Don't waste your money or your time seeing this garbage film folks!... The last three scripts Woods wrote were b-a-d and boring---and this one is even worse than THEY were. One wonders why A24 would waste money to produce such trivia about Mormonism when it is known worldwide as a dangerous organization that has destroyed millions of lives and ripped out souls! Why instead didn't A24 and Stacey Sher produce a TRUE horror film about this cult which is so harmful to society? Everyone is asking "Why the PR vehicle"?....The Mormon PR Machine is actually milking this celluloid catastrophe to garner media attention--- playing their usual persecution card by presenting their well-indoctrinated cunning Mormon missionaries as "brave little warriors who battle the cold cruel world and risk their lives to teach the [Mormon] 'gospel' ". This film is disgusting to thousands of Christian pastors and ex-Mormons who dedicate their lives and time every day to exposing the grand-daddy of the cults! Mormonism is a huge corrupt 170 billion dollar business corporation, which masquerades as a "religion", and calls itself a "church", [to avoid the IRS and SEC, who fined them five million dollars last year for taking gullible members "tithing money"... and hiding it in illegal shell companies, then buying real estate and a mall with it!] Mormonism operates as a CULT--- brainwashing its gullible victims and affrcting them psychologically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, socially, and even sexually. The blithering idiots on this TIFF stage must have the IQs of room temperature. Their ignorance of Mormonisn is truly astounding, in light of the internet information readily available and written by those who have escaped the cult and who have their tragic stories. Bryan Woods' lack of integrity in not doing proper research on Mormonism is appalling. And his brainless statement inferring that he may have been raised "Christian" but that his "mind was expanded" by his wife and/or her family is disgusting! ... As writer Bryan Woods' wife [Julia Glausi] IS a member of the Mormon cult---as are her equally deluded parents who follow the False Prophet Joseph Smith, a sexual deviate pedophile who had FORTY wives. One of them was a 14 year old child. Smith also married other men's wives. Don't believe me?... Look it up!] Glausi---writer Woods' collaborator and wife--- is the woman onstage with the wide hips, frizzy hair, and skin tight pants.) Woods' deceptive terminology about Mormonism illustrates his blatant ignorance about the cult. Christians everywhere are insulted by anyone with the audacity to call Mormon Inc. a "religion". Even the term "missionary" is, in itself, erroneous. The two main characters [portrayed by East and Thatcher] are NOT "missionaries", they are street recruiters sent out to suck in New Convert Money for The Great Kitty in Salt Lake City. Just for the record, Thatcher and East [two ditzy actresses] are not only poor thespians, they actually admitted growing up in the Mormon cult themselves! How interesting that in one interview, they indicated that they didn't want to step on their Mormon friends' toes! Their wooden acting in this film was repugnant! As for Hugh Grant, was his career sagging so bad that he had to accept such a sorry role? What was Hugh's agent thinking? This role will HURT his career, not HELP it! As for "writer" Woods, this cruddy script will finish HIS already flagging career off. Woods doesn't have what it takes to write Oscar material anyway--- Horror schlock is his genre. Otherwise, he simply can't cut the mustard...."The Heretic" had poor plot strcture, virtually no plot (which erupted from a boring logline), and dull one-dimensional characters. As for A24, they could have taken the millions of dollars they invested in producing this celluloid catastrophe, and put it into something with substance---an accurate film depicting Mormonism as it truly is---a cult which wrecks lives. [Look up "Mormon Podcast Stories", "Cults to Consciousness" or "Mormonism vs. Christianity".] Christians throughout the world are boycotting this silly film, for even using offensive MORMON terminology with deceptive titles like "Missionary" or "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". Mormonism is NOT Christian. The MORMON Jesus is alien to the Christian Christ!... Mormons claim Jesus [like their fanatical founder Joseph Smith] was a polygamist with several wives, and that He had sex and procreated children...a "sinner" who worked His way to exaltation. Mormons take away Christ's divinity and view Him as a mere man in progression to godhood. [Mormons believe that they, too, will become gods and get their own planet with a harem of celestial goddess-wives.] Mormon founder Joseph Smith was a crazed maniac who prophesied that the leaders of his cult would one day "take over the government and establish a New World Order". [Look up his eerie "White Horse Prophecy".] Yep, producer Julia Glausi, as a dimwitted MORMON, actually believes this crap! Would you want her producing a picture for YOU?] Apparently her hubby Bryan Woods did no research on Mormonism, as the true nature of founder Joseph Smith was barely touched on in this abhorrent script! The major fact that the Mormon cult has destroyed families, wrecked lives, caused suicides and created millions of true victims---is ignored in Woods' absurd script. In short, don't waste your money on this boring over-hyped atrocity. Last but not least, it is disrespectful to ALL victims of Mormonism [especially those who have been sexually abused by Mormon missionaries] for this silly film to portray the two Mormon missionaries as "victims". The website floodlit.org documents hundreds of Mormon Sexual Abuse cases by Mormon missionaries, Mormon bishops, Mormon youth workers, Mormon brothers, Mormon fathers, and Mormon grand- fathers. To be specific, the website lists 146 cases where MORMON MISSIONARIES and return missionaries have sexually abused their victims! Have Woods, Sher, and Glausi been under a rock? These hundreds of victims are greatly disrespected by this film as it portrays the "missionaries" as "victims"! I see why thousands of ex-Mormons and Christian pastors are globally boycotting this sick twisted film. Can TIFF give me my money back?

Thanks for uploading this. I sought this out because I had read something about the interview being embarassing for Coppola. Aside from the surprising glitch to not remember "Rebel Without a Cause" -- kind of like calling Coppola's films "The Grandfather" and "The Grandfather Part II" -- I thought he was normal and thoughtful through the interview. But I am commenting here to agree with those who found the audience behavior shocking, bizarre, and disturbing. Coppola is a fearless filmmaker - *hahaha* - Haitians are the kindest people - *hahaha* - Let's use our time remaining to talk about the future - *hahaha* - humans are a creature of creativity and genius - *HAHAHA*. Each of the three on the stage have achieved more individually than that entire audience put together. So incredibly disrespectful and ignorant. Makes me want to stay away from the movie theater! That's the Toronto crowd, I suppose?
