Funny you spent two months in thailand and it was not until you went to laos that you ran into this. I have family in the police there and i will tell you that you can kill someone over there and as long as you have the money its not a problem. I always carry 100 US in my pocket and you will never have a police issue. As soon as they stop you smile and ask the fine and pay and go, simple. Your complaining because you broke the law and got out of it easy with a simple fine. You could have spent several days in jail and then court only to pay not only the police but a lawyer and judge. If you want travel to be like your home only travel at your home. I hate whiny privileged people who think the whole world is the same all over. Its not and sometimes people have to do what they have to do to just feed their family. That 100 US feed all five of those police officers families for the week. Maybe that will make you feel better, its not like you who have it so hard in life compared to those poor laos people. Hope your happy now in that nice white privileged house of yours. What do you think would happen if you go to a poor country and you have nice clean cloths and jewelry and money... da Please do go back again real soon they need your money more than you.

Being caught with a vape at the train station is not the same as being caught with a bottle of water at an airport security checkpoint. You can't simply throw your vape away like how you would dump your forgotten water bottle. Vape is completely banned and absolutely illegal in a lot of countries around the world including Laos and Thailand and many other SEA countries. Being caught with a vape there is no different from being caught with drugs elsewhere or being caught with alcohol in some muslim countries. Try bringing your vape to Singapore and see if you can get away with paying a $100 fine lol...
