The guys have been taking steroids since the early 80s it is an open secret. It didn't get attention until they started juicing the balls. MLB covered up their ball juicing by blaming it on the players. McGuire having testosterone boosters in his dugout or his locker makes no sense. You can't take steroids and a steroid booster it wouldn't do anything. Anybody would know that. Androstene doesn't do anything to you if you're on steroids. It cant.

While growing up I was Joe Rudi's and Sal Bando's newspaper delivery system during the 72-74 run. Mr. Rudi was kind and would take walks up our street with his family. No one bugged him but the neighbor on the corner house where everyone had to drive by put up huge banners on their garage door for Joe to see. Bando was a jokester and would stall paying me for his subscription while I stood on his front porch. Rudi rented a house up the street a half block away. He should have invested in that neighborhood in Danville. My parents paid 35K for the house I now own in 2025.

Baseball has always been about stats and numbers yes the history of baseball players cheated but the home run record for a season and a career is a different story what I didn’t get is in that era only the NL home run was broken the AL record for homers that 61 stood until what was 2023 or 22 also the team record for the Royals by a player in a season was only 35 that was set in 1985 and it wasn’t broken until 2013 so I’m guessing players in the AL value that more.

Barry Bonds was a first ballot HOFer before he ever took a steroid. With them, he became the greatest player ever. Quite a testament to the product, if you ask me. For every Lyle Alzado, there's 4 guys who used them more intelligently. Unless you can absolutely prove any player had never done any "illegal" substances at any point in their career ( and you can't prove a negative) I assume anyone not caught, just knew how to skirt the rules better than the poor schmucks that got caught. I just can't believe how good of hitter bonds was after steroids. He was a great line drive hitter and with steroids the line drives started going out of the park.

Simply make a section in the Hall call the steroids era. As you pointed out interest in baseball was booming. Fan were filling up the stadiums. The 3pt shot in basketball is a gimmick that increased fan interest until it became boring.

The industry ruined a damaged person. But Joe loved her most. Marilyn was already a star and independent, probably didn't want a man to tell her what to do. They can switch up.
