Hi, what are your contact details and what areas do you cover??
Please could you tell me where you are based and your contact details? Thanks!
So while its in the siphon mode does the flame go out after little while and does it come back on automatically after its filled
@@nazali5947 it runs in minimum output so it condenses the most. Once the time period is finished it then runs as normal
Like and subscribe please! We need a thousand. And video ideas comment below and I’ll make it happen!
How long would this job taken you from getting the exchanger out from underneath compared to going in from the front ?
Generally faster dropping it underneath if it will go. If you turn up with the mindset and rip the pump straight out tho it can be incredibly fast too. There’s another vid on my Channel showing it that way. It’s easy once you done it
Pipe froze
It’s heating pipes in a screeded floor. Was thinking maybe just a fault from when it was made. Not sure though
@plumbertime well ig I'd have too go with your answer, seen quite a few pipes spraying water with those fine thin cracks under our house, we didn't have them wrapped good enough, and winter froze them up bad.
@@bernardomerin4761 yeah, it was strange as I looked inside the pile and it didn’t look thin or anything, so no idea
doesn't cover the horizontal measurements, only the vertical ones.
It’s not really a how to fit a radiator start to finish, it’s just a quick tip for getting the height correct. For horizontal just put the radiator against the wall and draw a mark where brackets are
Hows it going mate? Do you think i should become a Gas Engineer or Sparky? I like both but i don't think gas has much of a future since new builds are turning all electric. Honestly mate, what do you think?
@@LouieMoney-c9f both are the best trades I’d say. Do plumbing and gas, a big part of plumbing and gas is electrics anyway. There will always be heating engineers to install heat pumps anyway if it goes that way. But I reckon personally we might go slightly hydrogen blend. Everyone needs plumbing and heating! It’s a very diverse job too. If you get good you can earn very well and every house is a customer! If you do a fast track course go work with a company for a few years doing general plumbing and heating. You will learn very quick this way as lots of diverse jobs and experienced engineers to learn from.
@@plumbertime thank you so much mate, this has got to be the most useful answer I've been given on this question. I'll most likely become a plumber now.
@@LouieMoney-c9f best thing I ever did and I could go walk in to plenty of jobs tomorrow if I wanted, you’re in demand 💪🏻👍😂
Have to give it to them it's a nice tidy job , that's the guttering
😂😂 it's to catch the drips of condense the flue is falling out
I would of rather angled the flue that get up there on the ladder to do that 😂
Glow worms AAV tube discharges under the boiler just behind the condense. Had them fail afew times now and customer reports water leaking from the boiler.
Good to know 👍 Edit went back there today to sort it out and you’re correct. It sits in a slot that would drain out the casing
@@plumbertimeglowworm had an issue on a flexicom. It was dormant for a while but hydrogen leaked from the auto air vent ….some one turned it on and I think there was a bit of a boom…now they put the tube on to vent it straight out of boiler
@@tomstrutton4351 I have a short vid that is much under viewed where I light hydrogen gas build up on a towel rad! 😂 Now you say that it makes perfect sense to vent it outside! 🍺👍 Just re uploaded it
@@plumbertime couldn’t get a radiator valve tail out of a radiator last year….put some heat on it and bang! Blew black shit water up this ladies wall…and made me jump
@tomstrutton4351 effing he’ll mate couldn’t even make that up. That would have shook me. Reminds me of a dodgy pcb fault on an old to rI had where you’d have the case off and the fan would cut out. The flames would blow out the boiler in your face.
If I had 8 rads, would you recommend the lowest heat output?
@@jackfulton6789 12kw is good starting point. Then if all working great still then drop it down a bit. You’d get to a point where it doesn’t seem to heat up the house anymore. That would be too low. Ideally you want the flow temperature to be low too but that depends on the size of the radiators.
@@plumbertime Yeah so ive range rated it down to 7kw and my flow temperature is 45 degrees. Works great!
The heating of the pcb from the hair dryer is for the capacitors on the boards. It's not s permanent fix but it does work sometimes. The heat increases the capacitance.
Good to know, it’s worked on glowworm hxi too for me.
You started by removing the external wires straight away. This is the same method I use. Great place to start. Good video mate.
Thanks pal. 🍺
Thanks for the video.
👍
I’ve had that with an Ideal Logic case seal too. The boiler was less than 2 years old in a new build. Fxxk knows what caused it 🤷♂️
@@brendanwilkes5333 this case was cracked and one broken hinge boiler had grease on the top so think maybe cooking oil messed it up!? Never seen it before of since
Think cooking oil was getting sucked in the case and making the seal go funny on that ideal. Noticed some audio is missing! The other ideal had a split plate
thax ❤❤
Do you have to drain the boiler down first to replace that valve?
@@davidbailey9634 yes
You can get those pumps on drill attachment that works aswell but need big battery on the drill.
Where did you connect it to people are asking 😁
@@AlexRocks24-7 it’s on the cold inlet. It would work on draincock too. If you go through the top of cylinder you need to get airlock through pump with wet vax to get it going
have you heard about small compressor?? you don't need any pump or mains power
@@sytyvadi5091 no, but I did wonder can I force air in to the cylinder like an accumulator to boost it out, is it possible?
Ouch ! Could have had nasty consequences....
Looks like its not been crimped
Poor quality control, clearly hasn’t been crimped together and still on the shelf to purchase 😅
Never seen this too 🫤 Must be a faulty patch from the factory .
Thankfully just used the old hose
@@plumbertime I always keep some on the van
What is that how you put inhibitor in the system?
@@HIMITSONLYRIGHT it siphons in by opening either the boiler drain off or maybe bleeding a radiator lower, or a draincock. Here a drain off was opened on a radiator to pull all the inhibitor in
Thank you for this Video. Boiler was off for a week and for some reason went into siphon mode and couldn't figure out how to turn it off
@@davidl2650 it’s a safety feature so make sure you turn it back on
Joke lol cold bypass
No prv either on undersized electric boiler, that’s why cold valve is almost closed too, nightmare
It's obviously the hamster of the houses assault course 😅
@@rossmacnab2655 Crazy
@@plumbertime Agree 👍
A cold bypass! Seriously 😂
Sh17 boiler
They are good boilers overall
Thank you good sir . 😎
I always keep an old fashioned type mop with the long white string head in the van , it’s perfect for unblocking toilets and it’s easy money£££ 👍
Just out of interest, we have the same boiler at a gym I own. How do you call for heat to the radiator with the thermostat as its nowhere to be seen? Surely you can do it manually by the boiler? Thanks
If you had a thermostat then nothing on the boiler will make it work unless the thermostat is on. Generally boilers rely on getting a live power from controls to fire up.
On old cylinders I always provide a disclaimer before starting to remove an immersion to the client. Basically ‘ if I attempt to remove the immersion and damage the cylinder, it’s a new cylinder. There’s your price for a new immersion. And this price for the cylinder’. I get the client to ok the cylinder cost before I even start. Had one of these a couple of weeks back. As soon as the copper started buckling I gave it up. Had 2 primatics in 2 weeks after 10 years of none!!! How mad is that!!!
Yep. Always communicate, this is the key with all jobs so you have happy customers.
Hi mate good informative video. Keep it up.I have a Worcester greenstar 30i. When the boiler hot water is on the pressure drops and when the hot water is off the pressure increases to just over 3 bars. What could be the problem. Cheers.
Maybe plate heat exchanger has pinholed. Try to drain the boiler with the cold off, then open the cold supply and it may fill up the pressure. It probably drops when you use it as the dynamic water pressure changes to below the standing pressure.
@@plumbertime hi mate thanks for the reply. Does a pinhole in the heat exchanger increase the temperature on the boiler to close to a 100?
@@bennyben8390 no, I couldn’t think of a reason for the pressure being high when not in use but when using it the pressure drops, it’s strange, only rare thing I thought was maybe split plate, If it’s overheating tho then it will be something else. Just call out a local heating company.
@@plumbertime ok cheers thanks for your reply
Our radiator in our sons room did this i tightened the base and stopped is this a fault?
It needs replacing. As the valve closes it bounces and makes noise. Turning them can stop it but they need to be replaced, or you can just unscrew it. But then it doesn’t regulate temperature
Plumber time Thanks for a good video on fitting a new rad on old valves .Regards Chris 👍
Thanks, hope it comes in handy!
As good as these videos are, they encourage homeowners to do their DIY repairs to their boiler. Which is scary and dangerous.😮
Thanks, to be fair people can learn all sorts of things on the internet and the instructions that are left with the customers has all these details in it.
Great video, thanks. I have the same boiler and i think its the fan has failed, it blew the fuse on the control board, so i changed that but it still wont work, the blue light flashes quickly which I think means the fan is faulty?
The light can flash in different ways, the information in the manual can point you in the right direction but you should get a gas engineer who is experienced in Worcester boilers to fix it as it’s not a diy job. You need to carry out safety checks and these can not be carried out without specialist tools
It would be helpful if you’d tell the viewer what you’re doing.
Sorry it was more aimed for engineers who would understand it, basically I used the mains pressure from the shower to clear the airlock. Can also do this if the shower is pumped.
@@plumbertime Thanks. My airlock is moving around the plumbing system. One day there will be cold water only in the main shower, the next, the kitchen sink downstairs, then the spare bathroom upstairs. I feel like I need to shut off the main and work my way through draining all fixtures and appliances.
Thanks for this mate but at about 45secs in you say ‘ chimney sweep’ instead of’ siphon fill ‘ cheers though
lol I do make mistakes sometimes as I usually just do one video
You don’t need to take away the 2.5 from the 5 cm isn’t it you add them together and then you add those with the measurement you get from the floor to the centre of the radiator valve and that’s where you put the marking for the bottom of the bracket?
Hating every noise that techno bs flush is making with the plastic. Made with no regard to the possibility something might need repairing
Terrible design
Mate we have all been there it’s the same stubbornness that gets the job over the line ultimately. Great videos keep them coming .
👍
I’ve connected a bit of speed fit pipe to the mains inlet to the tank and pushed down the cold feed before. Has worked for me.
Yes that can work too.
Could you have cut in that tee and just stuck a bottle vent on that lever and it would have done the same thing? Or is a bottle vent not a big enough bleed point?
Yes any thing where air could escape would work. I’d of closed any aav though as potentially could suck in air! In future someone will be loving it that there’s a lever valve there to clear any airlock,
So 22mm was cold feed to cylinder. (Hot) 28mm was cold to outlets! Just to clear that one up
You basically cut a tee on the cold feed bleed air out. Agree those usp pumps with smaller impeller are shite.
Yep exactly that.
@plumbertime Thanks may try it as sometimes get stuck trying get the air out for while.
@@b1h2u3p4 That usually works every time the wet vac doesn’t. Not all the time though unfortunately 😂
