I don't have a golf nor my imaginary golf needs a timing chain fix
Well, That is good?
Hi, can this be done in the car? A4 so it’s at the back. Thanks.
Replacement of the chain and tension absolutely can be done while it is in the car. I have another video on it in the car, but it was hard to film to show how it was done. Thanks for watching.
Stop with this stupid music
New fear unlocked, bluetooth bushings and other necessary mechanical parts
Mmm go to ls customs they can fix you up
Haha, this thing needs a junk yard.
Ok on mine the code is p1630 short to positive, is that an injector or something else?
A p1630 is a throttle pedal code. I would get a scan tool that gives you live data and check that it is reading correctly. Can also try and set basic settings if you have a vag type scanner like the one from Ross tech. Thanks for watching.
@ I’m sorry my codes are p1613 short to positive
I also have a hard to start, after sitting for a day or two unless I spray some starting fluid in air intake tubing, it used to start if I cycled the key about six or so times and it would start. Is this caused by injectors?
Is this caused by the injectors?
Should check the output of your fuel pump. Could be causing the hard start as well.
If I have a code of short to positive is that talking about injectors?
Fast forwarding through unbolting the transmission was not the play bro
If you can not figure out how to unbolt the transmission I would suggest having someone else replace the clutch. Thanks for watching.
Just out of curiosity were there actually any bent valves when they are on the table they look straight. My tensioner and chain busted I did a compression test on all cylinders and they passed but worried there still could be other damage
Yes, There were bent valves. I have taken apart so many VW and Audi turbo engines. I have never seen one that did not bend at least one valve after a failure. I would often take the valve out, and chuck it in a drill so I can spin it. Its an easy way to see if its bent. Even a slight bend will not seat correctly and will burn the valve seat up very fast if not replaced. Thanks for watching, and good luck.
How has the chain held up?
Chain held up fine, strange enough the guides failed after a year. I like the Clotes stuff but I was surprised that it failed so quickly.
@@willpoweredgarage969 damn thats why i asked because cloyes has always been good but i’ve heard they’ve been declining in quality over the years. Im doing this job in 2 weeks i need to make sure its quality lol good video though thanks for giving me an insight and im definitely gonna make a homemade timing chain tool lol
never messed with automotive but it seems to be like a inboard dayton with an axel like on a container trailer . while i don't have a lot of experience with auto i do with those . thanks for the video so i know what to expect for the jam nut . P-S you got so lucky with those seals they normally come apart . we tended to go back with a new one every time . we also used that opportunity to inspect bearings for any kind of heat damage or wear 10/10 great video
Well, I have to admit that I ended up having to replace one of the seals afterwards. Thanks for watching.
Great video! Thanks
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!

Might as well have been.

The top bolt on the caliper is impossible to remove, I rounded perfect round.
Yeah, if its the first time they Loctite them from the factory. A little heat on the bolt will loosen it up and will come out much easier.
Great video, I had exactly the same issue, front blower wasn't working, after watching your video went straight to the relay, opened him up and there it was, a crusty solder joint, went over it with new solder and all of the other large joins, stuck the relay back in and hey presto the blower is working again. Your a star, thanks very much for sharing your vid...👏👊
Hey there, Thanks for the kind words and watching. These vans are getting hard to find parts so being able to fix parts is very helpful. Thanks for watching and glad it helped you out.

Hey, Thanks for the kind words. SO the timing chains should last the life of the engine. But I can tell you from experience that the guides start to get brittle and can break usually around 130,000 miles or 210000 kilometers. If you hear any strange rattling at first start up you might want to consider replacing the setup.
Amazing video man thank you for passing us so much of knowledge!!!
Thank you for the kind words, and for watching.
Great video man! Starting on my C7 A6 tomorrow. Got the car for 500 bucks
Nice score, Good luck!
For those of us who don't speak commie, how many ft pounds on that cam adjuster bolt???
LOL use google my friend. Anyway, 20nm to ft lbs is 14.751 ft- lbs plus 45 deg. Thanks for watching.
Just use your skill, it’s an m6 bolt ffs
Excellent, quick, and shows every step with needed comments

Hi i have a problem with my 3.0 v6 diesel a6 low oil pressure when car stays 7+ hours and there is little sound like a vibration a second after the car cranks and when it makes the sound it gives low pressure light after a sec car works fine no sounds no nothing, changed battery oil filter sensor cleaned pan and mechanic said that pump is ok, should i get chain kit or look at something else?
Awesome video! Thank you!!
Thank you for watching.
all that work and not changing the oil pump might bite u in the butt melting makes and excellent oil pump hv other wise nice job bro
Sometimes I can only replace what the customer wants to spend for. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Thank you for this video! It’s incredibly informative and helpful! A few things we noticed after changing our front breaks (working on the rear ones asap) is the break fluid overflowed after compressing the caliper. It’s a good idea to have some kind of cardboard or something down in case this happens. I guess air can build up and cause pressure to push the fluid out. If this happens there are how-to tips available online to correct the issue. Break fluid needs to remain contaminant free, so use caution it’s also very bad for your skin, so wear gloves (and I recommend eye protection for anytime you’re working on areas that could get particulates in your eyes). Anyway, thank you again!! 😊
Thanks for watching and tips. Hope it was helpful for you. Few notes. Over time as the pads wear the caliper moves out further and therefore requires more fluid in the reservoir, otherwise it can trigger a light on the dash. When you compress the caliper back to its full in position the fluid needs to go somewhere. So its not air in the system, its the fluid that was added as the brakes were wearing down. Air in brake systems is bad. Just replacing the brake pads and rotors should not require opening of the brake system. If the reservoir is filling up to the point of overflow a simple turkey baster works well to remove some fluid. Again, thanks for watching and the comment!
in my case the problem (oil pressure warning on idle) was dirty vvt adjuster/magnet! Litle bit of parts cleaner sprayed in each hole and problem is solved!!!
That's a great find. Has the problem stayed away?
What kit did you use
I used all dealer factory parts.
Dude this thing is wildddddd, 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 awesome job so far man, really cool
Hey, Thanks for watching. I have more to edit nd post up. Thanks for watching.
Thanks
Thank you for watching!
Did you do an alignment after this job? I’ve done full struts in the past when I lifted a legacy wagon, but if I’m just going to install the overload springs on the rear of my outback like you did here would you recommend alignment? Many thanks.
Technically you should get an alignment anytime you remove any suspension components. I however did not. Thanks for watching
hi im going to try the same job on my vw golf mk6 cayc engine on the repair manual it says to use T40094 AND T40095 AND T40096 i google up the price there looking for 300 dollars do you think the job could be done without the tool thanks that was a absolute cracking video
Yes, I have done this job many times and have never used the tool. Just take your time and make sure everything goes down evenly. Also, make sure to use the correct sealant and quantity. Thanks for watching.
@@willpoweredgarage969 thank you
You forgot to put a little axle grease in the hub before you installed it !!!
Thanks for the tip.
great video! sounds crazy simple BUT that rear main seal is a BEAR, could you share how you did that?
Unfortunately, it is just that. If you follow my video, I show how the service manual points out how to modify the alignment dowel. This does help, but it is still not easy. Thanks for watching.
Can you put some links to ALL the parts you used for this kit. Or a link to the complete kit, so i can purchase what you have? Thanks! Great instructional video btw.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
@@willpoweredgarage969 can you put some links to the parts so I can buy them for my outback
Could I ask for the manual you used? Doing this on my gti rn my exhaust valves are shipped on the top gotta love German cars lol
It's called Elsapro. Unfortunately, you must be a service tech at a dealer to have access to it.
Great video! I am planning on doing the timing belt and water pump on my 06 A4 with a 2.0T in a month. Should I remove the spark plugs to make the engine rotate easier to find TDC on #1? I am a little hesitant to do so because I do not want the camshaft sprocket to move while I am in the process of changing the timing belt.
I don't usually take the plugs out. As long as things are at TDC when the belt comes off I will usually just turn the crank back a few deg so if the cam jumps it will not damage the valves. Just make sure the crank is back in time when installing the belt. Also, if you follow my technique of marking the belt before removal everything should line up perfectly in time. Good luck and thanks for watching.
with the help of your great video I got most everything done but now I want to torque the the six bolts on the crankshaft pulley. They were incredibly tight taking off, I had to use an air impact. Can you explain the torque method please. Also should I get new bolts? I understand the original are one time use and stretch bolts. Torque to yield?
Can you share the link for the tech service bulletin
Hard to find a link, But i put the whole tech bulletin in the description. Thanks for watching.
Hello! First of thank you for the video, it's been very helpful. I just have one question, on minute 9:30 aprox. I see that when you remove the timing cover, there's some coolant falling down, is there any risk for that coolant to get mixed with the oil? or maybe to fall into the oil pan? if so, is there any way to avoid this? Thanks
Thanks for watching and the comment. Any time I do a big repair like this that can introduce dirt and debris into the engine, I always change the oil. That goes for the coolant that usually gets in there as well. I like to leave the oil in until the engine is all back together. Then, I will drain it all out and replace it with fresh oil. Hope this helps.
you took the nut off by hand and installed it with a hammer?!
You Gotta be kidding me do you want people to understand what you’re doing and you have it on fast forward what a joke
Hey, Thanks for watching and the kind words.
hi done mine could you please tell me does the injection pump need to be in time the reason i ask because i watched another video and lad said the injection pump just need to put timing peace in that it helps time the belt. no i have black smoke coming out of exhaust when i put the foot down and the car seems to take of nice and fast but when i get up to 50 maybe 60 km it kind of a lot slower geting up let say 100 km what your side on this. Great video
So, If you are just replacing the belt I do not ever have to set the injection timing. But its also why I show using a drill bit to lock the pump from moving and mark everything with a paint pen. If the timing needs to be adjusted, You will need a scan tool that shows the injection timing and make adjustments until it is in spec. If you have a Ross-Tech VCDS they have a plug in called "TDI Timing Checker. Its a graph that shows where the timing is and makes it very easy to set it to spec, or tune if you have any performance mods, or just looking for some better fuel economy. Thanks for watching, Cheers!
Thanks for the video and your time for explaining all the steps!
Thanks for watching and the comment.
@willpoweredgarage Hey we just did this job and one of the screws on the passenger side broke off into the frame do you have any suggestions on what to do next? We can’t screw the last screw in due to broken screw
Also it is the front end
Unfortunately the only way to take care of this would be to drill out the broken screw. Assuming it is flush with the subframe. If there is any bit of it sticking out you can try and use locking pliers, like vise grips and a bit of heat to break the rust and it will come right out. Good luck and thanks for watching.
See my other response.
