    The life of Jesus showed that He had a clear and unwavering mission: to reveal the love of God, to teach truth, and to bring salvation. He never wavered, even when faced with opposition, suffering, and death. One of the lessons His life teaches is that true purpose comes from: • Knowing who you are (a beloved child of God) • Understanding why you're here (to love and serve others) • Staying committed to what truly matters.

    Psalm 19 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the expanse sheweth the work of his hands. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech and there are no words, yet their voice is heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their language to the extremity of the world. In them hath he set a tent for the sun, 5 And he is as a bridegroom going forth from his chamber; he rejoiceth as a strong man to run the race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heavens, and his circuit unto the ends of it; and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

    What denomination is this swindenberg?

    • @spiritualshorts43
      @spiritualshorts43 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for your question @jenrich111. Emanuel Swedenborg was a prominent 18th-century Swedish engineer, scientist, and nobleman, raised as the son of a Lutheran bishop. Well-versed in the Bible in both Hebrew and Greek, he began having a series of profound dreams in his 50s, which he believed revealed deeper spiritual truths within the Bible. Over the next three decades, until his death at age 84, he published nearly 30 works on theology and spirituality. While Swedenborg himself did not establish a religious denomination, his writings inspired the formation of small reading groups about 15 years after his death, primarily in England. These groups eventually developed into several Swedenborgian or New Church organisations that continue to exist worldwide today. We began our little channel here to continue to provide spiritual nourishment to our small congregation at the start of the pandemic.The channel has since morphed into something a bit bigger. We should give some thought to a "Who Was Emanuel Swedenborg" episode. Thanks again for your question. God Bless!

    Eternal ruin is fear based religious rhetoric. Otherwise, everything else was spot on wisdom. Becoming a good person based on the threat of eternal damnation is ridiculous and has never worked because it's just programming. The ego has no capacity for compassion, which comes solely from the heart. Living more from your heart allows compassion to become a big part of your nature. You want to be kind and understanding not because you're supposed to but because it's who you are.

    • @spiritualshorts43
      @spiritualshorts43 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@carbon18 Thanks for your comment. You may find some agreement with Swedenborg’s description of heaven, hell and what determines where a person ends up. In short, it is all about love. He explains that hell is a place where evil spirits are permitted to live according to their desires and inclinations developed in their earthly lives. It is not a place designed for eternal punishment or ruin, but rather a realm where spirits can continue to live out the evil loves they cultivated while on earth. In Swedenborg's view, each individual chooses their own spiritual path based on their loves and actions during their lifetime. Those who choose to live selfishly, harming others for their own gain, naturally align themselves with the spiritual sphere of hell. This alignment is not imposed by a punitive God but is a result of their own choices and loves. Therefore, hell is considered a place of mercy in that it allows spirits to dwell in an environment that corresponds to their true nature. The conditions in hell-though unpleasant by heavenly standards-are suited to the spirits' own desires and state of being. This is a reflection of Divine mercy, as spirits are not forced into a state contradictory to their essence, but are allowed to live in a way they have chosen, albeit with the consequences that accompany those choices. Swedenborg emphasizes that Divine Providence works with utmost care to provide each person with the freedom to choose their path, and the spiritual world reflects these choices in the environments of heaven and hell.

      @carbon18 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @spiritualshorts43 Ahh, in other words, one man's hell is another man's heaven. I suppose if heaven coincides with one's desires no matter which side of the dichotomy of good and evil it ends up being, it would render the perspective of eternal ruin to be of the opposite side of that dichotomy. I guess it's just all a matter of perspective.

    • @spiritualshorts43
      @spiritualshorts43 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ "One man's hell is another man's heaven." While a bit of an oversimplification, it can be helpful in understanding the situation from a starting point. I have always seen the hellish loving desire to pursue evil loves as analogous to addiction in this life, to this extent. I once read a description of addiction as "the eternally unsatisfying effort to repeat the first high." In other words, the desire is never satisfied. By contrast Heavenly loves are experienced very differently.

    • @carbon18
      @carbon18 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @spiritualshorts43 Exactly, dichotomous thinking is just that. Over simplifying "good" and "evil" like up and down, on and off, etc. Evil is an illusory moral concept that contributes to the stigmatization of mental illness. The concept of spending just one short lifetime and then ending up in an eternal afterlife based on how much or little you evolved during that miniscule time frame is specifically designed to perpetuate the need for religion. As spiritual beings, we willingly forget who and what we are in order to have an authentic human experience only to go back to that same normal state of existence from which we came once the body expires. Our existence does not begin at birth, and when we leave behind the body, its primal effect on us stays behind with it. In our normal state of existence, we are love and nothing less.

      @@carbon18 Thanks for your comments. I'm certain that there are areas where we will disagree on how we understand the functioning of the spiritual realm, but on the matter of each of us being spiritual beings having a natural experience, I suspect we are very much in agreement.

    When Jesus was "tempted" in the wilderness during His 40 day fast, who was it that tempted HIm? It wasn't God! It was Satan! The cycle of the Bible and the nation of Israel seems to be God gives people free will, if the people follow His precepts, then they will be blessed and prosper, but in time as they turn away from God, forget God, and fall into sin, the natural consequence of this is the suffering of the people (an outside nation comes in and conquers them and they are brought into slavery). The suffering bring people back to God with prayer and repentance. God forgives them and their nation is restored. And yet the cycle repeats again in time. He who sins is a slave t sin. But he whom the Son sets free, is free indeed!

    "Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors" can be thought of as us allowing others to have personal standards that are perhaps not as high as ours (annoyance that in some way the toothpaste isn't handled the way we do, perhaps), just as God forgives us not measuring up to his standards.

      I think it does relate to faith along, a doctrine for which, I believe, the 'plank in one's own eye is easily missed for the speck in another's' is baked in. That said, it is certainly a universal message/trap that any of us can more easily accept forgiveness than offer it.

    Animals don't have the capacity to think about their thoughts like we do. Therefore they don't have a moral dimension. That means they don't have free will like we do. They act through instinct. Rationality and free will is what makes us human. We are worse than the animals if we reject God's invitation to become spiritual. We are higher than the animals if we choose to accept it.
