My First Blackwood Gold
มุมมอง 4912 ปีที่แล้ว
Went to check out a couple of spots around Blackwood area and managed a nice quartz specimen, crushed it at home to see what was inside.
GPX 6000 Gully Gold
มุมมอง 1.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Returned to a gully I have been working and getting gold from, I've been tinkering with different setups to run the SteelPhase SP01 enhancer and trying out my new Rode Wireless Go II mic for the first time, you'll see and hear how unfit I am lol.
Last Trip for 2021 with GPX 6000

Headed out camping on Boxing Day with the Wife and 2 dogs for our last prospecting trip for this year. The weather was great on Sunday and Monday but got a bit warm the last 2 days.

Crushing Specimens with new Stumpy Picks Junior Dolly Pot
มุมมอง 2104 ปีที่แล้ว
I received my new Stumpy Picks Junior Dolly Pot this week so thought I'd do a quick video crushing some specimens I'd been saving for a rainy day. Great piece of gear to have in the kit bag on detecting trips, even fits in the back pocket and means you can easily crush your quatz specimens in the field. Made from 304 stainless it means no more rusty shards of steel ending up in your pan. Dan th...
Post Lockdown Gold

Finally out and about again after lockdown, a fun couple of days exploring a few new spots.
First detect with my new 12x8 Evo
มุมมอง 6715 ปีที่แล้ว
Had a quick 2 hr detect today with my new 12x8 evolution coil, the ground is shallow with hot reef rock everywhere, was very surprised by the depth on this small piece of gold. I didn't video from the start because the ground is very hot and I thought it was another hot rock until down in the red clay.
Fathers Day Gold Monster bash
มุมมอง 1805 ปีที่แล้ว
I spent Fathers Day out trying a new area with the Gold Monster 1000, the weather held out for most of the day and ended up with 1 picker, 4 specie's and 3 kinda surprises as well as around 30 lead shot.
New Gippsland Creek Project, Day 1 & 2.
มุมมอง 3135 ปีที่แล้ว
Brendan and I have started a new project on a creek in Gippsland, the aim is to find the pay layer and process as much of this section of creek as possible over the coming months and hopefully find a good pocket or two with a nice surprise. A big shout out to Dustin from Gold Rat Highbankers for the prompt supply of the header box and leg kit for my 8" bare bones sluice, we decided to convert t...
Minelab Gold Monster 1000, what a magic little beast.
มุมมอง 4425 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi guys, this is just a quick follow up from my last video and also a quick clip from a trip yesterday, first gold in this area where I have previously tried with the GPX4500 with no success until now.
Gold Monster 1000, Mullock Monday!
มุมมอง 2115 ปีที่แล้ว
I managed another 3 hr detect after work on Monday at my fav Gold Monster area, also trying out the new Detect-Ed LS Carbon Shaft I bought and must say I love it, feels so much lighter than stock. All up I got the 4 pieces of gold, 13 buckshot, some foil and a nail standing on it's end at 8" deep. Great arvo session and first time my right shoulder hasn't been aching in a long time, BIG thanks ...
Old spot, new Gold Monster 1000.
มุมมอง 10K5 ปีที่แล้ว
I purchased the Minelab Gold Monster 1000 two weeks ago and this is my third trip out with it. The previous day I had one hour to spare between jobs and was near an area I'd spent 6 trips over past 4 years with 3 other detectors and never found gold. Yesterday I found my first gold for the Monster and first gold for this location, both of which I attribute to my mentor " Minelab Gold " whom I'm...
Finally broke in my 15" evo coil
มุมมอง 1235 ปีที่แล้ว
Well, it's the only coil I haven't found gold with and it's taken 18 months to do it, but today we found the first bit with the 15" evo.
How do you find the 6000 over the 5000?
G'day Mick, for me it's so much better than my 4500, it's lighter weight so easier on my shoulder and very basic settings means not second guessing my settings like before, it definitely sniffs out the smaller bits at good depth but it also means finding more lead shot, but I'm definitely finding more gold with it, so for me it was well worth getting it👍
Good video Pete. Just waiting for this hot weather to go so I can get back out.
Hi there Pete!, good to see your still going. I'm just back into it after two years of laying low. I found some nice little pieces last weekend but looking forward to heading out west again when it cools down.
G'day Mick, HNY mate and great to hear you're getting back into it. I haven't been out as much as I'd like (same old story) but hopefully catch up for a trip soon mate, take care 👍
Good stuff mate, nice piece 👍. Is that Blackwood in Victoria? Lovely part of the world
Hi Brad, yes Blackwood in Vic.
I’m hardened by this Pete
You're welcome mate and I was hardened when I first heard it too 😜
@@prospectorpete7005 Haha loves it
@@120downunder I'm always hardened
@@davidpengelly7184 oh I know
Hey pete’ good to see you on the gold 👍 I’m taking a month off in oct. Get yourself a air mesh realtree long sleeve wear a wife basher under it, comfy as... best protection against bush pest scoping your patch, probably slow the panter and puffing down too 👍😃
Hey Lukeozdigger good to hear from you mate, hope all is well. Changed jobs at end of May and haven't been out since but hoping to get back out soon. Yep the huffing and puffing will probably give me away more than being seen lol, think I need to do some more exercise and work on the cardio a bit more.
@@prospectorpete7005 you still need to plan a trip up this way just to finish a spot off, bought a boat lakes full easier access 😀 warm weather round the corner build some holidays up 👍
@@lukeozdigger5730 Will do bud, definitely try to get there this season.
That 6000 sounds nice almost tempted to sell my 4500 .
Nice little tally buddy, gotta love it picking up its someone has inspected before lol, looks like some good ground too plenty of hours of fun to be had.
Hi GM, yep I think finding gold in a spot someone else has had a scrape at is more satisfying to me. There's plenty more ground here to cover so the fun will continue for sure.
hi mate Love waching your show just both my gpx 6000 just wondering what is the best setting for this detector
@@maryjanehuya8943 Hi MaryJane, I know of people that run it in Auto with the threshold on and swear by it, some run it in manual and a higher setting of say 6-10 and swear by it also, they all find good gold at depth. I personally run mine in hot mineralized ground in Difficult, manual 1-4 depending on the ground, I have also been successfully running it in Normal manual 3-4 in another area where the ground is more consistent and not as many hot rock and finding small gold at better depth. In this video I was running in Difficult, manual 2. The Wednesday afternoon prior to this video there was more EMI interference and ran it in Difficult, manual 1 and still found 9 small pieces of gold with no problem. I believe that running it too high for the ground just introduces more noise and makes it jittery so making it harder to hear the deep faint targets, and running it at a lower level where the threshold is smother allows those faint targets to be heard, so it's a case of less is more. You just need to adjust it to the ground you are detecting, start off in difficult 3 and if it is running smooth after 10 minutes then try bumping up the manual settings until it gets jittery then back it off until it's at a comfortable level for your ears. Headphones are definitely better than the speaker too, sometimes I'll hear a faint target through the headphones and if I change to the speaker I really struggle to hear the same response . There is no "best" setting so you just need to play with it for the first 10-20 mins and see what you're most comfortable to run at and don't get sucked into thinking if you drop the setting too low you'll miss targets, I personally believe the opposite is true with the 6000. Oh and the 6000 takes a good 10-20 mins to settle in so turn it on before you get the rest of your gear ready then when you start to detect do a noise cancel and you should be good to go. Good luck out there and I hope this helps you a bit 👍
@@prospectorpete7005 many thanks in advice im heading to clearmont for the two weeks on school holiday hope to find a few to show the kids many thanks again hope you have a good holliday happy hunting
@@maryjanehuya8943 hope you have a successful trip but most of all hope you have fun while out there, have confidence in you methods and gear, the hardest thing is finding the first piece, then it get easier as you build confidence. Happy hunting too mate 👍

Hey Cookie, thanks mate and we'll definitely get out soon mate. I miss seeing the Rocket Man in action 😅

Nice hunt buddy, I didn't get a notification for this one lol,
Thanks mate, I forgot to send notification when I published it, I'll make sure I do it on the next one.
@@prospectorpete7005 it should do it automatically.
Good to see you're still going Pete, I was only thinking last month how you were. Been too busy at home to get out. Hopefully towards the end of April I'll be hitting the West again as I've just about caught up on all the renos. Nice machine too !
Hey Mick, good to hear from you mate, yep still getting out when I can and our renos are still only half done lol, I just can't seem to get motivated to finish them but slowly slowly I'll get there. Love the new 6000 and how light weight it is, easy to use and producing the goods 9 out of 10 trips, almost found as much with it in 6 months as I did with the 4500 in 4 years so pretty happy with that.
Very cool!
Some nice little nuggets would love to hunt for gold on my bucket list
Great video Pete. that 6000 finds smaller bits at good depth. Well done mate.
Thanks mate, great machine at cleaning up what others missed.
Good stuff Pete smashing it Happy new year champ 👍
Hey Cookie, HNY mate. Hope you are well and looking forward to a catch up soon mate 👍

Thanks Pete, you have a great New Years and fingers crossed we can get out more in 2022 👌
Few nice bits there mate, great to see another vid, and that you're still getting on the gold, happy new year.
Happy New Year Balx, great to hear from you mate, bring on 2022.
Well done Mate.. Well happy New Year.. Cheers Famo59 👍🍻⛏🤓
Thanks Famo, you have a HNY and lets hope we can get out more in 2022 🤞
Very nice mate🤠
Great video mate. I'm considering getting one of these. I have a GPX4500 and an equinox 800 but the monster looks great at getting that tiny stuff most guys miss.
Hi R&O, I also had the 4500 when I had my GM1000 (recently upgrade to the GPX6000) and the GM1000 was great in the more mild areas like quartz reef and pipeclay, it would clean up the little bits that were too small for the 4500, great fun machine that you don't need all the heavy gear for.
@@prospectorpete7005 Hi Pete, Thanks for the reply mate. How do you like the 6000? I'm tossing up between it and the 7000. You have a safe xmas and holidays mate. Cheers.
@@RockAndOre I sold my 4500 and GM1000 to fund the 6000 and I'm glad I did as it finds bits down to as small as the 1000 at better depth and hits the bigger .8's .9's deeper than the 4500 can detect, I've gone back over old ground where I couldn't pull a target with the 4500 but have found a few bits the 6000 heard. Haven't got anything bigger yet but very confident that it will have no issue finding the bigger stuff at depth. The main reason I upgraded to the 6000 was the weight and sensitivity, I would have loved the 7000 but I was struggling with the 4500 at times with my bung shoulder issues. If you can handle the weight of the 7000 then go for it but if it gets tiring after 2-3 hours the the 6000 is the go, so much lighter than the 4500 but really easy to use. I'm heading out on Boxing Day for a 5 day trip detecting, should hopefully put together another video of the trip and show what the 6000 can do. Take care and have a great Chrissy mate.
@@prospectorpete7005 Thank you for the info mate, I have not chatted with anyone that has actually used one until now. Sorry to hear about your shoulder tho mate and I truly hope you have a great 5 day trip on the gold and find some big nuggets. Cool if your mates dressed in period clothing it could be 100 year's ago. Apart from the steam blower 😊
Yeah nice one buddy, it's a great little dolly. Good amount of colour you ended up with too.
G'day GM, I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of colour in the species, I'm back out chasing some more after work tomorrow and Tuesday with the Monster.
Hey hey Mr Pete, so good to see that amazing gold come out of your species mate Simply great to watch and yep she's a good pot hey buddy. Hi Graham, it sure it mate. It'll be perminantly in my kit bag for sure.
Good job pete. The well known creek you where at has been hit hard, but from a bit of research I've done, it appears to be fed by a conglomerate further up the hill to the east. Thats what the old timers were chasing. Lets hope they didnt get it all. Hevey rain should in theory replenish the creek. Been enjoying your videos and insight.
