Because of the double standards they employ and their predilection of facts. Jesus was the great Messiah. It says so in Isaiah 53. But Joseph Smith isn't the prophet of the Restoration of All Things we see in Ephesians 1:10, Isaiah 11 and Isaiah 29. Jesus began his _Church_ and the gates of hell would not be able to withstand it! But Smith did naught but start a religious _cult_ despite it fulfilling numerous prophecies which it made about itself! What other religious sect had been able to do that?
