Yes I cried he was one he'll of an actor saw him live in second city GO ARGOS GO
He was a monster on the keyboard. He didn't like to travel so outside of Pittsburgh he doesn't get the respect he deserves.
THIS IS A BAD MAN!!!! Definitely in my top 5 of pianists of all time!
As an older young person, I used to watch Mr. Roger's Neighborhood just to see what Johnny was going to do with Won't You Be My Neighbor that he'd never done before. Astounding, every time. I'm sooooo glad this music is part of my musical heritage.
Had a need for this hit me out of nowhere, got on here to find ANYTHING with him in it, and I am happy to see that it is a thing. Grateful for you.
The music on Mr. Rogers is fabulous. The audience that a world class jazz musician can reach is pretty low, but everyone in America knows Johnny's piano. Fred wrote the basic song and Johnny would take it and run.
If you go through TH-cam and look at even just the Intro song over the years, he never played it the same way twice. Sometimes it would be completely wild in the best way. As an adult who is now a pianist (dabbling in jazz) it's absolutely mesmerizing to hear Johnny play!
Does anyone remember Johnny Costa on piano, Joe Negri on guitar and Don Riggs on drums (brushes) on Saturday morning TV?
I have this thing where I always wave back at John Candy at the end.
Maybe there is a piano for John to play in heaven.
Does anyone know where I can get the Lyrics to this tune by Hugh Harris?
A young McCauley, Chicago suburbs, John Candy....damn I miss this era❤
Seems thing's had been much simpler in the day 😪 but one still had to stand out with raw talents...
Added talent in several ways...
An amazing man loved him so much I was lucky to see him in Toronto doing second city comedy 😂😜🤣
And Mr Costa we loved you!
Amo questo film.Indimenticabile.
I always appreciated it, even when I was 8. I’m so glad he had the liberty to entertain kids like he did. You knew the music was special, despite being a kid’s show. That’s respect.
Not to shabby 💚 😉
RIP JOHN CANDY...... 1950-1994...........!!!!
"...the people loved it." I know I did.
The jazz pianist for Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood didn't Costa lot.
Do you know where you got these clips from?
Johnny and Joe Negri! I didn't find out until years later what amazing musicians they were.
Joe told me that he never had to leave town except for Army service, and was always working. At this writing he is 96. A super nice guy and wonderful player.
@@rmo52 Wow! God bless him! 👍🎸❤️
Im one of those peple. I was entertained
In my top 10 favorites ever!!!
American genius
John Candy had that infectious smile of his that could brighten anyone's day. You are missed!!
Meee toooooooooooo
Thanh you for this epic tribute
i dare someone not to laugh and cry watching this video like i just did we love Big John always Rip Big John
Uncle Buck changed that family forever John Candy best film of all time
I was an adult by the time Mr. Rogers came on T.V. I accidentally turned on the show after work one day and heard Johnny Costa's playing and I was instantly hooked. What a phenomenal way to augment Fred Rogers's brilliance with Johnny's pianistic brilliance!
He was a true treasure to the world, I almost know hes in heaven for the love he gave
He did get to go. He is busy being a light.
Johnny Costa, one of the greatest to strike the keys!
As a kid, I didn't appreciate the music so much. As an adult, I can't get enough of John Costa's music. If I see Mr Rogers is on PBS, I turn to it immediately so I can hear the music. TH-cam has a ton of his music and I've downloaded more than a dozen songs
Johnny costa was really good on Fred Rogers show
Johnny Costa is brilliantly gifted both technically & melodically‼️ 🎹
He was phenomenal 🔥🔥
A great man and a great film. John Hughes and John Candy were too of the best in the business. RIP to both of them.
Many, many people look to Fred Rogers, but not many ask who Fred Rogers looked to. It was Johnny Costa. Johnny was to Fred what Fred is to us. A very, very powerful relationship. The highest excellence.
I'm a Johnny costa fan now !
Bravo to Johnny....and to you! Thank you for your labor-of-love video.
that really gets to me i wish he had gotten to make a sequel to uncle buck and ptaa wherever you are john franklin candy i wish had gotten to meet you ive seen every film of his.
There is a lot overly complicated jazz music, but his is not, even if its quite sofisticated, but is quite pleasent to listen
You can tell he loved that last one he did! Look at his face!
remove those two dislikes and this would have one of the highest like/dislike ratio of all of TH-cam.
Y’all do realize movies aren’t the person. Look at Alec Baldwin
Charles Cornell anyone?
Yep.
Mr. Rogers sounds very gay about Johnny Costa.
