Just working my way back into the game on a budget, so I'm also Tunic-less (playing Tec Plate in that slot instead) and Stalagmiteless. I've been told that Sledge isn't worth playing without Tunic, but your "pitch 2 blues to Sledge + CYB" makes that sound not entirely true?

@@TForgery Sadly I agree that Sledge is NOT worth it without a Tunic equipped. Yes we pitch 2 blues for Sledge + CYB, but that's 6 total times in the game. Sometimes in cycle 1, and often in cycle 2, we want to one-card swing 6 off a blue and tunic. This is also why Tear Asunder is so powerful in the deck. I do think there are ways to make Jarl perfectly tournament viable with Tectonic Plating, Earthlore Bounty, or even the new Earth Chest, but they will be fundamentally different from Sledge lists and probably run a 1h Hammer or maaaaaybe Anothos (if punting Nuu and running big Guardian attacks). As for Stalagmite, I think the shield is great in the mainboard of a list not on Sledge, and great in the sideboard of a list that IS on Sledge. For CYB, Rampart is the better shield. For non-CYB, Stalagmite is the better shield. So I'd ask yourself if you'd rather play a Tunic Sledge focused build (can be defensive like mine or aggro ice like Zephen's), OR if you'd rather play a Tec/Earthlore/etc chest + Titans/Earth Hammer + Stalagmite build. I think you would be fine with just one of the legendaries and not the other based on that decision, but of course having both will help you build the deck a bit more flexibly. I wouldn't call him dogshit, but he is nowhere near as powerful as Oldhim was, despite releasing 3 years later, and that's supremely disappointing. My personal take is that it's a mixed bag, he's very fun and nowhere near the bottom of the tier list, but half of his cards are just bad, Mangle is just not worth it usually, the "Legendary" doesn't feel like an L, and his weapon is truly dogshit. I enjoyed Florian's style of "no hero ability, now I'm online and it was worth it", but that's done with his own deck's engine and Jarl's version of this feels significantly worse. Here's hoping we get more support before the Guardian set that got pushed back half a year 🙃 For both Jarl and Florian I'm hoping we see the 3rd piece of the Felling/Plow trio -- Blue Earth Attack Action - cost:1 block:3 pow:0 - Gets +4 if 4 earth in banish, Decompose, when Decompose.... honestly doesn't matter what the effect is. Or maybe we'll get a big ice attack like Felling or Endless Winter 🤞

@@BrfTuck He's pretty dogshit. He's only held afloat by a combination of stock good guardian cards, and the staple generics. The Ice package has been completely crept out of the game, and the guardian elemental package was pretty bad when it came out. Jarl is a 4-fun personal handicap till August of 2025. The only thing that could save him is unbanning Winter's Wail, but they won't even give guardian a 4 attack hammer anymore, so that's never happening.

Ive only faced against Modified Precon Jarl but Ive modified my Vynn deck so that I can do well into Jarl and oh boy.💀 Poor Jarl player got horrifically slaughtered. Im genuinely more scared of Victor than Jarl becuz Jarl CANNOT throw dmg to save his fucking life. Only attack I care about the Jarl throwing at me is a fused Oaken Old. Anything else I ignore and slam them RLLY hard and play Succumb and make the Jarl player CRY.😂 Jarl is similar to Betsy inna way where their both trying to do things that the Guardian package just CANT support. Betsy issa aggroish hero while Jarl issa Tempo hero.

Against the average Florian, pop their Grasp ASAP and then just outmath them with disruption, lifegain, and guardian mindset. However it seems like the best Florians will pitchstack Germinate and have a big inevitable fuck you die turn before Jarl can kill them. For this, I sadly do not have an answer as I haven't had the pleasure of playing against it yet. Maybe more disruption like 1-2 sideboard Pummels, maybe cards to draw into Oakens faster like Whisper/Sift/More fuses, I'm not too sure. Sorry I don't have a better answer, but if you figure anything out I'd love to hear it :)

He sure is! I think Aggro and Control are both good builds for Jarl, just not midrange. But I am a control player at heart, and had been playing CYB Oldhim in LL as well because it's his only option with Oaken limited to 1 copy, and that helped inspire this Jarl work. Yup, you are correct! In the "CYB Retrospective" section at 30:00 I say that CYB ended up not being a good answer to Nuu, and that I swapped to the other build to beat her. Into Azalea, Katsu, and Botlyn, I think the ice disruption and pile of D Reacts & 3blocks should be enough to be consistently favored into all of them, but I will admit I did not test into 2 of these 3

@@themisvoul1045 No lol. Into Nuu, the plan is midrange value. It's gonna be a long grind but we also have to play around the randomness of things we cycle back into deck getting banished. So for this midrange value grind, we play it pretty similar to the CYB list, but also have: Gauntlets for extra value and clutch moments against Bonds, TAYG for daggers or even more reaction blocks on on-hits, and Sigil of Solace to help pad the life totals in a way that her banishes can't disrupt. Hope this helps, and I encourage you to try it out yourself! This list certainly isn't favored into Nuu, but felt like a true 50/50.

Personally I found Seeds of Tomorrow just too awkward to be worth it. I really wanted to like the card, especailly since Wizard has been a small struggle, but I'd just rather have Oasis or something tbh. After trying Seeds and it just not being consistent enough, I tried a "Spirit of Crown of Seeds" build with Seeds of Tomorrow + Tome of Harvest + most other cards that benefit from putting any random leftover card in arsenal, but it just wasn't a good enough payoff to play that sort of build sadly. I don't think Seeds of Tomorrow is BAD per se, but I think it forces you into weird play patterns that are not optimal.

@@BrfTuck Thank you. I gotta say I have found the same thing but I tend to adopt the "if everybody elses says its good, it must be" approach to deck building.

Flourish is definitely not core to the deck and could be replaced with any other blue 2block earth you'd prefer! The biggest reason I kept it is for even more aggression and pressure into Enigma and Wizard.

I would replace Canopy Shelter with either Sigil of Earth or more copies of Sow Tomorrow. These all fit in roughly the same role and are interchangeable, same with Flourish. I would replace Warmongers with another blue block 3 NAA like Condemn to Slaughter, TROM, Whisper of the Oracle, or something along those lines. Thanks for the kind words and the subscription! 😁

@@BrfTuck Did you test Fruits of the Forest at all? seems a lot of other builds of the decks are running it and it seems an easy way to get earth into graveyard early for decompose etc. What are the downsides of it ? thanks for the info and advice!

@solwebsolweb7198 I did originally run Fruits because I like the card a lot, but it felt terrible in this list. You want as little 2blocks as possible, and if the ones you do have are NAAs and work with embodiments, they feel less bad. So I ended up cutting it for that reason alone. But I think it'd slot into the block card's position or Flourish's position very easily. Personally though, for this style of list, I think those cards are better and more impactful than fruits.

I tried it initially, and it will 100% be in the armory deck, but I don't think it will end up in competitive lists. In your 60 cards, you need at LEAST 30 blues, probably closer to 33-35, leaving room for 25-30 reds total. And there are enough high impact reds, like Oaken Old, Mangle, CnC, Estrike, Sink and Pummel, etc that the bar for red cards in very high. The card pool for earth ice elemental guardian is very very deep so it feels like the bar is higher than Buckling Blow. But the other half of this is that we want to force opponents to use their equipment on these other reds like Oaken, CnC, etc to accomplish Buckling Blow's effect anyway. Hope that makes sense and helps! Again I want to stress that this is a new deck and no one knows what's best yet, so try what you think might be great and let's learn together! :)

I played a good chunk of games with Coronet Peak before the latest spoilers dropped and was underwhelmed. I expected it to do a lot for me, but there were plenty of games where it either didn't come up at all, or only came up once, so Providence just felt more consistent. HOWEVER that was with Titans fist, and I think Coronet could be back on the menu due to the weapon's high cost. I think Ollin Ice Cap is the best choice in matchups that it will impact, but for the other matchups, it's very possible that coronet peak is the better choice over Providence

How do you feel about exposed to the elements?

I think exposed may see play. It's very impactful when you play it out, but a 2 cost instant that can't block will definitely be awkward fairly often. Maybe it's a great sideboard for him!

@@BrfTuck yeah, I think it's likely a one-of, and probably not maindeckable. The ability to snipe a tunic is huge, especially if you get to go, End of your turn, Expose fusing with crumble, open up my turn with crumble, take out an equipment and set you up for a next-turn dominated mangle. This sort of play feels better the earlier you do it, which implies more Exposed's-- but as a non-blocking card, I don't want to run more than 2 for sure.
