On this channel we will be working on all things engine related! I'll be sharing my passion of turning wrenches with the public and hopefully we can both learn some things along the way. The way technology is exponentially growing by the day we can never stop learning. From single to eight cylinders over time I'll be rebuilding, modding, (tuning in the future hopefully soon) and breaking them all and looking forward to sharing my experiences along the way!

Welcome to Flippo’s Garage!! In this video im converting from the 1234yf to 134a refrigerant on a 2016 Honda Pilot but this is the same process for 2016 to 2020. There are many questions surrounding this topic and after weeks and weeks of research i decided to try it out. Many questions are, is this even possible? Which refrigerant is better? Is this even legal? In this video i hope to lay most...

Yeah, interesting market tactic having your video demo be deliberately impractical. There's probably a reason he didn't record using it on the car he was standing over.
@@mitchellmiller5064 for sure, I bought a couple pairs and I’m gonna make a video testing them out on a couple different cars with various connectors. We’ll see how they perform.
this guy knows nothing. engine bay. lol. ill take those.
@@metalf919 thanks for the comment I got some otw we’ll see how they do. I have low expectations though. Doubt they fit anywhere in a foreign engine bay, maybe good for an American vehicle… we’ll see lol
Also u gave me an idea I’ll be giving a couple pairs away video should be out around 26th or 27th
Bought a set a few months ago. First time I really used it today. They are great and fit better than I thought. Haven't broke a single connector. They push down perfectly on the tab to release the connector.
@@himr6 thanks for the feedback! I have some otw, I feel like they will work great for newer American vehicles, not too sure about foreign… I have an older gmc sierra and newer Honda so I’ll test it on both soon as I get em
@@flipposgarage I used them on an old prototype JLG 1255. The machine is pretty old. Didn't break a single connector and we run these hard. Also used it to push out locking clips. They worked great.
I'm in no way mechanically inclined, but wouldnt needle nose pliers basically work the same? I mean i know I would end up breaking those connectors especially on older vehicles either way.
I use my hands, but that’s a good point I’ll include those during my video when I review these.
Wondering if this whole thing is bs and it just matters which one is pulled up vs down...
I’m curious myself tbh… I have icon in the garage and I’m gonna buy a snap on wrench and some of that plastic stuff and test it myself soon… very soon also gonna put a mic on it see what measurements are in the jaws of the wrench
I have probably 40grand in snapon tools. Closer to 90 with the box, cabinets and top. I also have icon. Only have a couple snapon cordless ratchets but no impacts. However I may buy their 1/2 inch impact as the Milwaukee struggles sometimes but for most it does the job
Damn it brother! They’re a little too rich for my blood but too each their own I really like icon and Milwaukee never had a problem from either. Have you tried the newest Milwaukee 1/2”?? It’s dialed and smaller. Just curious why do you choose to spend that much on snap-on tho? Is it just the brand you like?
So true. I’m finally at the point where I can afford new but do my own service, so I’m keeping my pre 2010 F150 & Civic. Both super easy to work on.
For sure! Easier and cheaper!
They’re thinking 🤑. And this won’t stop until people stop buying Ford vehicles.
For sure, planned obsolescence… a lot of companies are doin it these days even John Deere
@@flipposgarage yes, sadly my friend. I am a Toyota technician and I am sad to say even reliable brands like Toyota and Honda are no longer the same. 🫠 People think im kidding when I tell them I will never buy anything manufactured over 2010.
This is why I keep my 2000 dodge neon as a commuter
Yezzir low maintenance and cheap operation cost
Shouldn't of worn a woke ass carhardt shirt
Is carhart a woke product now?? Haha I don’t keep up with the news much I guess… plz enlighten me
Durrrr
Thoughtful comment, thanks! lol 😂 some ppl think I’m wrong that Tesla has upper hand
The problem isn't an electric motor it's the huge battery.
I agree! I actually like the concept of diesel-electric hybrid but I feel they need to narrow the options they’re offering and customizable kit is nice but too many options can make or break a business
I literally only see one problem and it's fitment
That’s definitely a concerning factor but if you watch original video they’re offering too many custom options which can make or break a business there are a couple problems they definitely need to address before going public with this product thanks for ur comment though!
Edison is legit but this guy definitely buys snake oil from time to time😂😂
Diesel electric power train is as obvious for road freight as it has been for rail freight for the last 100 years. Kind of shocking its taken this long to get on the road.
For sure I agree
Bro reading the specs and still got them wrong😂😂😂 maybe the numbers get him confused
Just what I got from Edison website feel free to correct me
How does that happen? Isn’t fire contained in the engines cylinders. How would it get into the cabin
You can see part of the dash was removed I bet they cut part of fire wall out and it allowed flames to come thru but usually a fuel related problem. Problems you run into with all that freedom and horsepower lol
It’s amazing how much better you can make an electric vehicle when you add a combustion engine to it.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Superior technology lol 🤣
lol best of both worlds
What is this fucking top trump card play. Its about what it does on the road. Real stats gathered by an unbiased company not soke guy on TH-cam with an ace to grind. I'm into science so figures and testing matters.
Whooping them on a truck by truck basis? Yeah specs wise. Until they actually produce them though it’s not even a competition. I would love for them to succeed but it’s currently very different phases they’re in
True Tesla has upper hand there but I wish Tesla would start getting into the diesel electric
@@flipposgarage Tesla is not touching that shit 😂
@@mcsike7264 lol all I mean by it is they have the resources and capabilities to take it to the next level just like they’re doing with hydrogen
@@flipposgarage hydrogen are just evs with extra steps tesla semi gets 500 miles full loaded nikola hydrogen truck gets like 300 to 400 miles
Not cool, any business also compares cist to operate. Great job, car guy
I just think the next logical step is diesel-electric they not only sell retrofit kit for semi they are making kits for pickup trucks also just smart idea. I never said I don’t like Tesla either
Cool
They make fire suppression kits for a reason and we should use them
Do you have to take off the wheel hub ?
No only reason I did is because I was replacing those while I was in there
When I was a kid, my grandpa hooked up a sleigh to his four-wheeler. I haven’t been right since… neither has the tree… it’s crooked.
I’m not too big on electric cars, I will say, I have driven a cybertruck… that thing is a tank. That’s the only electric vehicle I would recommend. If you had $300,000 to spend anyway. Which i don’t, lol.
lol yea they’re cool and all but if I had that kind of money I wouldnt waste it on an electric vehicle for sure
🎉
I’m here because I once saw the sign on the back of your truck. It seems like you’ve got the TH-cam algorithm figured out!
Appreciate it!! Yes starting to gain a little traction haha, I just try to get better every month. Means a lot to have support from locals like you!
@@flipposgarage looks like you’re getting the hang of it, man! Good luck! Keep on posting!
Battery cars are dead thanks to toyota and ther hidrogion
@@undestructible-gaming I like the hydrogen vehicles a lot of potential there!
😂
It won't get so far
I hope not… I’m not ready for the change
we’re not going into electric cars 💀 no power grid is going to be able to support that, and building all the batteries is worse for the environment than gas.
That’s what I’ve read from my little research on it.. I hope you’re right, I’m not ready for the switch really… there is potential with hydrogen or double injection
I’m gonna touch you in the next 10-20 years
Well, unfortunately electrification ended already. Companies are abandoning their all electric futures and the electric vehicles out now have tanked in value.
Most companies probably are but Tesla is still selling the Tesla vehicles aren’t built very well in my opinion but they’re built better then all the others for sure. But I hope you’re right
I don't know if they will increase in value, when faster electric cars are coming out left and right. Ever heard of a Lucid Air Sapphire? Tesla Plaid? There will be a dozen more in ten years...
It’s not about the speed tho, it’s about them just becoming a collector piece same as the old mustangs and Camaros they are slower then cars today but people collect em.
Dodge isn’t falling off they’re being suffocated big difference
I agree..
@@flipposgarage yea man breaks my heart but aye 🤷🏽♂️
We still have the durango hellcat and trx for one last year
Shits hard to get parts right now as it is and i work at autozone. Being more pricey just means they will be seen less in the streets and more in car shows/collections
So you’re the guy responsible for giving me the wrong parts! Haha jk brother I agree though in part, still gonna have the guys (like in some of my videos) stealing them and/or wrecking them… smh
We like our shit cold bud. R290 is the way…..
@projectfarm made a video using propane compared to 134a in a truck he had and the 134a actually outperformed the propane in terms of cooling. It was a cheap can off Amazon though so that may have contributed to the poor efficiency, 🤷 interesting though…
@@flipposgarage I’m in Florida. I see a 10° minimum drop on vent temps at idle. Sometimes as high as 15°. It’s pretty critical to use high purity propane. 99% or greater. I got mine from a commercial refrigeration company here local. Was like $300 for 20#.
Love it! Gonna have to try this out on my beater truck lol thanks for the info
True, true
Won't be any rush to electric cars. Batteries are crap, useless in winter
I agree, I’m not in a rush for it either. The electric car makers have a lot of kinks to figure out like you said with the batteries. And I really don’t see how they can make us switch like that because from my research the process to mine for the lithium and dispose of it is worse for the environment from what I’ve read then petrol… idk crazy stuff
Do you live in the Arctic circle?
Cars arent lasting even 5 years anymore... They fell off with plastic and planned obsolescence.
You missed the biggest one: EGR + Direct injection. EGR was already bad enough, but at least the gunk got "rinsed" by fuel. Now it just cakes up on the intake valves and nobody seems to have a solution, other than buy a new one.
@@castanza128 oh I forgot to mention all the things they add for "comfort and luxury" that make it more of a roadside appliance rather than just being a car. More and more people are buying "antique" vehicles and maintaining them their selves quite easily.
@@castanza128 the dual injection was a good idea I think Honda or Toyota used, they have direct injection and port injection that way you still get the power of direct injection and the port injection for cleaning valve and when less power was needed closest solution I’ve seen to this problem
Increase in value but their all rotting away at dealerships because nobody wants to pay 60k for a boat that doesn’t work
For sure
those things are gonna go for at least 120k 😅
Nobody buys a Challenger because they're looking for the most fuel efficient grocery getter on tbe market. They buy a Challenger because they want a fucking Challenger. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for environmentally friendly improvements to our world and I agree sometbing has to be done, but I don't think electrifying the last American muscle car is gonna fix Climate Change...
I agree, I’m not in a rush for the switch to electric. They still have a lot to figure out with the batteries and etc…
Facts if you want to convert 1234yf to 134a you don’t have to do all that. The only part you have to convert is the fittings. I had done a lot of American, European and Japan vehicles from 2017 till present meaning 2024 the only thing that has to be replace is the hvac a/c high and low fittings cause there different it’s been done before since 2017
You do if there was as much metal in the lines as this one had… I wouldn’t ever leave a condenser or evaporator if a compressor sent that much metal thru the system. Now if ur just doing conversion then ur right but wasn’t the case here
I am 15 and i have worked for the past 5 years to save up enough money to buy myself a suzuki dr 650 but if you want to get a better bike just be patient
I have multiple dirt bikes and atv’s and go carts for my kids this is my sons lol I like these Chinese bikes because they can tear em up and it’s cheap fun. But we have some Yamahas and Kawasaki toys too. Made this video to let parents and younger kids know they are just as fun
Yeah they're basically garbage 😅.... However not a terrible bike on a budget ✊️😁
Yea cheap fun for sure! Cheap to fix and idk where you are but in Oklahoma they hold their value well. I also like it so my son can learn to work on bikes and maintain one
Awesome job buddy all the people on the comments that think they're feds. Are dead wrong and there's no job waiting for them
Just fill it with 134a it'll work fine
not for long tho
Ive heard of people filling hondas with 134 instead of the new stuff and it works just fine
Yes it does from what I’ve heard also. Parts replaced because of the metal that was in the system from failed compressor. My opinion and the 2 shops i spoke with said the cause was the new 1234yf refrigerant causes the compressors to fail early. I also made this video because multiple people told me it wasn’t possible. Wanted to prove em otherwise. Thanks for the comment!
