1G DSM AWD Transmission Replacement (90-94 Eclipse, Laser, Talon)

Quick video showing how to pull and replace a transmission in a first gen DSM. If you have suggestions to add to this, I would love to hear them and I hope you have a great day! How did you test the voltage?
@@moiseseastland8643 I was able to see on my scan tool that it was low as well as verifying with the multimeter on the battery while running. Also the car was throwing codes for under voltage.
thank you! pro demand was worthless for this
@@bluefin666 I use Prodemand as well and that's exactly why I made the video. Usually I don't do a lot of video making but I figure there would be a few other people also frustrated with the lack of info 😂
Do you happen to have any information on the starter location on this car and what I need to do to replace it.
@@nwksjae93 I have not done a starter on one of these yet unfortunately. Best of luck!
Excellent video..
I did it by not disconnecting the coolant hose, just removed the throtle body
Glad to hear it!
What year is this x5
If I remember correctly it was a 2015
Great video👍 followed step by step. Can’t work out how to remove the top alternator bolt without moving Egr. Any advice? Thanks
From what I remember once you take the tensioner off that bolt should be fairly accessible
On mine the top bolt on the alternator only comes out so much and then it hits the Egr cooler and can’t come out any further until the Egr cooler is removed. From the video the Egr cooler on that car looks slightly different to the one on mine. Stupid design
@@haseebasif9018 those are the most frustrating kinds of things. Sorry to hear about that and good luck with it!
Alguém de vcs podem me ajudar, preciso da posição de sincronismo da correia auxiliar
Thanks for informative video! I have BMW TIS and it instructs to take whole intake plenum off for this job. Its good to know it is doable if you only pull off the throttle body. And, yes belt tensioner is necessary to come out.
Nice video! Thanks for doing this. I have a question. Cant we do this job with out taking off belt tensioner?
I found it necessary to take it off to get to the alternator bolt. But if you're able to work around it I'd love to hear your results, could be helpful for others!
@@zacharymears7609will check it and.let you know here.
Man I now realize I need a shop with a lift now. I've pulled trans out of 1g awd a few times but working on the ground i just find it easier to pull the engine as well as the subframe really gets in the dang way.
A lift makes all the difference on that one! A FWD is sure easier in a few ways
The easiest way to remove & install th-cam.com/video/OTu3shVQjQE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CcaXNSDLgTWkUXJF
Parts for these 5-speeds are getting harder and harder to find. What was wrong with the old one? Besides a cracked case now… lol.
Some bad synchros, but aside from that apparently not much 😂 I was trying to diagnose a noise which ended up being my motor mount bracket coming loose (on the driver side holding the tensioner on) after installing poly mounts! I had an extra transmission laying around so it was an easy enough diagnostic to rule the whole trans out and make a video for it.
Nice to see the pivot ball shim in the video at 18:41, lots of forums talk about it but not a lot of videos show it
