Grading can add quite a bit of value to your cards for sure! But if you haven't graded cards before, just be mindful that getting cards graded as 10s or even 9s is very hard. When I graded some of my cards from childhood I tried to be extremely strict with my assessment of the cards and they still came back at least 1 grade worse than I thought.

Yeah idk man, me buying product that was mostly rejected during the start of the year doesn't really have an effect on shops not having surging sparks or 151 available now. Also if nobody keeps their products sealed than what happens to the people in the future who want to relive or experience older sets. Screw them i guess? I definitely wished more people kept product sealed 20-25 years ago so I could relive the sets of my childhood again for atleast a somewhat reasonable price. Not saying I'm a saint or anything but saying I'm "the worst person" is kinda dramatic. I guess it's easier living your life in a black and white world where anything that doesn't directly benefit your life right now is bad and vice versa.

I mostly agree with everything you mentioned here. It does take time and generally if you don't enjoy or find any of this interesting it's not worth that time. Setting up a sales presence on a marketplace takes some work and could be seen as opening a Ecommerce Business, but once you've done that you're pretty much on an equal footing with everyone else there. Personally for me it has been relatively painless on Cardmarket. On scalability, I think I can do this on a scale that is as large as I'm comfortable on putting money in. In my mind I think it could also be a good thing that it's pretty much impossible to scale these sort of investments much more. It prevents actual big money from dumping 8 to 9 figures in the market and making it much harder for anyone else. So I think I'm in a pretty good place where I enjoy doing this so the time commitment doesn't really bother me and I also feel that I can do this at scale where it is still worthwhile money wise as well. Also on the topic of using my time. I think youtube is definitely the one thing where my time used doesn't make sense very much. But it's good for a manchild to have hobbies. ;)

Cardmarket has 5% and 4,5% for professional sellers. The higher fees suck for sellers not in the EU though. Also we have a Finnish marketplace that has no fees for non-professional sellers. Probably can't sell much volume there though.

Obviously there's risks with these sort of investments. But buying at under msrp and relatively close to wholesale prices is vastly different from buying products that have already appreciated many hundred times the original price. With pokemon being such a huge worldwide phenomenon and the cards having such a huge collector base, I'm pretty confident that the prices of these products is more likely to go up than down. I also see the probability of these products crashing below wholesale price very low. So I'm not too worried.

There's a lot of information out there on youtube and sites that track the prices of products. Try to get as much information as possible from many sources and then do what you feel is best. That's what I did, consumed as much information as possible and then made my own strategy based on that info and my own thoughts. I have a couple of videos where I go through my own thought process in my investing playlist.

Nah man, I sell at market price. I buy a few booster boxes when they're readily available. Then when the market price is higher years later, I sell them. Are you telling me you want less competition and higher prices for older products?

When I graded these cards in March CGC's Bulk prices were 12€, which includes all cards that have a value of 250€ or less. The Economy tier that includes all cards valued up to 1000€ is 15€. They are now also adding VAT into those prices so the actual prices for those tiers would be 14,3€ and 17,9€. You also get 10% off of grading costs if you are a CGC member. The cheapest membership costs 25€. There are also shipping fees that you have to pay to and from the submission center. I paid about 30€ per packet sending my cards to CGC Munchen from Finland and they charged me 55€ for insured return shipping. So there are quite a bit of different costs that add up. Sending a lot of cards in the same submission helps getting the actual price per card price down. You can check www.cgccards.de/submit/services-fees/cgc-grading/ for more info. For PSA the cheapest grading price is $15 for cards valued $200 and less. The under $500 tier costs $19 but the biggest difference compared to CGC is the $500-$1000 tier that costs $75 (compared to CGC's $15 price). For the cheapest tiers you also need to be a part of their "Collectors Club" which costs $149 per year as well. Shipping costs also are higher when sending to California from Europe and I need to pay Finland's 24% VAT for the grading and return shipping costs as well. I've sent my cards to PSA when they have had a $14 special for Pokemon cards. I sent about 90 cards and in total and for me the grading cost all expenses included was ~20€ per card. Again sending more cards reduces the price per card because you reduce the fixed costs per card (CC membership, shipping).
