Love it, boys!
Hate to see greedy inconsiderate people fishing in alaska. Lived there and fished all over. We never keep any halbut over 70lbs. There meat is full of worms and we save the big fish as breeders to help sustain the fishery. Bad video
I don’t have a charter business. I just fish with a friend with a bad ass boat.
Whats your outfit? I want to go out on your fishing charter.
What kind of gun are you using.
A 410 single shot
We always called that recipe halibut ala Lyndsey. No hot sauce though.
Weed barrier?
Thanks for letting me relive our time on the Kasilof! Love it!
Glad you enjoyed it
I can’t imagine 190,000 fish. We came up the following week and had 60,000 a day and we crushed them. Plus they were HUGE.
It’s insane how good it is with 190k fish. Almost unbelievable
Fishing with firearms. Gotta love it. That haul will set you up for the whole year.
Hey boys how about letting the barn doors go back for sustained fishing for generations to come
36" is a "California Tropphy!" My two bigggest was 62 pounds and my next one was 58 pounds form Seward. O got an 18n pound Goldeneye once which my buddies dwarfed. His was the third largest goldeneye caught in Alaska at that time. It was 26.4 pounds
Thanks Tim and Don, what a fun trip. Great video Don!!
It was a ton of fun. Glad you liked the video
Nice Don! Living the dream bro!
You know it!
Yes it has moved I long ways back up there. Thanks for watching. There will be more videos of alaska soon
Wow, that glacier sure has receded a lot over the last 50-years. I used to go there as a kid and it was huge and much closer to the viewing spot from shore.
Looking good
When I was in Alaska 5 years ago before I went to Seward halibut fishing, me and a friend of mine went to a restaurant about a block from Cooks Inlet. I don't remember the name of the restaurant, but the address was 420 on whatever street it was on. I hsd the halibul. Most delicious fish I have ever eaten. I can take all of the best fish I hsve ever eaten together , and they weren't even close to the halibut I had.
Pull up hard and fast on your rod and while you are letting the rod down real like a mfr. You can even bring up yhe big fast if you use this method. I pulled up a 45 pounder from 80 feet of water in a little over a minute. The captain was surprised that I got the fish up that fast. Ger-R-Done! Got-R'-Did.
I went halibut fishing on the Perservance in Seward 5 years ago. The captain put us on a lot of halibut. Everyone got their limit. What a beautiful ride to the spot we fished at. A hour there and a hour bsck, with 3 hours of fishing.
😮 looks good!
Enjoyed the video, great trip!
What cluster,
My God, what a boar... When I become a resident, I'm gonna have to do that...At least once... Great vid-
Above the bridge for what specifically? Thanks for the info! Going to be up there soon- I like your channel, new subscriber, keep up the good work! Tell your Son good job behind the camera!
Sockeye above the sterling bridge you can use 2 hooks. Glad you like it and welcome to the channel
Did you go with a charter? If so who
No this is a friends boat that I fish with and get to film.
Freddy, can I come on a fishing trip with you guys?
@@billbromley354 I don’t run a charter sorry. I just fish on a friends boat and get to make videos
Are we still talking about the 6.5 needmore? Really, nice marketing ploy but your wounding elk At 500 yds regularly. Quit lying, it is inadequate for all big game !
Well I don’t live in the lower 48. We hunt moose and brown bears with them and they seem to work very well especially when you hit them in the vitals! Thanks for your input and thanks for watching.
Finally some real men catching real halibut
I like fishing the Kasilof so much more than the Kenai
I do too. Way less people
Lucky to have been outside of Seward kenai fjords fishing, working on tour boats, no place more beautiful on a clear day! Simple!😉👍
How many can each of you have
2 per person per day 4 in possession
All I can say is what a fiasco! How many of t
No room on that boat
What an absolute shit show, where you guys are there is no need for downriggers just jig em. Plus whoever filleted those fish, needs a lesson or two, cut the belly off homie
We were out there yesterday. Couldn’t ask for better water conditions. Good to see you all did too.
Love your shirt ... buck Fiden
Good for you know body give a fucks
Greatfishing
Shake and bake for chicken is great on halibut also 👍
Great catch and cook
Great halibut trip there.
I have 30 years living in Alaska from Soldotna - Anchorage - Wasila - Palmer and now I had to leave to care for my elderly mother living her last of life in Oregon. I operated fishing & Hunting services all that time. I hope to come back one day and finish life goals. If I did a bait station, I would put out one on Tustumena lake at the far end where some streams are full of fall Salmon, or a few spots bears fish on the Kasilof below the boat ramp to the lake. When guiding silver salmon fishing or hunting moose on my own on the Kasilof R years past I seem some monster Brown bears by luck as I was using a jet boat on the river. Back water channels of the Yenta R are also monster sized Brown bears that are Moose munching killers! I have for my return to Alaska I did an AR 10 in 375 -300 WSM a reloader cartridges that duplicates the 375 H&H magnums. My Rare Brevex Mauser in 8 mm - 378 Weatherby magnum has always been with me. Excellent choice for any of the 416 magnum rifles.
You've figured out how to do the timing thing so do it for the gas as well or use a smaller cam or speed the process up, cause all I see is a waste of gas going on there, but otherwise good little setup
What is this process for?
I'm also curious
It softens the brass so you don’t work harden it with the reloading dies
Sheeesh
Both of those grizzlies need some lead
Only the boar needs the lead. If you take the sow on the Kenai Peninsula it counts against numbers way more than Boar and fish and game will shut the season down early Just like they did this year.
@@doncoatney8974 If you have a jet boat then a location somewhere like 1/2-mile downstream of the Tustumena lake access of the Kasilof R is for some reason the bears know the biggest bad Hugh brown bears fish that spot. No idea what brings these bears here, but I have surprised so many Monsters sized brown bears here as I was ripping along and reach this spot with the jet boat. This river spot flows into first a smooth river bend and into a deep groove Soldotna side is flat heavy forest and bear beds & fish parts all over! Homer side of river is a tall steep bank and if it was me baiting here, I would bait the forest side and set up a high up box blind for self-protection and to see into the forest across the river and a view up and down the river. You can reach this river spot by prop boat but better scout it with caution and the only bad area is around the bend of the boat launch to the lake access. If you would like to know places to find the biggest monster bears or river access to great moose hunting like the Kashwitna R is untouched great boat hunting just ask, surely you have great places though I do like to share knowledge to other outdoorsmen. I share ideas and places because I don't believe in being some asshole, I have even come across hunters with a kill and offered help getting their animal out with my gear and jet boat that is 30 feet and 500 hp big block Chev 402 and chain saw winch.
Was he huffing and smacking his jaws?
Oh yeah
That deckhand needs to get a constitution job. Because he’s not a fisherman, and definitely not a fish processor.
There is no deck hand. This is not a charter. Just friends fishing. Thanks for your input, I will pass it along
Brandon's ATF like 👁👁
I know nothing about this but what is annealing?
Do they have a tendency to crack when you press the slug in, if this isn't done?
It’s softening the brass, so when you work it with the dies the brass don’t work harden and crack.
No. This just makes the brass softer and the life of the brass longer. Working the brass with dies will harden it and could crack it over time if you don’t do this.
@@doncoatney8974 How do you know if the powder loads are consistent like what if there’s like a higher charge I guess I don’t know much about that stuff Like an extra spicy round
You load it yourself from a scale so you know exactly how much powder you put in.
Some good gaff work there guys
Thanks.
