I think my drivers side chain tensioner on my 5.7 is not engaging. I hear the chain slapping on cold start. are those tensioned by oil pressure or a spring? I saw you remove the keeper so it looks like it's tensioned already

I didn't see new head gaskets on that block before putting the heads on they could have been there but it didn't look like it?

OSnap Bro, at 10:10 I can see a shot of the old lifters that have a hole for the MDS system and the new ones do not. Gonna say you put the wrong non MDS lifters in that MDS equipped engine. And yes I would say no head gaskets, new gaskets are shiny not rust colored. I can hear the head clank. Sad. My 5.7 died because the head gasket was installed backwards blocking half the water ports and the valve guide seal on #6 fell out. Catastrophic failure because of stupid.
