The Remission: Tackling Type 2 Diabetes with Lifestyle Medicine webinar delves into groundbreaking strategies for achieving Type 2 Diabetes remission and advancing health equity through evidence-based lifestyle medicine practices. Hosted by Dr. Mahima Gulati and Dr. Gebre Nida, this session highlights the transformative power of plant-based nutrition, shared medical appointments, and innovative care models in reversing the course of Type 2 Diabetes.
The Remission of Type 2 Diabetes and Reversal of Insulin Resistance with Lifestyle Medicine course, offered by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM), and led by founding ACLM president and ABLM certified LM Intensivist, reviews the epidemiology, risk factors, and current medical approach to preventing and treating all forms of diabetes. Expert faculty in the fields of diabetes and lifestyle medicine address the scientific literature that supports the treatment, remission, and prevention of type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance. Most importantly, the application of lifestyle medicine methods, guidelines, tools, and monitoring standards will be explained in order to enable healthcare practitioners to successfully apply lifestyle medicine techniques in their practices to treat, prevent, and achieve remission of type 2 diabetes and reversal of insulin resistance for their patients. lifestylemedicine.org/project/remission-of-type-2-diabetes/

The American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) is the medical professional society for physicians and other professionals dedicated to clinical and worksite practice of lifestyle medicine as the foundation of a transformed and sustainable healthcare system.
Lifestyle medicine is a medical specialty that uses therapeutic lifestyle interventions as a primary modality to treat chronic conditions including, but not limited to, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Lifestyle medicine certified clinicians are trained to apply evidence-based, whole-person, prescriptive lifestyle change to treat and, when used intensively, often reverse such conditions. Applying the six pillars of lifestyle medicine-a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connections-also provides effective prevention for these conditions.

Proud to be among the first Diplomats of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine (DipABLM) and sat for the exam in its second year. My interest: evidence-based health habit interventions, including but not limited to diet, exercise, stress, and foundational preventative medicine. I examined all my options, and this program was refreshing by emphasizing well-validated literature while at the same time maintaining a forward looking vision to enhancing healthy longevity equitably, and universally for better public health. I evaluated all my options for formal certification in lifestyle medicine practices at the time, and ACLM's certification process was by far the most rigorous and moreover founded in best practices. Suitable for all stages of practioners, this process provides a strong foundation for a wide variety of practice settings emphasizing empowering patient-centered behavioral and lifestyle change, and integrating these practices with emerging state-of-the art biomedical preventative health technologies. I can't recommend it enough. David Barzilai MD PhD.

Nurse here and we experience burn out too. I'm sure all working people actually are in the same boat. Our lifestyles have to change as a whole. This is the course I've been waiting for! Amazing video and thank you for bringing awareness to this issue.

This is so inspiring. I have a friend that has struggled with diabetes most of his life and has convinced himself that statins and the carnivore diet are best for him. Sadly, his cardiac physician and endocrinologist have allegedly given him a clean bill of health. He's only been on this regimen for a few months. I hope that medical doctors begin to advocate more in educating their patients about how their lifestyle is impacting them. It is evident that many patients are trading in one condition for the inevitable deleterious conditions that are likely to occur as the result of long-term poor dietary and lifestyle choices, regardless of statin use. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful story. So glad he discovered the benefits of a predominately whole-food plant-based diet and is advocating for lifestyle change. As an aside, I also have that same Ju-Jitsu dummy and I practice as well. 🙂

The power of WFPBD might be hard to believe unless you've experienced it - by yourself and witnessed patients to improve when they've been told just to accept the illnesses they have.
