I've been using airtable for a while, but this is the first time I've looked into the interfaces. If you're familiar with Microsoft Access from back in the day, you could create a screen where you could import certain pieces of data, but also view other pieces of data that were locked from editing. That was especially helpful if you had somebody helping you enter data. Does airtable support anything like this? It was my biggest struggle with airtable in the beginning and I have sort of forgotten about it. But I would love to have an interface where you can update information, search for records... Etc. thank you

Airtable should have thought of an easier way to solve this, since it's a very common problem.

Hey Julian, great tutorial thank you. Out of interest, the 'relationship' between people and their data - is this just within one Sheet as it were? For example here you work just within 'Julian's CRM'. We're looking to use Airtable to manage customers on multiple courses, with multiple dates, just trying to determine the best setup and hierarchy of Airtable.

Great video, so close to solving a problem for me, just have one small question.... What if you have Kanye West twice because Kaye West needs to inpout different information for his plus one, I cant find this set up anywhere. Do I need to create another table first and get all the information under one row (ie. under one Kaye West and then the form will see more information for him to add and show it in the form or?

Is it possible to make and sale a database? For example considering you made a database and dashboard for inoices tracking and want to sell it as a template ready to use to customers. So how can u handover 1 complete database to multiple customers/buyers with individual acess?.

Love this, but when I tried to automate, my option is WHEN BIRTHDAY IS _______(BLANK TEXT FIELD)_____. Your example has another dropdown of TODAY/YESTERDAY etc. What am I doing wrong?

beginners, my advice is, this is the most difficult video, forget buttons and formulas, forget roll ups, just keep stock in and stock out initially,and he has follwed with customer id and order id table linked to this table further confusing the system, so better keep it simple for beginners,otherwise excellent video,lot of time it takes,

Hi Julian! Thanks for your great videos. I've been following along your series on building out an inventory system on Air Table. Thanks for sharing. In following along on this video, I'm running into a problem. I have table "Parts" that are assembled into table "Products" using a "Parts x Products" junction table. I record inventory reductions through "Orders" table that links to "Customers" table. When I record an order, line items are created in the "Products Sold" table, which is then rolled up into the "Parts x Products" for a total "Line Item Quantity Sold". I have crated a "Locations" table and can successfully add location to parts when I enter them in the "Parts Received" table, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to reference the location of parts sold for computing in-stock quantities for specific locations. Is this a simple situation to rectify or am I overly complicating the situation somehow? I appreciate any guidance you can provide.

Great video Julian. Thanks for sharing. I am following along with your videos to build out an inventory system that has parts that are bundled into products. I am in the process of trying to add inventory store locations to the system and am running into a problem. I am set up to enter sales in an order table, that links to a customer. The orders resolve to a Products Sold table that lists all individual line items. Those line items are then connected to my "Parts x Products" junction table that provides a "Line Item Quantity Sold" for each part. I subtract "Line Item Quantity Sold" from "Total Parts Received" to compute an "In Stock" quantity. I understand how to Receive parts and identify specific locations. However I'm having a bear of time trying to figure out how to define/record where those parts are coming from when a sale is made. Is this an overly complicated situation...or I am just making it so? Any tips or insight would be appreciated.

Could I apply the principles in your work hours automation to duplicating an invoice from a template? I believe I could. I’ve been watching your videos from my phone while on the plane to and from my vacation. I’ve made notes but don’t have my computer to create the automation. I’ve created my tables needed for Invoicing in Airtable; however, it isn’t live because I need 10-15 products per invoice. This is too tedious without an automation, but I think I can make it happen based on your hours worked automation.

Hey! Great video! Super helpful. I'm wondering if there is a workflow that updates fields in the main database, but if a field is left blank on the form to not overwrite the field in the main sheet. For instance, if Kanye decided to change his meal option but did not need to refill in the rest of the form and his previous preferences would not be overwritten. Thank you again for the video!

Another quesstion. What if we currently have a grid set up (for current volunteers), but wanted to make it so that new volunteers can fill out a form and be added to that list....is that possible, or do we have to start fresh?

We currently have our primary field set up as just the first name. Is there a way to change that to be the first and last name? We have 200 records in this grid already. If I change this in a personal view, does it update everyone's view?

Thank you so much for this walk thru. I volunteer for a smaller non-profit and we are using airtable to track our volunteers at this point and would like to use it for other things once we understand it better. I have been fumbling through the system trying to add new volunteers from a spreadsheet and ended up duplicating some records. Then when I deleted them from my personal view it deleted that contact/record from everyones view. Is there a way to upload from google sheets or xcel, but airtable to only upload contacts/information that are not already listed? Also, is there a way to delete or edit a record on a personal view and not effect the other views?

In my case, the Locations/Warehouses change frequently, so the way to summerize the stock levels is very impractical for me since you have to add and delete columns each time

Whats the difference with ms lists?
