this anime spoil my mood entire day....give me back my soul

the fact she didn’t even get to die to her illness makes it even more sad

I think its kind of confusing how the movie revolved around the pancreas disease of the girl - by that I mean that it wasn't like an unimportant part of the character, it was a huge plot point, we see the girl being put into the hospital, we see her bag full of tablets, she has a diary about her illness - yet instead of showing the progression of the disease and how It made the girl feel worse, it shows her dying by... A knife stab. As if the whole "this girl has a pancreas disease and is dying from it" plot point wasn't that important when it actually was. The movie is great, but the ending is confusing, but maybe its because I was expecting something similliar to "Your lie in April"? Idk, that's just my opinion.

Today was one of the most weird things(coincidences) that had ever happened to me in a long while. I was listening to music, and at some point I just paused and went doing other stuff, chores, watching YT. I came across this video(I watched this anime awhile ago now) and by the time I finished watching it I've decided to listen to some more music. I hit the play button without noticing the song's name and guess what song it was ..................... "Staying Alive" I just bursted into uncontrollable bitter laughter and sadness at the same time. This is either just a universal coincidence or targeting my online activity at its finest

Before the ending i thought she is gonna die by illness, boy's gonna broke and that's a regular sad ending but the moment it turned out that she got stabbed..................

one of the most wtf moment, not a good plot twist at all

Kudos on who wrote this movie though. It's a movie about a dying girl, the first scene shows her funeral, they keep highlighting the fact that she's going to die... and yet, when she actually does die, it's a shocking plot twist! How does one even pull it off so well? Not to mention, this is one of the smartest ways of using the Chekhov's Gun trope ever. You only hear that there's a murderer on the loose as the background noise in one scene, and it's so forgettable that no one would blame you for not noticing. That goes beyond "if there's a gun on stage", this is having an actor listing down 20 items present in the room, with the gun being the 13th one, so no one pays attention when it is established to be used later.

Dam I remember this anime, I was crying as baby in my 30-is, so sad and good anime.............

this movie is sad thats its almost fked up how sad it is like, you're anticipating the ending where her illness causes her to pass away but nope, she gets murdered absolutely unfair. this anime, and your lie in april. there should be a law that states that anime movies cant be made this sad.

out of all the animes i watch with some pretty tamed moral like this one, i've never seen any convey the message as well. Making us think that she won't die until her disease will worsen even more but then having her die one day randomly really convey the existence of death in everyone's life and the uncertainty of life

A family member recommended this for me to watch... let's just say this scene emotionally scarred me for the rest of the movie.

I didn't expect her to be murdered, in fact I think it was good since it takes you by surprise without seeming like a narrative device taken out of nowhere since the murderer is mentioned twice in the movie. And I liked it more because of Haruki's personality. This movie makes you think many things, especially that the world is shit in many ways, because people who are fortunate enough to create memories for a loved one, naturally do stupid things and destroy that possibility, and those who long for that, only have the option to remain silent and not express what they want since they are seen as needy and are undervalued for that.

The music is great. The movie? Not so much.

I remember this scene. I had mentally prepared for Sakura to die eventually, but this, oh boy her death was crafted perfectly - having her be killed, instead of pass away from the illness. It was legitimately like a sucker punch to the gut. Even as I rewatch this scene I remember that reeling shock again.
