Producing Chess Audio-books with all positions and commentary reproduced for your convenience. Since many of these books are classics, and before the chess computer era some annotations may be incorrect. These analysts did not have the luxury of computers to check their work. This is our job today. However;the great benefit of these books is not lessened at all by a few human mistakes. Many of these ideas expressed in the old manuals are relevant today. My vision is that everyone`s chess knowledge will benefit as a result of this, and that the great works and players of the past will be preserved in this format.

Hey, this is the most underrated chess channel of youtube! Lots of love from Brazil! Keep doing videos!
Please don't stop with the videos!
Hi In terms of your questions and observations from around the 21 minute mark, I think that they are very important ones! I was recently watching a video where two popular streamers were playing each other. It was a Nimzo, Rubinstein variation as in your video, but the game continued 4. ..0-0 5.Nf3 c5. The player with the white pieces then said, “What am I supposed to do here?” Which makes me think that opening moves/defences are being played without understanding why. Only once out of their prep do they then start ‘thinking for themselves’ and I think that this is one reason why mistakes are being seen more often. When they play a lower-ranked player who deviates early from a theoretical line, some seem to be disconcerted. You mentioned about players being in a bubble. I think for Magnus Carlsen in particular, it’s one reason we’ve seen him playing moves such as 1.h4 or 1.a4 in some of his games! In the Fischer Random Chess tournament earlier this year, he seemed to relish the challenge of having to think about what he was doing right from move 1. Sadly, the way things are going with technology, I can only see the dependence on chess engines increasing. Players looking to improve are looking at the percentage accuracy, how many of their moves were awarded a * or !!. Ironically, I think players who stand to benefit are older players, who are often using technology to speed up what they were doing in the past. The technology is working for them, rather than the other way round.
Chess is arguably one of the worst areas for making this ‘inequality’ debate, in my opinion. There is no Men’s chess or Women’s chess as is needed in performance sports because men have a physical advantage. There is chess and it is your rating that determines what level you can play at. It is open to all! If a female player has a high enough ranking, she can compete in the Candidates Tournament and if she wins it, will find herself playing the current World Champion! Personally, I think all these ‘equality’ initiatives are holding the female players back! If you’re constantly being told that when things aren’t going your way, it’s because of male prejudice, what do you blame when you’re in a game and you’re losing? What do you blame if your ranking isn’t going up as fast as you would like? You never ever learn to take responsibility. So ultimately, the question is, why don’t the female players compete in the open tournaments, which end up being male by default? Isn’t that true equality?
It is really a non issue, but they make it an issue because these organizations make money from these dubious titles like WIM,WGM etc and it allows people that would not make any money at all in tournaments to make money, have titles etc. This is all under the guise of "Womans rights:, equality. Its just a cash grab for those few women who make money at the end of of the day.
R Fischer forfaited game 2 and 3, after he lost game 1 by his bishop capturing on h2.
yes indeed!
I won't be able to watch the rest of the video after hearing how the name "Ivan" is pronounced here.
My daughter is 7yo, she’s bright, and about to start her second yr of elementary school chess club. “Chess” benefits from having female chess professionals, so that bright young girls (and their parents!) see chess as a viable option for them. Representation matters. That said, the average American physician earns more than all but (I’ll guess) the top 20 GMs, with a more welcoming, more socially interactive path along the way. So that’s the direction I’ll point her, if I can… 🤷🏻♂️
You're missing the premise. The implication that there is gender inequality in chess is a false premise. Is chess a male-dominated game? Yes, not because of patriarchy or women being banned from the game. It's just that more males are interested in the game. Reaching the level of mastery is neither a democratic nor gender-affirming process. He says these "women equality" events or "women titles" for GM feed into the false premise. If you desire representation, contact Congress or your state's legislature and call the single member representing your district. But if you're unhappy with your representation (like I am), let's call on Congress to expand the House of Representatives so that we have adequate representation. But let's leave chess alone.
Yeah the music is over the top. I think that and the emoji imply they think the difference between men and women in chess implies injustice and it's obvious to them and could not be any other way. The idea that men and women perform differently I think is unthinkable to most people, it's just not something they consider so they become true believers. A lot of people think that way.
Brilliant commentary
Welcome back!! Great to see you making content again!
The player might have needed to become more familiar with Philidor's defence. After 7, Qd7? Qxf7, he can already resign. According to Stockfish, the score is +6.8.
Hard to explain. This same guy drew two other 2400 players (!). Maybe he was demoralized after 4 ... Be7, after which he was dead lost. First time playing the Philidor?
Welcome back!!
Wow what a Q sac!
More Kramnik, please !!!
thanks for this one!
Ha. I drew a game in NYC with this exact position (except it was on the a-file). I remembered seeing it in Basic Chess Endings.
Thanks for sharing. Just one note: The "Pirc" is actually pronounced "Peerts".
Thank you 🙏
A great tournament. Carlsen did win, a half point ahead of Radjabov and Caruana. A lot of draws but it was still very exciting. An all-star cast. McShane won a thriller against Kramnik - that's the game that sticks in my mind. And a Magnus masterpiece against Radjabov.
I would hate you to miss: th-cam.com/video/XWC2KLduAsw/w-d-xo.html
Edgar Colle was born in Ghent, which is in Flanders, i.e. the Dutch speaking part of Belgium. His name should probably be pronounced "coll-uh" or "kaw-luh" according to Dutch pronunciation. I do know that's how the opening is pronounced here in Germany, with German having very similar pronunciation rules.
thank you for your insight.
Extremely clear and highly instructive! 💪👍Thank you!

Brilliant!
do you have a link of anykind showing your rating even if its only online
Solid analysis Ty!!
Very nice thx😊
Well what's the reason it's not played at the highest levels?
Thanks for the videos, they're great. Any chance you might do a series on the regular Colle, ie. if Black does NOT play one of the Anti-Colles?
thanks, i could do it but i know there are alot of vids already on the colle system proper but im sure i could break it down better
bro sounds like mike tyson
How did I not know this guy?!!? He talks about the moves that nobody talks about
Excellent annotation
The topic is great, but you can't hear yourself at all or you can hear yourself very weakly
Perfect explanation.
Well done
I tried that but the king was there on time to stop my pawn... But still this trick is extremely affective in case the king is far away.
great video, thank you very much for taking up my suggestion. since I study your videos I am playing colle as white. keep up the good work!
Do you have videos of the regular Colle, without the annoying moves?
Great video!
thank you
Why did you stop posting? You have one of the best chess channels around.
