Frank Worthington's Life - Maverick On & Off The Football Pitch
LB was one of the best in that era. So good.
Amazing also looking back that he could play his style of graceful and skilful football on the state of some of the club pitches that existed in England at the time.
The slide- rule pass. Gascoigne had that too. But that 1979 FA cup final. Brady had controlled the game for 80 mins then it all went Pete Tong with a late collapse. He just controlled it for the last 5 mins so Arsenal won despite themselves. Controlling the game is a rare gift. Brady had it.
The incredible, unsurpassed, unsurpassable, Liam Brady. My father was a season ticket holder way back and he came home one Saturday evening, told me he’d just seen an exhibition he’d never seen before from a kid called Brady. He said this boy literally CONTROLLED THE GAME. He claimed he’d never seen midfield football like it. Brady was always an Arsenal thing and sadly never played in a really good Arsenal team, but he really was exceptionally good. Closest comparison I’d draw is maybe Cruyff. I’d reluctantly dismiss Henry at this level and say only Bergkamp at his absolute sublime best was on the Brady page.
when the fa cup meant something
Remember only Platini replaced him at Juventus
junkie johnston
Another shocking waste!
His humility, charm and simplicity was so genuine and infectious that even the Irish public at large couldn't help but adopt him as almost one of our own, despite breaking our niave yet ambitious footballing hearts in the summer of 1990 with that goal he should have become the villain but instead he was welcomed into our hearts and became somewhat of a mini celebrity, such was his personality. Watching this video gave me some goosebumps, thank you. RIP Salvatore 'Toto' Schillaci
Why do I hate hyperbolic statements, that are about negative things? I don't know, but I am extremely confident, that Glenn Hoddle, did not hate Matt Le Tissier.
Brady was the greatest gunner imo. Unbelievable player. The first premier player to prove himself in Europe. As good if not better than Platini who was considered best in Europe at that time.
fabulous narration thank you
He looks 25😂
Great video of a wonderful player 💪 I enjoyed him in danish tv in the seventies 😃 he is a Legend R.I.P 🙏 Frank
Bit disappointed. Was expecting something magical from Liam. But it was a straight forward pass a bit short, the attacker did well to get it. The rest was ordinary stuff. I thought it was going to be the game, Ireland v Russia in 1973, a game I had the pleasure of being at. He was magical that day with John Giles. The ball seemed to be glued to his foot, but this looked all quite ordinary to me.
May 1979 I was 11, and it was a magical golden era of football. The whole country stopped for the FA Cup Final. Everyone knew every player and their shirt number. I feel blessed I grew up in those times...
Genius
Nobody respects Gary Waniker
"Perfectly weighted pass" It was like 10 yards away "Rix, under little pressure". Eh there were 2 men closing him down where he had to hit it first time.
Glenn Hoddle was a class act and the England team should have been built around such a player and utilised his talent to the max but this didn't happen which can only lead me to the conclusion that Hoddle must have been worried that Le Tissier might have become a hero for England and he clearly couldn't stomach that so left Le Tissier out of his squad after Matthew had scored a hat trick in a friendly before the tournament, so Hoddle's petty jealousy and insecurities deprived the national team of a genuine quality talent.
Amazing player!

Strange people, proud of being ugly bad persons.
What an incredible flair player and genius coach Cruyff was. But in my very humble opinion he wasn't genius enough to work out that his pass pass pass philosophy would eventually result post Messi in the removal of flair players from football. He wouldn't have played himself in his teams. Anyone who dwells on the ball without passing within a second will be dropped next game and seen as a non team player. RIP football genius.
Liam Brady was zinedine zidane before zinadine zidane
how brave
The narration couldn't be any less boring
Liam Brady was such a brilliant footballer. I don’t believe the Arsenal and a lot of fans today have given him the respect he deserve. I think David Beckham also took many leaves out of his book.
More awful AI narration. Go away!
Actually, he played just about ok. He was a far better player than this shows. You could have picked 20 or more better 'Chippy' performances.
I watched this FA Cup Final in Jolly’s department store TV department in Bath. I was 10 years old and my mum left me there sitting on a stool watching the game surrounded by husbands of women shopping. It was such an amazing game and the atmosphere in that TV department was something special. The game was so good to watch. Liam Brady run the show in the first half and then the dramatic ending with Sammy McIlroy running ecstatically to the United supporters. Then within a minute Alan Sunderland had won the game and he was ecstatic with absolute wonderment at what he achieved. It was the most incredible afternoon. I’ll never forget it.
My favourite player of all time.
Liam Brady, what a player, its that goal in 1978 at White Hart Lane that does it for me. I was 11, no live league matches in those days and the BBC staff had been on strike so no match of the day on the Saturday, but I recall the strike ended in time to show the highlights, I reckon the strikers were gooners and so we all got to see the goal that for me started the legend. Brady Brady, Brady Brady, born is the king of Highbury!
Fame and fortune are not for everyone. He did what he desired in life. Good on him.
A football video as if made by an Adam Curtis. ... And at that moment, the Shah of Iran was deposed.
I was there the best cup final I've ever been to the emotions running out of control 2.0 up and suddenly 2.2 you could hear a pin drop our end and the suddenly from nowhere an eruption of noise you had to be there to experience what I'm saying there were some great games at this time I thought the 5.0 thrashing of the yids at white Hart Lane was the best and Brady played his part in that game as well but this cup final will always have a special part in my heart ❤️ ❤
Gary Linneker is a highly respected player in the game of football. His status is of a quality striker that could fit in any team, as in the later so called dreamteam of Cruyff. It speaks vollumes to the intelligence of Linneker that he understood his position and his admiration for Cruyff wasn't influenced by his decission to sideline him. It wasn't a personal thing. But to be named as a Barcelona striker on the same list as Romario, Ronaldo, Stoichkov is not a small feat at all. Respect for Linneker still remains!!!!
I was in that stand behind that goal. Anybody else still around? Rix was also a very good player.
What many don't get is that possession is not so much an offense tactic, it's a defensive tactic because if you have possession, the opponent can't score.
I can't believe he only won a solitary England cap. Incredible. Alf Ramsey only picked 'yes men'.
Legend, and top TOP fella.
Thank you for such a befitting montage. RIP Salvatore Toto Schillachi ❤
Who in their righteous mind takes any notice of what Linekar says!?
When Lineker was at Barcelona, he said Cruijff was still the best player on the trainingpitch
Lineker or Romario? I think that is a no-brainer
You forgot Laurie Cunningham Liam Brady Paul Ince Steve Archibald Mark Hughes Ian Rush Paul Gascoigne
Brady isn't British, Rush & Hughes didn't have great spells abroad. Gazza & Ince did ok in Italy but neither won anything. Archibald & Cunningham both did very well in their first season, winning La Liga, but less successful afterwards for various reasons (injury, out of favour).
Half of today's EPL managers follow the ideas that Johan came up with first. All 4 managers of the current PL top 4 all are in a way Cruijff's pupils
That was a nice message, about context timing and the right circumstances. In short, talent alone is not enough you always need to have a little bit of luck in life as well. Unless your name is Leo Messi
Cruyff would probably think that Lineker is a bell end, like most people do
No, for example, Le Tissier is a bell end, not Lineker.
Everyone goes off their heads in life and he was no different
