Meloto is an English company from London(UK) and the problem of Meloto is that they hardly mention who the player of the roll is, only the composer. I’ll dive into this matter and will post about it Thanks for watching and remarkable how you recognized the melody😁

@playerpianofavorites8999 Just call it coincidence! Yes... whatever you want to share about Meloto, I'd love to read. I like those boxes... colorful. Do you have any idea about what year this roll was made by Meloto? I'm trying to place them in a time-line with player piano history.

Meloto existed from 1921-1932 and was also a record producing company. They produced player piano rolls of their own masters but also from masters that they obtained from Aeolian/Universal New York. The company was also known as: The Meloto danceroll co. Ltd The Orchestrelle co. Ltd London The Meloto Co. Ltd London All were part or under supervision of Aeolian UK I hope to inform you soon about the date of issue and the players

@playerpianofavorites8999 Fascinating!!! I had absolutely no idea they were associated with aeolian. Now I wonder if some of their rolls are aeolian cut rolls?... Since Meloto didn't really list pianists, they didn't have to list the American pianists if they ever did use an apology roll and just stuck a Meloto label on it. Europe got the better end of the deal with the boxes for sure! I've always liked those boxes when I've seen pictures of them. I don't own a Meloto roll.... guess I need to go shopping!

@@SevenPlus65 they did have their own masters but also used masters provided by Aeolian and Universal. The roll production was by Universal Music co. Ltd. In Hayes(UK)

Thank you for that nice comment. My native Language is Frysian but my main speach is Dutch. I live in the north part of The Netherlands

@playerpianofavorites8999 Nice!! I never learned a second language of any kind. I wish I would have. At any rate... some year we'd like to visit your neck of the woods! Most of my ancestors migrated to the United States from England and Denmark. They settled in Utah. According to my DNA test, I'm 59% Scandinavian and most of the rest of me is "northern European".

@ it’s never too late to learn another Language . Next to my two native Languages I also speak German and English(ofcourse😁) and a tiny bit Italian. But nevertheless music speakes all languages

That is a true question that I can’t answer. With buttons “pedal” and “melodie” on there is no significant change in tempo nor volume and using those buttons on the keyboardside evenso (no or hardly any Action) so that will be a technical problem that needs to be taken care of as well as the keyboard that doesn’t move with the lock in off-position!

Meanwhile I’ll use the speedbutton for that “extra” expression

On the other hand I have the impression that it’s stil too fast, but that is because I don’t know this song very well. Thanks for listening and your response 👍🏻

@@playerpianofavorites8999 I know the song and your intuition is correct. It could be a little slower. However, some of those early country westen songs were originally performed kind of fast and later versions of the same song were slower.

I hesitated long before the post because it’s a very delicate and sensitive song that I didn’t know but after digging the internet and knowing where it came from and it’s history I put it up. Like you say the scales and runs made me almost think that I owned a grand piano 😂 About those reflections…….😂 that wasn’t meant to be but as I pushed the record-button the phone shifted a bit and that reveals (more than planned)🤗 Thanks again and keep watching👍🏻

@playerpianofavorites8999 South Pacific was one of the musicals our high school speech & drama class performed long ago. I always liked the music from that show. I've watched the movie many times, and I well remember the scene in which Bali was sung. I have the QRS Medley roll ... the motivated me. I haven't played it in a while, but I will now. My favorite song was always Honey Bun. I kind of felt like I had a personal connection to this musical..... the aspect of it taking place during WWII. My dad's older brother was drafted into the army and fought in the south pacific Islands. I always thought about him during scenes with the soldiers. I figured the camera shifted and I think that was for the better 😉

If I could I maybe would get the chance to fit in👍🏻 As one of the Highwaymen Willie Nelson is one of the top favorite countryartists ever next to Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson. I own a dvd/cd box of the show they put on in the Nassau colliseum NY 1990 and I can play that over and over without ever getting tired of it, so when I got the opportunity to buy a Lot with this roll amongst it I didn’ hesitate one second! 😁

It is! I have the 1990 Nassau Colliseum show of The Highwaymen on dvd and can play it over and over again and nèver get enough of it. Sometimes when I get back home from work, I play the video on TH-cam in my car and it realy makes the distance shorter 🤗 Ànd it is incredible how Mr. Nelson still survives and performs on this age (91)

Thank you for your kind words. I liked the roll aswell and especially because the text is on the left side of the roll instead of the right side which I ve never seen before. The piano needs tuning but that will happen as soon as the “playerroom” at home is ready, now the piano is in storage where I can play ànd record it 😃👍🏻

Oh yes, lots 😂 Mainly all kinds of ragtime, boogie woogie, blues and remarkable music such as from The Highwaymen if it exists, exept “on the road again” from Willy Nelson, I do have that roll and will post it by the end of April (insiders will know why)

I think this is a single cut, custom made. I think Euterpe might actually sell single copies from midis which is interesting. I could make a custom cut of this with QRS but the roll is 40 bucks.

Pic’s follow in time. The piano part (sn: 20006) was made in Germany in Aschaffenburg by Philipps Arnold and the player part (sn: 63130)) has been produced by Philips in Frankfurt so it is a complete German instrument.

Thanks Anthony, indeed it is a fantastisc roll that came in a lot as a surprise. I couldn’t find anything about the publisher as well as the player/composer, hopefully someone else can 🤗
