Moving to contract just means they have first rights. This is actually a very common scam. They get this guy in a contract and then sue him for breach of contract. This was exposed in one of those investigation tv shows way back in the 90’s on us tv.

I spoke with one publisher about a game I was working on. North Star, I wasn’t even totally aware I was making a pitch 😂 but they gave me a lot of feedback. I stopped designing 6 years ago. Now I decided to get back into it. Thanks for the video.

Great video as always Pam! 1) Definitely love a bag of bits! Back when I worked at a used book store, I'd keep random bits and dice from old board games we had to discard. They came in handy to replace other used games that were missing a piece. 2) You know how much I love my small box games. Mint tins are such a fun paremeter to try to design a game around. Even have a couple of Mint games myself! 3) That journal is such an awesome idea! It's so easy to get absorbed in everything going on through playtests that you may forget all those details you shoud be paying attention to like the duration of the game. A great product

I really like the game crafter. I’ve bought components to homebrew pnp expansions (provided by expansion). My favorite things about this box are the score dials, the stencil, and the game design journal.

What if you used the candy dice to do a Halloween (or Easter or holiday) themed game to have each player exploring to collect as much candy as possible in a time limit game, dice drafting ladder climbing mechanism

I don’t think it’s wise for a new designer to run a kickstarter..a successful campaign takes a lot of money..some of these publishers are spending 200k on their campaigns. Learning to create hype is the most important part.

Cool stuff! Hoping the Game Crafter will be at PAX Unplugged in December so I can check out their booth. - - I think the things that would be most useful to me would be 1) the stencil, 2) the journal, 3) the cardboard and paper blanks in different shapes and sizes.

This was a great video to watch. I would have to say that I would choose in order the stencil, then journal and last the lone haz-mat guy. Though it would be very interesting to try and make a game a game just from the bits bag.

Hell yeah, bring back VHS boxes.

The fail faster journal is something I'd love to get. I've designed a few games just for myself and friends. Sadly I did not document some of my older designs, this would have helped.

Fun and excellent video! The Game Crafter really supports the game design community! Love the cool stencil! Hopefully aspiring game designers will include Pam in their design process- often new games require a bit of tweaking to streamline and reduce the redundancy and overall price of materials from Game crafter. Game on!

It's awesome to see The Game Crafter get mentioned in the wild. I designed a game with a friend of mine a few years back and we used TGC for our physical prototyping as well as ongoing print on demand sales. It's wonderful how stress free it is to be able to have it for sale without having to worry about storing extra physical copies.

Love the gamecrafter the community. A good junk of my collection is gamecrafter manufactured games (especially in the mint tins!) I think the top three items for a game designer would be: (#1) the play testing book. Getting help here and friendly reminders about dos and donuts of the process seems really helpful. (#2) The stencil. would help with basic graphic design and layout. (#3) The bits. Lots of inspiration in that little bag I'd imagine.

Had to sub. I’m an avid collector and lover of board and card games and have always wanted to try my hand at design. I think I’d heard of Game Crafter before, but I’m not sure. So glad I found your channel. Top 3? I really like the Fail Faster journal, the stencil ruler looks very useful and the chits seem like a good source of inspiration. Really cool box.

Instead of repurposing game boards, i use cardboard (I believe it's called eggshell cardboard), cut it in as many folds are needed for the prototype and tape them from the backside creating some sort of hinges

I think my favorite three items were: 1.The fail faster journal. 2. The blank cardboard. 3. The Bag of Bits> Now, I already have the game design ruler and i find it lets me breeze through the rapid prototyping stage when working on a lot of cards.

Mystery box time! Thanks for the fun little video 😊. The Game Crafter's repertoire of stuff just keeps expanding! I think the idea of doing a crowdfunding project through them sounds like a really neat idea; I'd love to hear about some people's experiences doing that. The stuff from the box that piqued my interest the most are 1) the stencil, 2) the journal, and 3) the cardboard bits (especially the dials and the fold-up board).

Such a valuable video! I'm most interested in the Fail Faster journal, the boards and chits, and the bag'o'bits.

Great vid, thanks! Gamecrafter makes a ton of neat stuff. I used to have to go to teaching supply stores for my prototyping supplies, now I can just have Gamecrafter assemble everything for me. I'd say the Fail Faster journal and the cardboard, specifically the score tracking dials, would be most useful to me. I own a few games that come in VHS cases, and they're pretty cool, so let's make that #3. I had a chat with a few people at Protospiel about the value of things like the art/craft elements of prototyping, and the (often invisible to the player) lore of a given game, and while I recognize that focusing on them too much can be an obstacle to finishing, I think often these are also the elements that keep us as designers jazzed about continuing the work. Some people get super into the mechanics, and some people get super into the table presence, and some people get super into the vibes or narrative- we all have our own personal mix of what keeps us going. Heck, for me it even varies from game to game. The glory of game design is that it syncretizes a bunch of different hobbies into one, and has the potential to create end products that are more than the sum of their plastic and cardboard parts. Keep up the good work!

After mulling on thoughts of making board games for a while, the past few months, I've been actually working on a few of them. (Both in very early solo-playtesting stages) The top 3 things I think would be the Stencil, The Journal, and the VHS style case.

Cool! My three favorites things that you found in the box are: 3. Lonely haz-mat guy doing what needs to be done; 2. The Fail faster journal to keep me in line; and 1. Hope for a brighter tomorrow. (Or the stencil/ ruler).
