I'm a fingerboader from Philippines🇵🇭. My channel is a mixture of sessions, how-to's, unboxings, Trick wars, Trick list and whole bunch of other cool stuff surrounding fingerboarding. This channel isn't just for fingerboarders its substance is reasonable for everybody, no matter what their degree of interest, and I emphatically urge you to watch my video since they are most certainly worth your time
Switch Ollie | Trick List Episode 4
A switch ollie is a skateboarding trick where the rider performs an ollie (a jump that lifts the skateboard off the ground) while riding in their "switch" stance, which is the opposite of their normal stance. For example, if a skater typically rides with their left foot forward (regular stance), a switch ollie would be performed with their right foot forward (goofy stance)
The switch ollie emerged as skateboarding evolved, particularly in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It became more prominent as skaters began to explore and push the boundaries of their skills by riding in their non-dominant stances. Salman Agah is often credited with pioneering switch skating during this period, significantly influencing the skateboarding community and showcasing the switch ollie in various skate videos.
The trick is rooted in the fundamental ollie, which revolutionized skateboarding by allowing skaters to perform a variety of tricks and maneuvers. The ollie itself was popularized by skaters like Alan "Ollie" Gelfand, who is often mistakenly thought to have invented it.
The Switch Ollie is famous for its role in expanding the technical repertoire of skateboarding. It allows skaters to perform tricks in their regular and switch stances, adding versatility and complexity to their skating. This trick is often seen in professional skateboarding competitions and videos, showcasing a skater's skill and adaptability. The switch ollie is also a foundational trick that leads to more advanced maneuvers, making it a crucial skill for aspiring skateboarders.
In summary, the switch ollie is not just a trick; it's a testament to skateboarding's creativity and evolution, reflecting the sport's growth and skaters' continuous pursuit of new challenges.
