i've been riding a pioneer 49er, ralston standard and my beater burton around the north east for almost 2 years. some places all for it, some have threw me out. trying not to be "foot traffic" by kicking around and having a strap ready to go help a lot. havent seen another skater out here yet, but i hope it catches on out here. and conor, mt snow and jay peak are all mountain, and i havent been bitched at for a strap. hope to see ya out there

fantastic! great to see some more cruising oriented snowskating ( for the aging longboard cruiser in us all). Rail flip rail flip vids are fun but tend to get a little repetitive imo, and I love the chilled slick riding in this vid. And drool at the sight of the ralston deck.... keep it up!

You should try a Sno22 Glide. Much easyer to ride. More fun in the City and Park. snoglide.de

@croyx Riding a snowskate at a resort in the north east would be gnar! I'd suggest getting a skate that is narrow, long, and has sharp edges for the ice. As far as resorts out there that allow it, not sure, I'd call and find out. There's a data base and other info at projectsnowskate(dot)com.

@tahoeclimber do you know if there are any resorts near virginia tech that allow snowskates? im a florida boy who skiis every once in a while but im going to vt for college and this looks like an awesome substitute for longboarding during the winter months. and i like the idea of not being attached to the board looks so gnarly!

@cheapanddeap I looked at your question again. The 134cm Boyd Hill might be okay, but that still seems way too small to me. Maybe only good for 12" of compact pow. I've ridden the Florida 151cm and that's a pretty good all around size. I own a Florida 158cm for deep pow. The width of the ski is important too. If it's too wide in the rear it's hard to steer on groomers. I live in the sierras so that's a consideration for the type of snow I ride, deep slightly wet/warm snow.

@cheapanddeap No, a short skinny Lib or Ralston won't float in deep pow at all. In my opinion Florida Powskates work the best for resort powder to groomers to chair lift runs. Google it. You can also cut a powskate shape out of an old snowboard, preferably a reverse cambered board. Other powskate companies that I'm aware of are Pioneer, Rival, and Minus 7.
