Shediac Trail Ride - APASOA Edition
November 2024 has been a wet month to say the least. While we had over 50mm of rain on Saturday, Sunday morning I still needed to get out and let my mind feel at ease… well, we got wet HAHA

HBX 16889a Pro 1/16 Scale 4x4 Playing in the snow
So how did this thing hold up? were you running 3s or still a 2s battery?
I can’t seem to keep pinion gears. The motor keeps slightly moving , then it grinds the pinion gear smooth haha. I’ve change the motor mount, but the heat melts it too. I haven’t touched it again in a while unfortunately lol. And that was all on 2s lol
@ Well damn lol, I’ve been trying to find people that have tried with 3s for longer periods of time just to see the wear that it puts on the car. I know it’s cheap so i don’t expect much, but i guess that answers the question! Thank you!
Where did you get yours from? Do you have a link? Cheers from Alberta!
@@Michalisxc70 got it from Banggood. Used a coupon code that made much more affordable.
Great video brother! Great song too! 🙌😎
@@BangForYourBuckRc Thanks. It was fun being be able to crawl with my son. He did pretty good :-)
Excellent video, like the relaxed approach, great fitting music too. Subbed :)
@@basheuff5668 thanks man, I find it was well worth it. Haven’t been able to use it much lately tho 😭
Looks very close to the Traxxas , performs well. I’m sure these guys will get sued into the Stone Age. How much was this in Canadian dollars ? I’m in Alberta
I got with some coupons and such. Was around $320 to my home
@@derekarsenault3652 wow that’s cheap, 👍
@@ryand4786 definitely worth the cost. Many upgrade the servo right away and many slap in a fusion SE. For what I do with it, it’s currently fine as is, since I don’t crawl very often.
I debated getting the v2 of it with locking diffs and metal gearing and such, but I’ve tapped out my RC budget for this year hahaha
Great camera work!! I just ordered one of these for my daughter couldn't pass it up for price subbed up
Thanks, iPhone on a mini tripod does the job hehe. Yeah, the $$, especially for Canadians is well worth it
When you tackle the challenging offroad trails, don't forget to use your blinkers, who TF thought blinkers were a need in off-roading. Great video, enjoyed the whole thing.
O. Haha yeah blinkers required for sure lol. Thanks 🤙🏼👌🏼
I wish someone would PDF the instruction manual. Didn't get any. Thanks for the video.
Do you got a link for them?
I ended up going with HYPER GO 16510R front and rear.
Hey man. Nice video. Got mine recently and killed the servo the first day and had to get a replacement. How did you make the End Point Adjustment?
Sorry to hear man. I haven’t had issues with it yet. I do have a spare servo on standby, but so far, so good, don’t need to use it.
Almost same price as traxxas light kit 😄
Exactly lol. Works pretty darn good for the $$$
How can we find out what protocol the tx and rx are ?
Unfortunately I can’t answer that question, however I can tell you that it has a Hobbywing 1060 ESC 🤷♂️
@@derekarsenault3652 yes it's a great rig but I have pulled out the tx and Rx to use my own, I am struggling to find a light module to use
@@p4ulfat1many seem to go with a Fusion SE 1800 for this. I have yet to feel the need to change it. I do a have a spare steering servo, but haven’t installed it as of yet. The steering was where I felt it struggled the most in factory form.
Great idea, I was wondering if you would need to add additional spacers or other type of parts when you put the 16889a tires on the 18859?
Nope, direct swap 😊
Thanks, I will do the same upgrade😘😘😘@@derekarsenault3652
Is it full stock? Doesn't have diff lock does it?
Fully stock and both front and back is locked at all times. Has low and high gear as well.
promo sm
Next time , volume down the music a little bit. 🎉
Thanks for the feedback. New to this :-)
Have you opened up the transmission and portals? Are the gears metal and a good material not pot metal? Cheers
Haven’t done anything on it. I think I saw on another video that it was NOT metal. The new version (R1011), that looks like a Wrangler, is advertised as all metal. It also has locking diffs front and rear I beleive.
@derekarsenault3652 thank you 👌
It's more funny in the snow that in the mud.
100%
Nice little course. Rig is pretty capable
For the price point, it's pretty decent for sure!
Very nice RC❤
Sure is!
Awesome brother! Love these HB Toys playing in the snow. 👍🏻 Also an important and nutritious addition to your day - HB-n-fluff-😂
I take the the time where I can to play around a bit LOL
Awesome rig from HB toys brother! That was an awesome excursion! Yours, like mine , does awesome! It had to work hard in a few spots , but made this an extremely fun and relaxing watch! Well done dude!👊🏼😎👍🏻💯
Thanks, I enjoyed filing as well as trying to make a reasonable edit. 🇨🇦👌🏼💪🏼✅
Nice run Brother! The Granite just loves the snow! Those snow banks were just a bit more than it could chew though. Fun run my friend!
Thanks. I debated trying to launch it off one of the hills, but the back sides were simply full of huge ice chunks that probably would have destroyed something LOL
@@derekarsenault3652 Smart thinking. I was out running my rival MT-10 yesterday and it was in the low 20*F temps. In less than 10 minutes I snapped the front lower control arm. This is one of the most durable trucks out there , but the cold was too much for the plastic. Not worth breaking in my opinion for a few jumps in the snow! Just my personal opinion. I’d wait for warmer temps!😂👍🏻
@@BangForYourBuckRc exactly. It was around 14f here when I shot this video. My phone battery went from 80% to 1% pretty quick LOL
🔥🔥🔥
Yeahhhh! This thing does great in the snow! I love those rooster tails!👊🏼😂👍🏻
Thanks man. Yeah. She rips pretty good. Thinking of getting paddle tires hehehe
Cool looking truck 🫶🏼
Thanks !!
Glamorous yet burley, with hint of power and grace. Awesome snow ballet!
Thanks, I had forgotten I had clipped this last week LOL
I start first next to the house & work out. That way all my snow blowing out goes out over snow that has not been cleared. The other is his chute is pointed to high. I keep it lower to prevent that snow getting caught by the wind & blowing around.
My next snowblower will be the one you bought. If you’re going to have a Honda? You might as well have the best! I bought Honda’s best inverter generator EU 7000 is. That is a phenomenal generator. I’m a defacto salesman for that generator to customers looking to buy a portable. I also happen to be a lineman for a local power company. Whenever I run into customers interested in a generator I steer them to the EU 7000is. In fact I already sold one already.
This did pretty good, even the the back end of it is heavy, did you add wheel weights to the front
No weights during this video. I’ve since faded small magnets on my each wheel and two drill bit pieces on the front LOL
I’m now a subscriber dude! Great job! 👍🏻👊🏼
Thanks, greatly appreciated!
Yowza! Amazing excursion my friend! I watched all 2.5 km of it!😁 You really put this through its paces. I love mine! Beautiful canopy up there! Awesome quality and amazing shots! Happy new year broseffe! ! 🎉👊🏼💯😁🍻
Thanks man, appreciate it! I’m really liking it as well. Hope to buy another product from them in the future.
Great action video in the deep woods. This Bronco can climb!
Yes it does! Liking it so far! Thanks for watching!
These things are a blast in snowy vehicle tracks. I got a little 1/18 scx I mess with. Geez I haven't played skip-bo in years...lol. Actually mine is 1/24.
Nice! I also have a heavily modded SCX24 🏆👏🤘🏻🇨🇦
Nice relaxing cruise.
It’s all about the Zen
Love this rig! I have the Red one too. Yours did well in the snow! I haven’t had mine in the snow yet. Just out on and off the trail! Looking good my friend! Happy New Year!🍻🤩🎉!
Awesomeness. Yeah, with proper throttle control, even my son did pretty good in the soft stuff.
I just ordered mine with some upgrades. Now I just have to wait a few weeks for it all to arrive.
That’s awesome. What upgrades are you starting with?
@derekarsenault3652 some brass weights for the front suspension, full set of skid plates, and some more lighting.
@@nathaniel_117 sweet man! Should help crawling on the rough stuff!
Nice trail run. That Bronco looks sweet!
Thanks, seems to work good for what it is ✌️
Thx, great video! Could you please put the links to the upgrade parts in the description box?
Thanks shall do
Apparently there’s a verification process to make links clickable (I’m new to TH-cam). Check back in a few days… or simply lookup the parts listed. Motor and ESC were from Amazon Canada and the Tires from eBay
Thx, I found the parts! Which oil filled shocks are you planning to install?
@@wOOx92 HBX has some direct fit, but I ordered some HYPER GO 16510R shocks. Should arrive in the next few days
Great camera work D. Quite effective at making the scale size look good.
Thanks, I’m learning. All done on iPhone
very nice shots of the bronco,
Thanks, appropriated!
Why are the blades so round? The 1332 and others have serration
The unit was used commercially prior to me getting it. They got worn down and then they welded new bits on it.
That looks awesome thank you what scale is that 1/24 scale?
Yeah. 1/24 vs 1/10
Great video. I really enjoyed that 😃✨👍
Thank you 🇨🇦🙌

Rc hbx is the best. I'm from Indonesia like is Rc monster truck
hi derek, What are those tires? I search some new tires for the same car too... i feel the stock ones dont generate much grip at all..
The tires I put on the 16889a Pro are the ones from the HBX 903a. The tires on the 18858 are the ones I took off the 16889
What’s the hex size, looking for alternative 1/18 tires for another brand rc I own.
@@fonicgaming6787 these are 12mm hex.
Do you recommend any accessories? Can an old man 65 handle this?
My daughter (now 10, but for past two years) can use it. There’s no man handling this unit. It’s weight will just push through
I always wondered are those stearing levers proportional? like pulling the lever just a little means a big turning radius?
They are proportional. You can slightly change the direction and it is also proportional to the speed you’re moving. If full speed, it won’t do a stopped 180 turn, but if your half speed or less, it will swing it 180 by just holding your ne hand on there
