Bacon's lodge Adventures
Hi, I am Josh Bacon. I am a jack of all trades and I like to make different things. Most of what I know comes from my years of experience. On this channel I will show my projects and adventures, both successful and not.
I'll do some woodworking, sawmilling, building, mechanic work, homestead type stuff, but I'm not a homesteader, and whatever else comes up in my life, I think someone else may enjoy watching.
The name Bacon's Lodge comes from my idea that a lodge is a meeting place for people to come together and enjoy each other. It is also what I call our cabin in Northern Wisconsin. I hope this becomes a lodge of helping and fun. . I know that I may not do everything the right or safe way but this is a what I'm doing not a how to channel.

Fixing my Bobcat 753 crawling, or creeping.

In this video I fix my Bobcat 753. It likes to drive by it self and is very jerky when driving. I also break extra parts and have to fix that too. I believe this would work for any of Bobcats from that era. #diy, #skidsteer, #repairing, #bobcatequipment, #bobcat753

Building a carpenters work bench part 1

I built a heavy-duty carpenters bench. Using rough cut lumber and 6 by 6 timbers. Adding lifting casters making it easy to move. This is the first part in the next episode I will smooth the top and finish. @Baconslodge #diy, #toolshop, #workbench, #woodworking, #diytools

Testing out the smallest skid steer I have ever seen. The OMC Mustang 310. The machine is more capable than you might think. Thank you for checking it out as always, I appreciate it. I’ll see you next time. #funny, #skidsteer

Nice tip, really like the clamps, going to get some soon.thanks again.

Excellent video, I have the same machine I’m working on currently, how did you bypass the seat sensor in order to operate the machine with the cab tilted back
I didn't, mine was able to drive slowly before I fixed this. You could try lowering the bar before you lift the cab. I started it with the cab up. Which is fun. Thanks for watching
Welp! New subscriber! Thank you… you dont even want to know how many videos I have watched about this 😅 quick simple and very well explained! So many made it to complicated or overwhelming. I’ve got just enough walnut to make a couple. Ridiculously hard to find black walnut in a rural area like mine😢 I’ve had my epoxy for just over a year 🤦🏼♀️ hope its still good now that I’m ready and you’ve built my confidence to do it! 🙃☺️🤪. Again, THANK YOU!💙. By the way.. Just curious as to how much you sell these for in your area.
Thank you for watching. It has been years since I priced one out I just made them for family and friends. Enjoy making some.
Deep dive diagnostics work, well done.
Thanks. It works much better now
Great video! I will be making some of these out of a live edge walnut slab I have in the shed. Subscribed!
Thanks for watching. The live edge is nice.
Honestly best video on this subject matter
Thank you very much I appreciate it. Have a great weekend
Keep going!...you are going to do great a Youtubing!
Thank you for the encouragement, I truly appreciate it.
Does it heat the cabin pretty good?
Yes, we have it in a 2400 SQ ft area. It takes about a day for every thing to get warm if it below freezing. But once it's going it maintains really well set between 2 and 3. Burns about a bag and a half a day.
Good job. I like the comments on the epoxy. Too many folks wouldn’t recognize the harm with cutting over the filled areas. Might recommend flipping the board and finishing the other side, and not using epoxy on any serving board. Hate for any customer or family member getting sick.
Thanks for watching. I did put most of the larger areas on epoxy on the bottom when I could.
Nice workbench and nice video. I built a couple of small workbenches over the past 45 + years and they all were made to be functional. The last one end up being made from oak off my father’s farm and some hickory I bought. It’s just under 3 1/2 inch thick and it’s rock solid. Your bench will serve you well. Enjoy!
Thanks for watching, I happy with it so far
The size is also s70 bobcat but cutted back so wheres the muffler its impossible to move a skid steer without a muffler
Thank you for watching. I didn't know bobcat made one this small
This is awesome!
Thanks for watching
Dude. Imperfections give it character. Just look at me 😂. Seriously, no matter how hard any of us try, we are not perfect and neither is what we create. The thing is, is you don’t have to point them out. Repairing a few flaws in the material is great and mastering the craft. Most would probably use epoxy. Honestly, I like the creative ideas that don’t follow the main stream. It’s a work bench, out of trees you cut and milled, that is awesome. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching. I try to point out the mistakes so others can see them and how I fix them. Thanks for reaching out. Thaveva great day
Nice bench - love the pocket to drop your tools in. Cant tell you how many times I've turned a board around and knocked off my drill and broken a bit.
Thanks I found it when I looking for a style to build.
That’s the right way to say it. Not to far from where Lauren works!!
Thanks, and thank you for watching.
Pretty sure you said Owatonna right from how I’ve always heard it. That’s where I did my student teaching.
Thanks, Jeff and I tried to figure it out.
Now we got some cruise ship asmr
thanks
Thank you for the view. From what I read on this model there is only one row of brick standing up long wise. So the heat can escape on the sides. The baffles on the top are suspended to be left need up like I have them I believe.
Hey nice video I just got a new place and This is my first year burning with the same burner you have. The people before have the two baffle pieces stacked on top of each other in the back part, should I leave it like that or put it like you have it? Also there is only a single row of firebrick lined up at the bottom. Is that enough or does the whole inside need to have firebrick?
Thanks for watching
Love the gate! Nice job.
Thanks! You can come see it this winter.
I never thought you could use a router to do that. I thought you had to use a planer.
@@espoyellowjackets7335 if you want to try. You can make a simple setup with a wood box and have it slide across two level boards. With a smaller bit. But this works very well with larger material.
