Ohhh wow!! Been working on a bank interior recently and got a bit stuck but man this has inspired me so much for a fancy interior! Love all the color and parts choices, especially on that interior floor!

I'm so glad to hear from another true LEGO LOTR fan. There's a lot of buzz around this set, but I can tell you're being honest about the whole thing and not letting the hype cloud your judgement. I love that we're getting Barad-Dur, and that the LOTR line is continuing, but I think they could have given us something great for around $350. Rivendell was totally justified by its size, but this one seems a bit excessive. I agree with you on the Sauron critique. I think the shoulder/helmet piece is really bulky, and his mace not being a custom molded weapon is a disappointment. I don't like the new Gollum arms, they should have used the old ones. I absolutely hate the new Orc hair piece, it gives me "teen heartthrob vampire" vibes. Gothmog and the Uruks are sweet, but I'm not sure I like their new helmets, and I think Gothmog's face printing is off a bit. The helmets for Frodo & Sam are killer, but it sucks we didn't get new printing for their torsos & heads. Mouth of Sauron is a bonus. The Fell Beast GWP is fine I think, but I would have liked the old black hood rather than this new one. Printed eyes for the beast would have been nice too.
The pricing strategy is definitely off, and came during peak “LEGO can sell anything for crazy money, lets make a $500 barad dur”, them knowing they need to be backing off that is why its $460+gwp, but i still see this set not selling that well. Other pts are definitely true too.
@@cheeseontop17 Yeah honestly Orthanc was amazing for the cost, and I didn’t mind the very few minifigures that came with it. They could have essentially just doubled the price, piece count, and minifigure count, then adjusted for inflation and I think it would’ve been a home run. This thing is massive for the sake of being massive I feel.
Shoot actually Orthanc was $200 and about half the size, so this is basically double plus inflation. It just feels like less for more haha.
@@GardenOfFigs orthanc had a lot more direction from the movies for the interior and it shows. figs all really good, and the treebeard and eagle as extras. much better value
@@cheeseontop17 Yeah I totally agree, I wish they still had the old team on these new sets. I’m still excited despite all of my criticism though. I’m sure we’ll both love this one and the next that LEGO puts out.
Heavily disappointed ngl, or maybe im just too nostalgic for the old Lego Lotr
especially the sauron minifigure i was expecting something like the video game, not to mention the orcs that look like something out of lego castle, new gollum looks like a megablock knock off and the new frodo and sam look identical to their cartoony selves in rivendell, lego couldve made them look more worn and tired. the build looks okay. So far im heavily disliking the new aproach lego is taking with the new Lotr sets.
Original LOTR was certainly a lot better. This isnt bad but LEGO has gotten worse in areas, and you see this across themes.
Three things I like are the helmets from Frodo and Sam, the new Gollum and the colour of the eye of barad dur
I honestly don‘t like it. I might be the only one but I hate the orcs. One of them looks like a star wars pirate 💀The Suaron is just lame, how did LEGO give him the shprt legs?!? The mouth of Sauron also looks the same… The interior of barad dur looks also lame
Yeah i think u hit it w them looking like SW mandalorian figs. Same thing with Monkie kid. LEGO doesnt seem to be able to separate themes anymore when it comes to figure design. My rxn was blunted here but when i heard Mouth of Sauron was coming I was pretty disappointed, same old same old. Part of why i think this needed that X-factor/fresh troll. The interior doesnt do much for me either.

Yeah Ill be at the Lego store June 1. The orcs have me hyped and i like the build but at a ~$500 price tag which includes a lot of okayish stuff it doesnt hit the same
You should replace bobas torso with a non cracked torso. Since its not exclusive.

Are you gonna replace that torso? Since its not exclusive you can swap it out with a non cloud city boba fett. Also custom cape sites like capes4minifigs sell custom capes including landos.

Wow, this is incredible! I really like how you managed to make this look almost exactly like the Peter Jackson film. Edit* I almost forgot, I think a great MOC would be an Osgiliath MOC, since Lego never made an Osgiliath set.

My moms old boss runs a record store and he got a lot of legos a while back, I often stopped in there and the first few times I found a couple good figs like kit fisto tobey spider man the og p1 clones and some of the light up figs, I went there one day and he told me he got another huge lot of lego, I found things like p1 Rex and fox, the og kashyyk clones. Most the figs came in the medium ziploc bags so I could only see some of the figures in them, when I got back home I opened the bags and found cloud city Luke legs and Landos torso, and a classic boba fett helmet I told my dad how much they were and he brought me back to try to find the rest of the figures, I found 2 og dagobah Luke’s, Jedi bob an old count dooku and even more light up figures. I couldn’t find the rest of the figures but I was happy with what I got. My cousins birthday came up and with him being 7 he loves lego city, I remember they had a bunch of the bags of city figs that I didn’t look in because I didn’t think I would find anything, I bought the city figs for him and when I got home to wash them off I found the Lando cape and bobas legs, I was so pumped and told my dad we had to go back and find the rest of him but the store closed and we weren’t able to go until the next weekend, when we got there I ran to the bucket with all the minifigures and loaned behold there was nothing there. I’m still happy with what I got and they still have some cool pieces to classic sets but there aren’t many parts to figures left other than random arms and hands at the bottom of the assorted bins, also at our second stop there I didn’t know at the time but I had grabbed a lot of the big plates that make up the base to the cloud city set so I was kind of able to rebuild the set, I found a lookalike torso for Luke and I ordered the classic grays boba fett body, I’m planning on buying the rest of him off my cousin who has a bunch of his childhood lego and is going to college soon

A type of orc is a average of about 8bucks the one i could find and the big cave troll the one i could find in decent condition while also being cheap is about 34. USD
