#carbonfiber #diy #370z How to Make a Carbon Fiber Shift Surround 370Z [DIY] (Carbon Fiber Skinning) I am not an expert at making carbon fiber parts. Almost all products used in the video were purchased at Composite Envisions compositeenvisions.com/ I clear coated it with a cheap rattle can spray clear, I would not recommend it. I would typically use Nason 498-00 I didn't want to waste it on a ...
To match work
Came out looking like ass 🤣
You should make side splitters and diffusers for v2 nismo to match this gorgeous front lip!
Why did you multiplay the resin with 0,33? I thought its like alwys half the gramms of the resin like 100g resin and 50g hardener
I ordered this lip, but it didn’t come with the bolts. Can you tell me what size bolts you used please
Looking 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Good. But not real carbon fiber
it's not a carbon fiber mold title says carbon fiber skinning. but that is in fact real carbon fiber
Should make a front lip for v1 Nismo
I wish you guys made the side splitters so ir would match the front splitter.
Do you sell these panels finished?
awesome stuff my brotha!
Please use a respirator when cutting carbon. Little diamonds in your lungs are not just gonna go away. It‘s basically asbestos
This video gives me anxiety, getting everything all over your gum tape! 😅😅
Muy buen tutorial,gracias👍
Tires of videos and people just covering there shit I want a full carbon build 🙄
You do good work
where the honercomb fabric from though i been looking everywhere ?
it was not best way to do it... but still not bad.
Great job. Looks very good!
What kind of carbon fiber material is this? The website that’s listed has plates, sheets, twill weaves
That's a really expensive way to get delamination in a few years. Simplify the process to save time and money, as well as achieve a result which will last virtually forever... Instead of filler, rough up the surface with 40 or 80 grit sandpaper. Follow that with a rag soaked in acetone. Wipe the entire surface so that the acetone softens the top layer. Immediately follow that with a "laminating" polyester resin (instead of epoxy). Add the black dye if you prefer. Don't wait for the resin to set. Immediately lay the carbon fiber down onto the surface. Use a fiberglass roller or a very firm paint roller to press the cloth into place, as well as to press out any trapped air. Mix a second batch of resin. This time use a "finishing" polyester resin. Again, not epoxy. Alternatively, you can add a wax filler to the same laminating resin used in the initial coat. Use a brush to DAB the resin over the cloth. Do not brush it. After dabbing the second layer, roll that out again. Let the second layer cure completely, overnight. No such thing as over-cured. After that, sand with 2000 grit, then spray the clear coat. Cut and buff to your preference. Results: No wrinkles. Lighter weight. Significant cost savings, as polyester is cheaper than epoxy. No trapped air that will cause future delamination. Also no trapped air means you won't have a blotchy finish. Total labor cut by approximately 75%.
Bro I ain’t trying to be a Karen or anything but I’m filing a complaint to bbb it’s been 4 months and the lead time was only 2-4 weeks… the least you could do is respond to emails and explain the situation. I even tried to cancel and get a refund which shouldn’t be an issue but apparently even that’s too much for you to do. Shady company.
I sometimes even forget I ordered from you but $450 isn’t free money to give away. I want my items.
@@devilz3494 ever got your stuff back I ordered 2 weeks ago and nothing now I see a lot of comments that they not getting thier stuff so I need help how to get my money back or get my stuff I spent $1,500 on the fenders 😔
@@Money_18 yes I eventually did get my items. Took way too long I’d suggest another company for anyone looking to get CF parts. Also the fitment was meh. My door handles rub against each other too much and you can hear it squeak.
@@devilz3494 like how long bro I ordered fenders they yet have to get back to me bro
I order CF hood and fenders 11 months ago and I’m still waiting for my order and a response email…
Same , I’ve sent multiple emails and nothing
Looks nice!
Omg.... the intro had me 😍🤤😍🤤😍 those door panels came out Amazing!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I want my 370Z door panels to look like this! I changed the fabric but want that look for my doors now. I’m in Cali so now I gotta look for someone to do this for me.
I have a question about using WAX after you using it 4 times? Should WAX be used once and cleaned off. Then use WAX a second time and clean. Then use WAX a third time and clean. Then use WAX a fourth time and clean. Should it be used in this form?
Still waiting on my order and a response email.
Did your order ever come in? I’ve been waiting almost 2 months
@@370Zach yeah unfortunately I had to contact the better business bureau and they got in contact with them THEN I finally got my shit.
@@Vader066 jeez
@@Vader066 did you order 2 mirror caps? I think I saw your complaint online lol
Yeah their communication is terrible and I hate to say that but I’m just being honest. If you are going to shop with them you better be ready to be in the dark for a while.
As much as I love carbon fiber I think this is a little to much carbon fiber.
Masks?? You are literally outside
fantastic 👍
Since you ended up with the carbon bridging in some of the sections(unseen clip areas), do you think with this particular door panel vacuum bagging was necessary? I could see on more complex shapes but this one was pretty flat.
Vacuum bagging gets the bubbles out. It wont help you with the form or anything, it just reduces the amount of epoxy to the required minimum while getting out some air inclusions.
What a waste of carbon fiber you literally did not do any weight reduction you would have a better chance of making a mold of each side put a layer or 2 and mold than them both together for half the Weight
Beautiful job!
Dang! Your the real “chemist “. I would not even know where to start. You should have your own shop, and when you do I will bring my car to ya if it’s not to expensive. If ya don’t have your own shop you should . I just bought a carbon fiber spoiler and it was horrible.. great video!
What epoxy are you using. I haven't been able to get mine to stick to plastic even after using 60grit sanding.
don't compress again, it wrinkle your fabric
that vacuum was freaking smart😭
I tried this and it didn't work. Once your carbon fiber touches the epoxy there's no repositioning it. I let it dry until tacky and it just made a mess of my carbon fiber weave.
Amazing work. 🤘🤘🤘
its like ASMR for modders. 👌
🔥🔥🔥 Nice tutorial. Thanks for the insite.
Crazy the carbon fiber looks great then that shitty leather wrapped door insert makes it look cheap.
Just a tid bit of advice. Use a mild rubbing compound on a foam pad and then use a machine polish on a separate softer foam pad, that will help remove the light hazing (underbuff) and helps eliminate swirl marks. But..that was an amazing end result and absolutely video.
bad quality carbon fiber skining technique
I know this is probably operation budget friendly but dude wear gloves! Slow the heck down when mixing all your doing is aerating your mixture when you stir that fast, and use your brush to work out bubbles or creases on the carbon fiber fabric.
Do you know if I can use polythene over it not peel paper??
Why doesn’t he use two pieces of glass and press it together instead of using the vacuum??
Because 2 pieces of glass won’t get the air out
Any Black Friday deals?
so many wrinkles
