Any more videos on kevs van
what sunroof did you use?
T3 is a fashion accessory, you only drive them if you think you are a hipster. Totally underpowered. T4 well are OK but the Vivaro is a good alternative which has more power. The T4 are noisy as hell
Did Kev get his engine upgrade sorted?
👍👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺🍺

Hi. My name is Jane and I really enjoyed your video. I own a 2001 T4 TD 800 Special panel van that I have owned from new (106200 miles on the clock) and I want to convert her to a campervan. Bodywork is good considering her age and your tips on where to check for rust have been helpful. You are obviously very knowledgeable about the T4's and I hope you may be able to point me in the right direction to solving an annoying problem. She is very smokey on cold start up, but runs fine (no smoke) when she's warmed up. I've been looking on T4 forums (I'm not a mechanic) and intend to get her serviced again shortly. I would be very grateful for any clues as to what you think may be causing the smokiness.
its quite normal for them to be a bit smokey on start up old diesel if it use no oil or water you are fine
repair your teeaths
after being a custom guy in the uk for 25 years all i got to say is good luck
Here is my pennies if it means anything. I have a 1997 T4 2.4D. I was nearly put off by the non turbo as people are generally after the 2.5 turbo. I have to say its a lovely van to drive. I say van as you must accept that it's a van and the older ones drove that way compared to the T5 and later. The 5 cylinder engine is really smooth and it feels like it could sit at cruising speed all day. Your best option when buying a T4, I can only speak of this van from experience, is to start out with an empty shell. You need to know the state of the body work. T4's rust. Thats the bottom line. With an empty shell you can do any welding you need. Wheel arches, sills, door steps are big areas to check. You have to do this at an empty, bare metal van stage because once you put all the panels, Insulation etc etc in place you have a tinder box for welding. Very easy to catch fire. Once you know where you are at then build your van. I do love mine but you will be spending ,only on it if you can't do it yourself. That probably my best advice. If you don't have the time, money, tools or inclination do keep on top of the T4 upkeep then it's not for you as you will regret buying it. Get a newer T5 or similar and you will be better for it but get a model with some van heritage behind it. That's it really. Your personal choice and experience will be the decider. All the best.
Thanks for your input & that's sound advice 👍
The 2.4d is a lovely engine to drive, slow but almost an automatic as tou can do a roundabout in 5 gear
Good video enjoyed watching that, my t4 has the 1.9ahu conversion done, engine from a seat ibiza, the previous owner had it done professionally, it goes quite well, not fast but will hold motorway speeds and hills are not a problem. ill look forward to more vidoes mate.
Don't need to be fast mate but nice to have the power 💪
Where did you get the rear disc conversion from running drums on the rear at the moment
he just bought a pair of second hand rear arms and calliper's from a later 2'5 with new disks
2.46 is my van FedUp. Great to see it on a video 👌🏼
