11.06 Upper Changi Road 6-7 miles is actually where chai Chee is today, not Bedok reservoir, although a close guess. In fact Chai Chee Drive is Upper Changi Road but was renamed in the 80s to incentivice motorists to use the New Upper Changi road instead. The clinic near Ulu Bedok village from 7 mile Changi is still at the same location now. It is called sata commhealth.

me born in Singapore.

My life in Singapore began in 1947 although my father bought our Kampong house of Trafalgar Estate just before the start of the Japanese occupation of Singapore. He had the option of staying at Mental Hospital (Woodbridge Hospital) Quarters but instead opted to buy a kampong house. Life was difficult but somehow, we enjoyed such challenging life.

At 01:35 there is a shot labelled "Taj Cinema". I think this is actually the Singapura Cinema in Geylang Serai. Saw way too many Hindi movies there!

My grand parents are from Pulau Seringat( Rengit) then move to Lazarus Island(Pulau sekijang pelepah)...

So nostalgic,the music and all. I was born in 1950, brings back my childhood memories......sad the S'pore I grew up in is long gone....forever! The S'pore we know today is beautiful.....wish we were big enough land wise that we do not need to bulldoze the beautiful old S'pore!

I love Singapore I was there from 1965-1967. I lived at Changi and learned to play guitar in local bands. I met guys like The Quests - very fond memories.

Not to mention the very folksy nostalgic music that goes with it in the background. Kudos to the late Kartina Dahari of the Ambassador Hotel (Katong) days. Majulah Singapura!

Singapore was the centre of Malay films production and music of the Malay peninsula in the 50s/60s. Only after separation from Malaysia in 1965 that everything changed. The many ships you see attests to the importance of Singapore since then. In fact crude rubber from British Malaya were despatched down to Singapore to be graded (RSS codes), loaded on ships and exported to tyre and other manufacturers around the world. Also most if not all crude oil were brought to Singapore for refining at Shell Pulau Bukom or refined into kerosene and other petroleum products. In fact southern Malaysian of State of Johore depended on Singapore for its refined petroleum products especially petrol into 2000s. (the nearest in Malaysia being Port Dickson). In fact, (at one time) Singapore controls the skies of civilian aircraft movements in Malaysia and parts of Indonesia. I could go on and on.

I was born in singapore in 1960. In 1970, I moved to Malaysia. I lived in Clementi Estate from 1960-1970. I went to Sekolah Melayu Wessex Estate (SMWE), Singapore. Since moving to Malaysia, I haven't seen my school friends anymore. I realy want to meet them. If you have friends who went to school at SMWE Singapore in 1969, standard 3, at that time, please dm me. I have too many memories in Singapore. Thanks for this video.

I couldn’t bear to see Singapore today! I lived with my parents in Johore Bahru in the early 50’s and we often shopped in Singapore. My memories for Malay and Singapore are still vivid and so to return would be unbearable. They say one should never go back and I do believe this to be true, unless you are prepared, emotionally, for the huge changes. Keep your memories intact, for once disturbed they will become the proverbial house of cards.

Used to live at Lorong Engku Aman, Singapura 14 when I was a kid along with Nek Bibah.
