Replacing A Clutch And Flywheel On A 2006 Subaru Impreza (Dual Mass Conversion)
In this video some friends and I started tackling the annoying sound my flywheel makes. It has been making this sound for quite some time and figured it must be the dual mass flywheel.
So I decided to replace it with a single mass flywheel which is more durable and cheaper.
The clutch I use in this video is an Exedy clutch with an OEM single mass flywheel.
The car is a Subaru Impreza 2.0R EJ204 with a 5MT.
The purpose of this video is purely for fun. Working on cars with friends on a weekend day is probably on of the best things.

How To Reboot A CV Axle - Subaru Impreza 2006 (works on most cars)
DIY - how to replace the CV axle boot's of my 2006 Subaru Impreza, although this method will work on most cars. The basic principles are the same. A quick tip, make sure you double check and order the right parts for the job. I ordered an OEM outer cv boot that should fit this years make and model but the diameter was incorrect so had to resort to a different brand boot. - Music from Uppbeat (f...

Replacing Lower Control Arm - Suzuki Swift 2002 #2
How to replace the lower control arm on a Suzuki Swift (1996 - 2003). Save money and it's fun and easy to do it yourself. You only need some common hand tools and jack and jack stands to lift your car up. I never did anything like this before so this is me learning how to fix my car. I intend to post everything I learn about fixing/maintaining cars to see myself become a better DIY mechanic and...
AKRAPOVIC Exhaust on Aprilia Shiver 750
A nice before and after of the new Akrapovic exhaust mufflers on my friends' bike.
Please, next time try tight the torx bolts a little before to try to loose them.
Could you please share the spicification of original dual mass flywheel and the new one? Wcht model of impresa engine? STI? Thanks a lot!!
Hi, The new single mass flywheel is an OEM 225mm replacement (partnumber 12342AA061). I don't really have any specifications on the old dual mass flywheel but the model of subaru might help. It's an Impreza 2.0R EJ204 with a 5 speed manual (high-low)
@@MBodegom Thanks a lot man!!! I have a Outback 2006 body BP9 5speed MT, engine EJ254 non-turbo, Europe market, Orignally this Outback comes with dual mass 12345AA000, too much expensive (more than 2000 dollars!! in UK...) but according to catalog it can be replaced by single mass 12342AA040/060/61..same as you intalled, with standard Exedy 517 clutch cover. i think it is possible to replace without any problem...I hope...hahaha...Thanks again for teh video it was very helpful.
@@MBodegom Thanks a lot!! SUper helful information!! best Regards!
Where do you get that
Do you have part numbers for Single mass flywheel Clutch Pressure plate Throwout bearing Cheers
Hi Sorry for the (very) late response: It's an Exedy clutch kit with an OEM Singlemass flywheel: Partnumbers are: - clutch plate 225 mm 30100AA851 - pressure plate 30210AA590 - clutch release bearing (releaser) 30502AA051 - Single mass flywheel 12342AA061
Hi what adapter is that?
Is redline cv joint grease good or is it necessary to get the grease from subaru? Also is it necessary to get clamps from subaru or the amazon hose/axle clamps are fine?
I’d say the most important thing to get from subaru are the boots, they are just of a better quality and fit. for the grease it’s nice to have them in a pre filled packet with the right quantity. But I suppose redline cv grease does the trick as well, be sure to clean all the grey/greenish grease out ;). For hose clamps you could do whatever works for you. As long as they’re tight!
@@MBodegom so i have to clean out the grease that was already in there before using the redline grease? I m still a beginner, so dont mind me asking, how do i clean up everybit of grease from the joint as i dont have an air tool?
@@xvdmrecords Use a lot of brake parts cleaner and degreaser, that'll probably do the trick!
@@MBodegom i have another question about that little snap ring that locks the inner joint. When i went to remove it, felt like it was damaged. Can i use an aftermarket harbor freight brand snap ring of the same size or does that have to be from subaru as well?
That ball joint is not penetrate fully through the hole of the steering knuckle,
It sure looks like that but it's the boot of the ball joint that's not all the way up. You can't get the bolt through if it's not seated properly so that should give a guideline to whether it's penetrated all the way through
Does the outer joint come apart the same way as the inner joint? You completely skipped that part
Instead of taking apart the outer joint (which requires a bit more work than the inner joint) I slid the outer boot across the axle from where the inner joint is removed and cleaned up most of the grease there
Real quick, super clean
How can I make this?
You can do this with arduino, but this was actually a school project that I didn’t really take any further ;)

Hi Matthijs!

Hi Matthijs, Thanks for the video. Question, those are 10cm speakers right? Also, are there places in the back of the car for speakers or only in the front? Thanks in advance!
Yes 10cm and the standard is only two in the front but you could add speakers in the trunk cover if you like
