Since 1959, Maine State Music Theatre has brought first class Broadway-quality theatre to the picturesque town of Brunswick, Maine. The theatre, contracted with the Actors’ Equity Association’s Council of Resident Stock Theatres (CORST), produces four main stage musicals, several children’s musicals, and three concerts as part of its Monday Performance Series each summer at the Pickard Theater on the beautiful campus of Bowdoin College.

Before she was the hit-maker, Carole King, she was Carole Klein, a spunky young songwriter from Brooklyn with a unique voice. "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" takes audiences back to where it all began, chronicling her rise to stardom through the chart-topping hits she wrote for the biggest acts in music and her own life-changing success with the album "Tapestry." Featuring songs such as "You’ve Got a Friend," "One Fine Day," "Natural Woman," and "I Feel the Earth Move," this musical promises an unforgettable ride through Carole King’s extraordinary life and career.

Saw this show yesterday! Was amazing!!!!

Absolutely moving and fabulous! The most emotional theater experience I have ever had. The cast shed tears also opening night. Do not hesitate to see this show because the story is often violent and sad. This is handled in a very skilled way. And just as in the novel, the ending is uplifting and spiritual with a profound lesson for all of us today and always.
