TAS Kills a Ralts

The catching tutorial in Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald is *not* scripted and damage calculations will be used. The only difference between damage calculations in the tutorial and regular battles is that critical hits will never happen. Both Zigzagoon and Ralts' stats are randomized. With this, a very specific combination of Attack IVs from Zigzagoon and HP and Defense IVs from Ralts lets ...

Why Nugget Bridge skip is impossible
มุมมอง 445ปีที่แล้ว
In the original games, if you got traded a poke with Cut, you can beat Misty and skip all of the nugget bridge, bill, and SS Anne. However, in the remakes, a girl with a Slowbro blocks the cut tree that would be needed to skip all of this thus (until you meet Bill), making the nugget bridge no longer skippable. However, what *could* have been an option was death warping out of Cerulean City, go...

Why isn't the audio binaural?
Hey! Great work buddy. I like your commentary and content, keep it up <3
More content like this please? 🙂 would love to see more Pokemon games ran this way.
3:54:46 It just hit me that when you defeated the Rival in Silver, he had to stand there and watch your Marill evolve, before he could go on a rant about how he won't give up until he beats you lol
This is quite possibly, if not definitely, the most insane TAS run ever made. Just the planning alone would've made a normal person lose their sanity, but it's the execution of it that demonstrates the sheer SKILL involved at making something like this. The closest I could ever come to this was when I used to make TAS fights in 3rd Strike, having 1P controls on gamepad and 2P controls on keyboard, and it was such a pain in the ass to make, but the results were so satisfying. But running 3 RPGs simultaneously, all manipulating RNG and timing interactions here and there for all sorts of events and trading, inventory/PC management, evolving, hatching eggs, resetting... just, wow. The more I think about the absolute insane depth of this run the more impressive it gets. Thank you for making this. I am so proud of you. 😊
awesome TAS!

i really enjoyed watching this tas! the commentary was really informative and entertaining. shoutout to those zigzagoons and linoones. they are the cutest heroes
Wow! Great series. Your commentary adds a lot :)
I like to joke about the Pick-Up ability by saying that the Zigzagoon are actually stealing items from Trainers after battles, lol. Just like irl raccoons do to people chilling in parks.
4:27:09 506 EVs? Iirc it's 255 per stat and an overall max of 510
1. Holy cow the level of skill, technical showcase, and culmination of 2 decades of tech, experience, and evolution of these games is ridiculous. This run showcases so many strats and quick time saves I was either watching as they came out, or watching as they were speculated to be possible. Absolute praise for this run, what you guys have displayed is NUTS. 2. The explanations are fantastic, was watching this with one of my lesser speedrun-savvy friends who enjoys pokemon and he was blown away at how many micro-saves there were that added up to potential hours being taken off the run. This is the peak format of a TAS Showcase and is, alongside direct commentated runs, the best TAS i have ever seen in terms of getting someone to "get it" 3. I love gen 3, i love cool stuff in gen 3, this video is 4 and a half hours of gen 3, if I could like it a billion times I would. Hope to see more from you, especially with FRLG and its possibilities.
This is very cool Great explanations, neat tricks and I really appreciate the effort in flushing out these routes for both games. Thanks for going the extra mile to edit and add party member status and whatnot on the vid
One thing I have to mention is that in Emerald up to ORAS is that Pickup works differently as you need Pokemon with said ability to be at least level 21 to get Rare Candies.
@@PKMNwww411_MkII Emerald does not work for this cause Emerald + Ruby misses out on Lunatone while Emerald + Sapphire misses out on Zangoose. But yes, even if it didnt have that, it wouldnt be a viable choice due to the severely nerfed Pickup It has some nice things, such as friendship berries getting Crobat much easier and faster than vitamins would, and Flame Body making egg hatching quicker but those two are insignificant in comparison to the nerfed Pickup
Finally finished watching and it was great! Masterful route work, and the strategies were very interesting :)
@@Wobmiar thank you!
The lesson I learned is that Zigzagoon and Spheal are cute
Was PokeRus used in this? I didn’t see a mention of it, but given the sheer number of wild encounters I’d assume you would pick it up even if it only gives marginal improvements.
@@evilvitamin yes. it was manipped to appear after sapphires first battle with poochyena. I had to find an initial seed that got me a good torchic and pokerus soon after poochyena. It was later traded to ruby and both sides reaped the benefits of it
Once I come back from getting cannabis at the Canadian dispensary and beer; I'm going to watch this vidyo.
Someone did all of Pokemon Red and Blue 150 TAS Diploma before, honestly it's amazing to see another one of these
I love all the sass in the commentary track! Makes it a lot more fun to read through than if it was bland. Sapphire is a monster for real, leaving New Mauville with a broken generator...
What about DPPt/HGSS Nat Dex? Does that seem more doable than RSE?
@@celestialTangle not really. even with all of the games, we miss out on the regis regional dex for the sinnoh games isnt interesting at all since it only requires seeing the pokes instead of catching them, meaning that it only requires one game. for HGSS, it's doable (ignoring technical limitations) but it's very very rough since one of the games needs to complete the game and defeat red *twice* for the Kanto starters
@@gabraltar7506Wouldn't regional dex for DPPt still need two games since Diamond/Pearl need Palkia and Dialga from each other and Platinum needs Manaphy from Pokémon Ranger?
Thinking on what would need to be done to get a Co-Op National Dex run for Ruby/Sapphire.... - Pokemon XD: Gale Of Darkness for Lugia, and the Johto starters (also obtainable in Emerald, but would require restarting it twice to get all 3 as the Johto starts are one per save file). - Pokemon Colosseum for Ho-Oh, and the Legendary Dogs. - FireRed *and* LeafGreen for their exclusive Pokemon that don't appear in R/S, plus the Legendary Birds and Mewtwo - I don't believe there's a legitimate way to obtain Mew or Deoxys without glitches. Perhaps a TAS would allow using ACE to create their event items in Emerald to be an exception to an otherwise glitchless run. - An Australian (or maybe European?) version of Pokemon Channel for Jirachi. Since Co-Op (Regional) Diploma runs go off the idea that both games involved complete their pokedexs... should that idea apply to a theoretical Co-Op Nat Dex run, all of these games would have to be played to completion. FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald would have to complete all of their National Dex diplomas; while XD, Colosseum, and Pokemon Channel would have to be completed to their equivalent of 100%. TASVideos does not have any published entries for the three Gamecube games, so let's go off their current 100% human WR runs. - Pokemon Channel's 100% is currently 15:34:38 (15h 34m 38s) by Carpaltunnel_of_love. - Pokemon XD: Gale Of Darkness's 100% is currently 18:32:06 (18h 32m 6s) by Ryziken. - Pokemon Colosseum's 100& is currently 17:17:34 (17h 17m 34s) by Daspharaoh on emulator. Obviously all the games would be running at a single time in this theoretical run, but we're still looking at a TAS that's just shy of 20 hours long (though a TAS might be able to make a lot of time in the GC games via optimizing things humans cannot). Putting aside speedrunning, it's insane to see how the incompatibility between Gen 2 and 3 makes completing the Gen 3 Dex an insane task.
@@Luigifan4ever11 Ho-oh, Lugia, Mew, Jirachi and Deoxys are not required for the National Dex diploma Also only Leaf Green is required, as XD and Emerald have all of the Kanto pokes missing from Leaf Green while Colosseum has the missing Johto pokes (Qwilfish, Murkrow and Delibird). Fire Red and Leaf Green would speed this up a good amount cause otherwise Leaf Green needs to complete the postgame quests in order to trade away its starters but its necessary to skip Fire Red to do this with the minimum amount of games necessary. Worth noting as well that the TAS would save a significant amount of time on the 100% runs for XD and colo compared to RTA so it likely wont be as long as 20 hours
@@gabraltar7506I see!! Thanks for the corrections. ❤
Chikorita has the same trait as the singular pokemon, but only on Ruby/Sapphire
@@kamilocastillo5816 yeah that was a glitch interestingly, ho-oh and lugia are required for ruby/sapphire's national dex, likely because gamefreak didnt decide on making them the equivalent of mythical pokemon at the time
Why name yourself A?
Takes less time to display a single-letter name, and A is the fastest one of those to do.
Came here after finishing watching your Ruby/Sapphire co-op regional diploma. Very excited to see this one finished in future, especially with being able to see the differences between this and RS.
I can't believe Lileep blew up all those Claydols with his mind.
Absolutely amazing TAS, and I have to praise your amazing annotations! I love being able to hear not only the strategies and methods used, why certain things are/aren't done, who did all of this, and even things about other runs. Wonderful all around <3 even if you had to do some unethical things to get some pokemon.
That was really really impressive, I am used to watching speed runs and TAS but this is on another level entirely. But where is the beef with poor Sapphire coming from 😅
@@Random_Commoner thank you! and uh idk, I just thought it was funny lmfao
Impressive work indeed. I have no idea how long it took you to complete this. Nothing but pure dedication and passion. Congratulations!
I'm so glad that our poké-society has moved past terminology like "HM slave" to the more appropriate "HM-ployee"

Nah fuck that lol HM slave is the way to go
Nah fuck that lol, everyone still says HM slave
I can definitely appreciate how much work goes into something like this. The annotations are great, the fact about the glitched feebas tiles was interesting, and I like the overarching theme of Ruby being a more kindhearted girl, whereas Sapphire is a heartless monster.
Whoaaa this was so cool! And now i need to watch your other tases and also the professor oak challenge one mentioned
@@pixxyofice the professor oak challenge one isnt done unfortunately but you can find the parts to it on unopenedclosures channel
Goated tas
The idea of a natdex gen 3 run sounds really fascinating, trying to figure out the fewest games it can be done in... XD has all of the Pokemon missing from Emerald's Hoenn dex, as well as nearly every version-exclusive kanto dex Pokemon from FRLG except for specifically Slowpoke afaik, and the Johto mons that would be missing would be in Colosseum. So I guess Emerald, Colosseum, XD, Leafgreen would be the optimal quartet? That would be one brutal TAS to make, though.
Unfortunately, a natdex TAS is not doable as of now. While the GameCube emulator (dolphin) does support GBA multiplayer, there is no encoding available for it. Doing only GBA games is not possible either, as Ruby/Sapphire require Ho-oh and Lugia for their national dex (funnily enough, the other gen 3 games do not) If it were to be made possible, yes you are right in that Emerald, Colosseum, XD, and LeafGreen would be the optimal quartet. It would be absolutely brutal, as LeafGreen would need to complete the game and the sevii island postgame quest *three times* for the Kanto starters, as it cannot trade with any non-Kanto game until then, and it needs to trade over all three Kanto starters. Emerald also needs to complete the game multiple times but it only needs to do so twice, due to the Lati twins. It doesn't need to do so three times cause Colosseum can trade with it anytime. Replacing Colosseum with FireRed would work for this, as FireRed has all of the missing pokes that Colosseum has (Qwilfish, Murkrow and Delibird). However, it would instead force Emerald to complete the game three times since Emerald cannot trade with any of the Kanto games, nor XD until getting the national dex. It would overall be far worse cause three games would need to complete the national dex instead of two (the GameCube games would just be 100%ed by purifying all of the shadow pokemon) if it ends up being doable, I will absolutely do it, purely because of how absolutely absurd the idea of a TAS like that is.
@@gabraltar7506 maximum respect. as a massive fan of the gamecube pokemon duology i would be absolutely stoked for that incredibly stupid run if it ever becomes feasible A small mercy is that, presumably, you'd still only have to actually complete the national dex for 2 games (Emerald, LG). Colo and XD's strategy memo isn't a proper Pokedex (it's mostly just a type chart and model viewer, I don't think it even tracks the difference between 'seen' and 'caught') and only completing the snag list/purification is actually noticed and rewarded by the game. And thank god for that, there'd be enough trading as is.
You need to do gen 1
Wondering who this "banned speedrunner" you mentioned is. 👀
a speedrunner by the name of Jadiwi. He previously had top level times in several pokemon games but was caught cheating and had all of his run removed and permanently banned from the leaderboards and community. One of the more amusing pieces of evidence for him cheating was his 2nd place Pokemon Sapphire run, as it had several mistakes only a beginner would make. The most amusing of which was him walking in front of the mom instead of talking to her directly, which not only loses time due to her having to walk up to him, but messes up a Wingull manip later on (it relies on his step count being exact). The step count he was on by the time he did Wingull manip messed up around half of the frames it would otherwise work on. He claimed to have grinded Pokemon Sapphire for hours a day, yet was making beginner level mistakes. There was more than just the mom thing, but that was arguably the most egregious of which. That particular piece of evidence wasn't definitive and it was something else that got him caught with 1000% certainty but it was a particularly amusing piece of evidence that got quite a lot of memes from the community after the scandal. Oh, he also tried stealing thousands of dollars in bounties for his fake times. PulseEffects has a great video on it if you wanna learn more

3:40:46 not that it really matters since Ruby is still grinding, but wouldn’t it be faster to switch Feebas to the front slot so that you don’t have to set the Pokémon receiving blocks every time?
I didnt really bother timing it since ruby finishes earlier either way but it likely would have been close given how switching Feebas to the front is an entire menu

at 1:04:40 why not put silcoon and cascoon in the party now instead of the next box
the second PC visit in the contest hall is needed to free up a spot for lileep so I chose to get cascoon and silcoon there instead. the first one is needed to get machop so that it can get paraed by the roselias on that route specifically it doesnt matter which one I get silcoon and cascoon at since it wouldnt change the amount of pc sessions I had to do
