The CS69 has more dynamic range and is more open. The SCN (I have this EXACT guitar) is more compressed and less expressive. I own this exact guitar so I can immediately hear what I'm used to. The CS69 is a breath of fresh air heard back to back. Still, for the benefits it offers, sometimes the SCN is very nice.

Great comparison, thanks for uploading! Can you confirm if the bridge pickup came pre-wired to the second tone knob on the CS69 prewired guard? I can’t find an answer online.

I have a 50th Anniversary 2004 Deluxe in Amber with Rosewood fretboard looks similar to yours. It has SCN’s with the S1 switch in the volume control. The neck pickup has died and finding replacements is not easy. Purchased CS69 pre wired which is in transit. Keen to hear them in the flesh. Great comparison and beautiful playing. Love the sound of both but leaning towards the CS69 in this comparison mainly P5 but they are very close. I might regret not getting noiseless replacements. I’ll keep an eye out for pre-loved SCN’s to keep this guitar in original condition.

The fender CS were better, but not by a whole bunch. They had that “extra”, dunno how else to put it. More bite and clarity maybe. For this close you can make the 69 CS quieter but not silent.

Honestly, I think you have a sort of dead sounding guitar. The 69's have almost no chime to them at all. I've played them both and the 69's should blow those noisless pickups out of the water. It isn't even a contenst. You should be able to hear a huge difference and like most people are saying, they sound alike.

I had a similar thought, but the guitar doesn’t sound dead with the other set. I think the pickup heights are just wonky. Pup height can easily be a make or break tone situation. Those CS69s sound dark af here for some reason

I used to dismiss all noiseless strat and tele pickups as inferior, but I think they sound very similar to the CS69 set. In fact, I'd say the SCN is just a hair better on overdrive tones than the cs69, but cs69 has a SLIGHTLY clearer, more bell-like clean tone for rhythm. These are VERY subtle differences, though, and the SCN set is noiseless!!! I just bought a loaded scn pickguard for my thinline strat relic build after seeing this.

Those SCNs are the only strat pickups i've enjoyed playing, and the Tele SCNs are among my favourite tele pickups as well. Bill Lawrence was a genius. I really hope the other Wilde pickups are as good as the SCNs, since they stopped producing those.

I used to own both sets and sold them all. CS69s sounds great, but are too noisy. SCNs are noiseless, but sound bland. I end up with Kinman Impersonator 54's, best of both worlds, they sound amazing and are quieter than most humbuckers I ever played with.

Hi Chris, nice review. What do you think is it make sense to put to the bridge Duncan rale humbucker pickup, and the noisless single for neck position? Do these two will fit the sound each other when you will switch the position while playing, or rale humbucker will be too noisy? Thanks.

I liked both but sincerely, I think that the 69s are better. I can see that you set them quite high, by the way. I think this is good as these pickups have very little output and yet high capacitance so being close to the strings is a good idea as long as you don't get Wolf notes.

Some sections where they were very close.. But listening through some nice Skullcandy headphones the Cobalts pulled many areas where they were clearly fuller and richer to my ears... More pleasing to me.

I have had a set of CS 69s in one of my Strats since 2009. I have always loved them. But there is one thing those pickups do that no other singlecoils I've had can come near. They have the most unique voicing in positions 2 and 4 with the tone rolled off. They get a more musical midrange woman tone like no other. I also do not have a tone control wired to the middle pickup. I promise I'm not plugging my own crap. I do have a video showcasing that. But also I have a video with all my strats with these pickups, CS69's, Klein jazzy cats, Vintage Noisless, Suhr V60lp, and mojotone 59 clones. They are all great. But damn the vintage noiseless in my EC strat have some serious beef with dirt. th-cam.com/video/zvU-nONqMF4/w-d-xo.html

Hey Michael! It's an original track pulling some influence from a John Mayer-ish kind of thing. It's pretty easy. The chords are: C min 7 / C min 7 / Ab Maj / Eb Maj / Bridge section goes to F min 7 / F min 7 / Eb sus2 / Bb / I can see about uploading the instrumental if you're interested.

I have a set of the noiseless, they are OK, but I will say this off the bat, They sound great when you run them through Modern gear or more expensive gear where you have EQ options and such, but a great example is running them through a Orange Micro Dark Terror which is a hybrid tube it is terrible and doesn't take the gain well, where as my Vox Micro Superbeetle they sound great. Pedals are the same certain Overdrives like the Nux Horseman and Gain like the Gokko Sonic Fire Plus it doesn't take well, I have yet to run them through a Ibanez mini tube screamer though. To be honest I would rather shield the cavity and drop in the 57'62' custom shop pickups, but its a vintage styled guitar so it makes more sense to have that config, I more expect Noiseless pickups to be in Modern fender configs.
