I'm African American living in Nigeria too! Coming on 2 years in Abuja. In regards to the fruit in the supermarket not being fresh, you get fresh produce from OUTDOOR markets. The indoor supermarkets are not where people get most food. It is super fresh outside. Another culture shock. Lol.

I know you are so frustrated with this situation! If your jewelry was insured, you can get the monetary value once you file a claim. I believe it's too late to try and get your jewelry pieces back. But do what you feel is necessary, and going forward, you know ppl have no problem taking from you, so use discernment.

Peeing on the street is actually against the law in Nigeria; it is the enforcement that is lacking. 😂 Victoria Island is more of a business district area, and Banana Island is more residential. Wait till you go to Abuja...... The traffic thing, is more in Lagos than any other part of Nigeria. Pls stop giving beggars money; you are only encouraging them. There is actual freedom in Nigeria; you are allowed to do as you like and Western standard can never be enforced in Africa (don't expect American standard). ....on restaurants; nah! Ask around and you will get Nigerian restaurants (...for Nigerian tastes mostly). Etc... good luck.
