Hi, in terms of MMI preparation, I don’t think there’s one particular resource that’s used to prepare for MMI. What I did was basically to check google for some mock questions on MMI stations, I also practiced a lot of ethical questions on the SJT part of resources, like Medify and I also brushed up on my ability to read graphs and do simple maths. That’s all i did, hopefully I’ve been able to help a little. Best of luck.

Hi there, in the first year there are 3 ways that you’ll be assessed in 3 ways. Your professional knowledge, clinical skills and professionalism. Professional knowledge is further broken down into: AKT (clinical knowledge) , AST(anatomy) and IRAT scores. AKT and AST are final exams done at the end of each term. Clinical skills: is assessed by OSCEs Professionalism is assessed by your attendance and some feedback forms(and resulting any issues with your professionalism)

Yes either in chemistry or biology.

I’m not really sure, the best way to know and get the most accurate information is to email the university, as I’m just a student. But I think It should be possible, if you get an A in chemistry but not biology.

Hi I’m not sure if we use Gpa as an entry requirement, expect you’re in your 2nd year of biomedical sciences at Brunel university. I think we use A-levels, GCSEs and a bachelors degree. But I could be wrong so it’s always best to check the medical school website for more information.

I checked the website and there’s no specific instructions for Ghana but there is for Nigeria and Kenya, I think the requirements for those two countries could be applied to Ghana as well as they both have similar requirements. In regards to your question, the honest truth is that I have no idea cause I’m just a student but once you get to the MMI stage, I think whether you get in or not is going to really depend on your MMI score, so hopefully if you really did well in your MMI score they’ll be more flexible but I have no idea, this is all hypothetical thinking.

Hey, irats are summative but each individual irat counts as a very small percentage of your final grade so if you fail one or two it won’t really affect your end of term grade a lot.

what's the pass mark for the year? And what's the weighting of each IRAT roughly? Are they hard?@@theinternationalmedic

The school will send you an email if you were shortlisted for the interview, as of when you’ll get this email, i think it’s only the admissions team that can answer that question. As of when I did it the top scores for the MMI interview were offered a scholarship interview, where they chose the top 5.

there was no mention of IELTS in the offer and it required English qualifications from my school but will there be a trouble during visa process with no IELTS, by the way I am from India

For this question it will always be best to ask the admissions team directly as I’m just a student, but I’ll do my best to help you with my limited knowledge. Firstly congrats on your offer, I think it mainly depends on your options, if you have a lot of offers from different medical schools or you’re sure that you’ll get another offer from other medical schools, then even if you reject the Brunel offer, you’ll still be able to make it into medical school. The fee payment by the 6th of June is to confirm your interest in Brunel, if you don’t pay it i think they’ll give your offer to someone on the waiting list.

I would say it’s always best to have done ielts especially as an international student, or if not IELTS maybe an equivalent. Only Uk home students don’t need ielts, to the best of my knowledge. For a more accurate answer please ask the admissions team.

@theinternationalmedic ok so my parents want to know about brunel like about patient contact and is teaching by TBL is effective enough? Any particular advantage for studying in brunel? and the last Why is the ranking of brunel medical school relatively low than other as its been 3 years or ranking would improve when 1st cohort passes??

Hi there, it’s very rare that they’ll do lecture based seminars here and there, the only subject they use lecture based teaching for consistently, is histology and maybe medical humanities which you’ll have, like 2-3 times (at most) in an academic year.

Hey, good luck on your application to Brunel I hope it goes well, but unfortunately I can’t remember exactly what I got in UCAT because I did it like 3 years ago, but I know i didn’t do well. Realistically I wouldn’t really use my grades as a benchmark because I applied 3 years ago so the entry requirements will most likely be different for you.

I’m glad that you enjoyed the video, I applied 3 years ago and when I was applying I just used my Bio-med degree and I didn’t really apply with UCAT grades, but to answer your question I got a 1st in my degree and in my UCAT I didn’t do too well. But I’ve forgotten the actual score I got. Cause it’s been 3 years. The reason it’s 3 years is cause when I initially applied to Brunel covid happened so our start date got postponed by a year.

Hy I have one question

Is brunel university take interview to international students

Brunel does integrated learning, first we learn the anatomy of that part of the body, then we have team based learning sessions, then we add to our knowledge by practicing our clinical skills on that part of the body (e.g. a cardiovascular exam to know if a patients heart is working well) or talk to patients that might suffer with such diseases. We have integrated learning we just use a TBL format to learn as opposed to a problem based learning (PBL) format.

Thanks for reaching out to me, I’m planning on working with the school to make an MMI video on their channel I think this would be better for students, because I did my MMI a long time ago so things will be different for anyone applying now.
