Country Music Star Eric Church + NASCAR Driver Chase Elliott | Lunch with Lindsay Podcast EP1

In the inaugural episode of the “Lunch with Lindsay" #podcast, Lindsay Czarniak sits down with #countrymusic singer-songwriter Eric Church and #nascar racecar driver Chase Elliott. To begin their conversation, Chase and Eric commiserate over their shared winter sports injuries. Chase discusses his recent snowboarding injury and how it’s impacted his NASCAR schedule. For his own part, Eric Church broke his shoulder snowmobiling on his family’s latest vacation and carried his son, who was also in the accident, for several hours to ensure he was safe.
After swapping stories, Lindsay explores Eric and Chase’s personal outlets and the different ways they step away from the stage and the racetrack for their peace of mind and mental well-being. For Eric, that once meant chainsawing (yes, chainsawing), while Chase tells Lindsay about his desire to continually find fun outside the NASCAR standings in order to conserve his competitive fire. Listen as both men talk about the need to release steam from the “pressure valve” while operating at the highest levels of their profession.
As they continue chatting, Chase reveals to Lindsay that Eric Church, well-known for his country song “Talladega,” is one of his favorite musicians and shares the connection he’s made with Eric’s lyrics, as well as his fascination with the country music songwriter’s creative process. But where these two really connect is in their relationship to fame. In Eric’s case, it really started after the release of the “Chief” album and the subsequent Eric Church Tour, which skyrocketed him to fame overnight. Chase, to some extent, has always been in the limelight as the son of Winston Cup Series champion and former NASCAR driver, Bill Elliott, but describes to Lindsay how he leans on his family to remain grounded and focused on NASCAR results.

Fantastic interview. Never really knew much about Eric Church I guess. Have always liked the songs he's had on the radio over the years but for some reason never dug any deeper. Really liked his collab with Lzzy Hale on the CMAs and since then you tube has been feeding me more of his stuff. This interview started the deeper dive for me... A couple days and several interviews later and Imay be a bit obsessed. I'm not sure how I've gone this long knowing so little about him.
