This is Awsome, do you think you’re boards could be beefed up to run dmd era games?
Hello, thank you. Basicly yes, it dpends on the Controller which is used. Currently i use an Arduino Mega which is on its limit and a Dot Matrix will not work - becuase the Mega is to slow. But i'm already palnning to move my code to an Ardunia Giga. Regards, Fabian
I love this! Thank you for sharing
Thank you!
the contact is not smooth....
hello! sorry i do not catch your commend 😞, regards fabian
You know that I follow this project. Already all sensors and lamps done. Thanks for your help and share!
Hello Valentine, great to hear from you!!! In case you need support or you miss parts, just write me an mail. Also i'm intrested in your progress, so maybe send me pictures of it from time to time. Regards, Fabian
Your work is really cool, I'm always watching your videos, I wanted to know how you're going to add the art to the table, and you're going to have to disassemble everything to apply it. If it's adhesive, it's looking really good, congratulations.
Thank you, yes i will make a Vinly Overlay later on. i have remove everything again, then i have to paint the playfield in white, after that the overlay is glued to it, then i have to reasamble everything.
awesome project . I also have an idea to combine 3D print and wood/acryl to make s pinball gsme. I also have PLC, so my plan is to make the game fun with many elements , rgb sensor, kicking solenoids, many floors, elevators , shooters , collecting balls, and more .
Thx!
is it possible to scale this up for a full sized pinball?
Hello, basicly yes but its not woth the work, in that case i would buy a used broken Pinball and do a restoration. I scaled it down because of the less sapce needed --- i want to put the pinball on an table to play (for the Kids) and put it beside when it starts to be "boring" (just for the kids not for me 🙂).
Good tool tinkercad
Yes its is and its free and very easy to use!!!
Great work. The robot voice is a little disconcerting.
Thx! yes it is, but its free of charge --->t my voice much more worse 😞

I had no idea *each* bumper was this complicated! I'd assumed there was some central MPU handling the triggering of the solenoid or something. I can see the advantage of each bumper handling everything autonomously, however. I love electromechanical stuff!
another curiosity, are you going to make this machine complete with backglass and the four scoreboards, and if so do you have the measurements, I had started one here, the playfield was 0.50 centimeters by 1.10 one meter and ten I don't know if this is correct these measurements, but for me to be able to build a table using your STL files, it would have to be the measurements you are using on this machine, in this case I will make the same machine but with a different theme, a Taito 1983.
Hello Edu, no i will not make a "box with Backglas". i will do a led Matrix 8*64 similar to the one i did for my space shutller replica -> th-cam.com/video/Sgq4DvL_ENM/w-d-xo.html The Playfiled of the Fathom and as well Space shuttle is 100x50cm in size.
Thank you for this detailled tutorial!
THX!
Good evening, I would like to know if you will make the STL files available for 3D printing of this machine, because I would like to make a Taito machine that is a copy of this one (TAITO HAWKAN 1983) a copy of the one (BALLY FATHOM 1980) I've played this machine a lot here and now if I have access to this piece it would be much easier, I'm not going to start for now just for 2025, anything we agree and you make a package with all the files would be really cool, for now I'll enjoy the videos, congratulations.
The stl files are in the description of this video. They are available on cults3d
Hello, yes they are available here: cults3d.com/en/users/wilfriedfabian/3d-models but also there are the GREBER Files which enables you tom make the electronics needed to opertae theassemblies. After i finished my Fathom, i wilkl add from time to time some more assemblies.
This is very interesting Fabrication to me. I own an old pinball machine that I play with. I have been thinking of making a pinball machine for a few years now and will likely start once I fully retire here in Canada. I think I will try and replicate an existing old pinball machine perhaps the same one you are doing as it has all the various assemblies. I also do 3d printing and machining with access to cnc machines. I'm still researching how I will go about this project. One thing I have found is a guy who 3d printed bumpers that had conductive print material, he printed the body and apron the ball runs over to make the trigger happen because the ball is conductive. I'm wondering about the electronic boards and entire system as to what you are using?
Hello, i designed the electronics as well myself. I use an ardunio Mega as controller. With the STLs i provide as well for some the needed PCB Greber Files. Just look up whats avaibale -> cults3d.com/en/users/wilfriedfabian/3d-models With the time i will ad some new assemblies. I have also seen some bumpers designs as the one you describe. However the Bumer design i made works quite well, i was thinking before i started my fathom relplica project to change it to an insductive triggered one, but had no time. To inspire you for your retirement, see my fathom Videos - here ist part 3 th-cam.com/video/YAW4IB6R530/w-d-xo.html
Excellent work, I'm following. Thank you.
Thank you!
I love seeing more 3d printing in homebrew. Makes it more reachable. Great work! I wonder how it holds up to the steel hits. I feel like a quality resin print might do better, or look more polished? If doing abs/asa, try acetone smoothing and clear coating. Resin prints look great with clear coat and they can be clear allowing for lighting effects too. Even if 3d mech isn’t forever, you can just reprint a replacement cheap enough. After cleaning rust off old Bally Williams mechs for days and weeks, I doubt the time to reprint future 3d mech will be any worse !!!!
Thx! i printing everythin in PLA with 80% Infill. Untill now no Part was broken or cracked by the Steelball on my space shuttle replica -> th-cam.com/video/Sgq4DvL_ENM/w-d-xo.html At my "jurney" making pinball machines i'm still in designeng new Parts/Assemblies (e.g. an inline drop target with auto frop), i already was thinking to do some parts (like Bumper top Caps) with resin 3d Print, but had no time to do so. Regards, Fabian
if you are going to do 100:70? why not 1:1?
@@armastat hello, 1st i wanted to make a table top Pinball. A 1:1 Pinball takes to much space. 2nd the Solenoids which are available at a good price are to weak for 27mm Steelballs. Regards
Hi! Great job and very good videos. I think it’s the best tutorial for DIY pinball machines. And this is a very big problem for me - looks like I’ll try to repeat this project. And it will take all my free time for the next future 😅. If I’ll start to do this, can I disturb you time to time with stupid questions? Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledges and experience!

Very instructive. Thank you
Awesome video and great work! Do you also have the 3D files of the “through” where the balls fall between the flippers. And added to this, the design for the balls to return back to the plunger. I already downloaded the plunger but can’t find these files for the through. Thanks you
Hi, thanks! Please get in touch with me by mail, you can find it on my channel Info page www.youtube.com/@fabe1690/videos
I will SO use your videos as a guide... Thanks a lot Wilfried!

You use two solenoids in the flippers or hitters, I don't know how you say it to get more power.
Hi, one solenoid of this size is too weak for a flipper, so i have to use two of them. I could use a bigger one, but this will cause some desgn flaws. The flippers as i designed it are working really good. Regards, Fabian
Your work is very good, I really like pinball machines, since I was 12 years old here in Brazil machines have been made copies of the American ones with other themes plus the same plafield, my dream is to build one too, nowadays it is much easier It's easier with 3D printers, and Arduino, but it's still not easy Congratulations once again
Hello, thank you! my impression is that genarraly in south America Pinball Machines are very popular. The most conacts i have are from there! Greetings, Fabian
Can your in line droptargets "auto drop" ?
Hello, yes they have! it took me a lot of time to find a design which works and is small enough to save space. Regards, Fabian
Excellent work again! Maybe you could cut videos shorter. 40+ minutes is a lot for stuff like this.
Hello, thank you. You are right, editing and cutting almost takes longer than the work on the machine itself 😞. However i want to make videos which shows all the work and not cutting out a lot. I try in my next video to extend the time laps at least of repeating worksteps. Regads, Fabian

Hi Thanks! I do provide some STLs Designs for 3d printig, as well Greber Files to make the needed PCB. You can find them ob cults3d.com/en/users/wilfriedfabian/3d-models.
@@fabe1690 yeah I saw that. Discussing with my dad who is gonna buy them 😂. Do you also have some sort of guide to have the points system? And if possible also your cnc
@@yornola Hi, the CNC is a self build "MPCNC" = mostly printed CNC" -> heres the Web Page docs.v1e.com/mpcnc/intro/ However i found out that this is not worth the work. if i ever will do another Pinball Machine i will do it again by manual milling. The stensils/templatea for that are also included with the Files on cults3d. I'm not sure what you mean with points system - if you mean the controller controlling all asseblys, diplay etc.: i use a Ardunio Mega (with some STLs on Cults3d i include also some example code), with no special "Pinball" Libarys - i did programm it from scratch.

Hi Fabe, I'm doing a replica of a 90's pinball myself. Still didn't start with the table, I'm currently working on a module that can be used to run any pinmame rom to control real hardware. Meaning, after doing that, I could build any table that is available in pinmame. Your videos are very helpful for me and I'm very impressed by your work.
Hello, how are you, will you make the module project available, here in Brazil there are not many people who do this type of projects, I want to build some pinball machines from the 80s and all help will be welcome, thank you.
@Edu5900 Hello there! Currently, it's just a work in progress. Even the circuit boards are 3d printed breadboards with the components. I'm trying to make everything work before buying some real PCBs. The proyect in its current state is all 3d printed and very bullky, like an external box with lots of connectors. One connector for each element. This, in my case, is to be able to disconnect one table and connect another one. A single controller for any table, useful for small spaces or prototyping of a table replica. The downside is all the work involved with wiring the module to a table and the need of a computer connected via USB to the module. This is planned to be upgraded to use a Raspberry Pi as a computer instead of having an actual computer with a wire to the pinball table. Progress is slow, but it's going fine so far. Thank you for your interest, Edu. I'll gladly help you out in your proyect if I can somehow. Are you trying to build just one pinball table or are you planning on building more in the future?
@@mikelarrutiromero9430 Thank you, at the moment just one to start but I would like to build others here in Brazil, there was a company called Taito that manufactured several tables that were versions of American machines, I would like to be able to work mixed, my interest is to build this table for my own use, Thank you For your attention, I'll send you a shout out for any news, thanks.
@Edu5900 you are welcome! My module might be helpful for your case. It just makes communication between a PC and real hardware. I'm using pinmame as it's what I need for my project, but you could basically use or create any other program to run custom roms, if you know how the module works, anything is possible. My goal is that the module supports 128 inputs and 256 outputs. Enough to recreate any table or go wild and overengineer something new.
@@mikelarrutiromero9430 Hello, how are you, I wanted to know if I can use (Placa Zero Delas Usb Árcade Joystick P/Raspberry Pi3 P) to activate solenoids through the PC and which program I can do this using the ROM of the pinball machine, in fact I wanted to install the ROM on the Arduino Mega and then distribute it to the other parts of the table, I haven't started anything yet, I just want to know what would be the best way to create the Pinball Machine, OK, Thanks

Cool to see a custom pcb for pwm and overheat control! Why did you opt for two non pinball brand solenoids to fire each flipper? Was that to generate enough force from 12v coils? Why not go 24v coils or 48v pinball coils? Im currently trying to make these decisions myself for my own build using arduino.
Hi, i used this Solenoids because they are quite affordeable, and smaller than original Pinball Solenoids. I use 12V Solenoids with 30V to get enough power out of them (must portected from getting too hot!!!), using a 24V Solneoid on 30V will cause lower Powerm because 24V Coils have a higher resistance than 12V Coils, Regards, Fabian
@@fabe1690 Looks greatm but why use two solenoids and not one? Is there not enough fling from just one solenoid? Great work by the way!! ;O)

I have so many good ideas for pinball machines but not the technical know how. So I tell you an idea: a pinball machine which themed the city of neapel and on the top is the vesuv with nice glowing lava effects. There are lava streams and one is a ball slide. You can also hit doors of buildings and also one door is a entrance where your ball can get in. this theme has Many possibilities for FX, hidden gems and much to discover.
Wish your kid wasn't terrible at pinball so we could also see the ramp shots instead of constant quick backhands into the pops, ffs
