All the added accessories to personalise it is such a genius move. 🩷

I bought the phone recently. I still haven't put a sim in it though because I have been obsessed with Malibu Snake. I didn't think the instructions for the sim were all that clear. The instructions talk about sim 1 and sim 2 plus the memory card. What am I supposed to put in this thing to make it work for calls, texts, and the internet? Do you have any advice? Thanks!

Loved seeing your favourite films. I actually watched Pegasus the other month. First time since it first came out! It was SO adult in comparison to her other films. I liked it a lot but Nutcracker, Rapunzel and Princess and the Pauper will forever be my top 3. I guess because they came out when I was a kid and they really added to the magic of the Barbie world. I am LOVING that jumper BTW! 😍

I love all your choices! My favorite is Barbie of Swan Lake! I love Odette, and especially the pretty music during the movie! Though I think every Barbie Movie has an amazing sound track for the most part, its definitely one of their defining features~ 💖

I just finished rewatching Princess Charm School when I saw this was uploaded 🥰 this was a wonderful list. Magic of Pegasus is my absolute favorite. Some of these I haven’t even seen yet (like Dolphin Magic) but I’m really excited now to look them up.
