Eurovision Song Contest 1973 - Spanish Commentary
Well, folks. Here we go with something that I've ALWAYS wanted to share in this channel. I've always wanted to share content related to the famous Eurovision Song Contest. This is another [not exactly] complete edition of the program. This is the 18th presentation of the annual event. It was hosted in Luxembourg in 1973. 17 countries competed that year and this was also the [unfortunate] final year with the ridiculous (in my opinion) voting procedure that was introduced two years ago. Of course, the jury in 1973 did vote for an incredible song with great feeling. And this was also the edition of the couple with the purple jumpsuits. All included with commentary in Spanish. See for yourselves!
THE LIST OF COUNTRIES AND SONGS:
1. 🇫🇮: Marion Rung - "Tom, Tom, Tom" (04:33)
2. 🇧🇪: Nicole and Hugo - "Baby, Baby" (08:19) [CUT FOR COPYRIGHT REASONS]
3. 🇵🇹: Fernando Tordo - "Tourada" (8:58)
4. 🇩🇪: Gitte - "Junger Tag" (12:41)
5. 🇳🇴: Bendik Singers - "It's Just a Game" (16:24)
6. 🇲🇨: Marie - "Un train qui part" (19:32)
7. 🇪🇸: Mocedades - "Eres tú" (23:16)
8. 🇨🇭: Patrick Juvet - "Je vais me marier, Marie" (26:54)
9. YU: Zdravko Čolić - "Gori vatra" (30:26)
10. 🇮🇹: Massimo Ranieri - "Chi sarà con te" (33:56)
11. 🇱🇺: Anne-Marie David - "Tu te reconnaîtras" (37:33)
12. 🇸🇪: The Nova - "You Are Summer" (40:46)
13. 🇳🇱: Ben Cramer - "De oude muzikant" (44:25)
14. 🇮🇪: Maxi - "Do I Dream" (48:09)
15. 🇬🇧: Cliff Richard - "Power to All Our Friends" (51:24)
16. 🇫🇷: Martine Clémenceau - "Sans toi" (55:11)
17. 🇮🇱: Ilanit - "Ey sham" (58:54)
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
Many different sources have been used in order to make this reconstruction happen. The audio was NEVER in stereo in the original airings, so the stereo was actually put together by experts using their expertise in AI upscaling and remastering. My acknowledgment and congratulations go to them. Also, the quality in the audio during the applauding changes from time to time. That is because of the difference in quality on the audio between the two sources used in this revision.
IMPORTANT FACTS:
This specific edition is known to many as the event with the EXTREME security measures due to the tragic events in the Olympic Games in Munich the previous year. This was the debut year for Israel, and the fears of terror threats against the country and it's entrant were certainly no joke. The late Terry Wogan, who was the longest-serving ESC commentator for the BBC, recalled that the floor manager in the auditorium said "Please remain in your seats when you're applauding. Do not stand up. Otherwise you may be shot!". As I mentioned, there was a [RIDICULOUS] voting process where each participating country brought to Luxembourg two jury members (One over 25 and another under 25) and they would award between 1 to 5 points for EACH song. Also, this is the VERY FIRST year where the EBU allowed songs to be performed in English and NOT necessarily in the language of the country. The original language rule would return in the 1977 contest and would last all the way up to 1998 [The last year with the orchestra]

Well, since I don't have anything interesting to share, I thought I might bring you this that I have saved for a long time before it disappeared from YT. This is a segment of commercial breaks aired during the TV version of the musical "Once Upon a Mattress" with Carol Burnett that was broadcast on the 11th of December of 1972. COMING SOON: I'm trying to come up with more content to share. It's...

Well, here's a very short one. Two versions of the Season 9 bumpers of #KnotsLanding. It wasn't really that tough to make it, but I'm still hoping to find the FULL painting used in the credits. This show is one of my absolute summer favorites. It's opening credits are incredible and it's theme song is as well. But I've been wondering how it would look like if it had the style of the opening credits from the last two seasons of #Dallas. Well, I've decided to make a Dallas styled intro mock for the third season of #Baywatch. This mock was made for the "River of No Return" episodes which...

I know that this is already available here on TH-cam, but I've decided to share it myself because I figured that since the video that originally came with it made it a bit uneasy to find it. Anyways, this is the infamous wedding of Liza and Steve Kazlo dated to the 22nd of August of 1975, according to sources. This is the ONLY "Dallas" opening mock I was able to save and now I'm showcasing it for you guys to see the work that the original account has mad...

I never realized until just this moment that my beloved Leslie from GL was hated Joyce Coleman on ATWT! I was six when Leslie died and I still remember when she flatlined!
RIP James Earl Jones. We won't forget you
This is incredible. A full episode of SFT with original commercials from 1975. I was only 7 when this aired. Thanks for sharing. Brings back a lot of good memories.
Hey, it's my pleasure. I may only be 20 years of age, but I know for a fact that classic soaps can enchant my young heart as well. I'm happy that you enjoyed!
It's a shame the show ended with season 9. Seasons 7 and 8 were terrible and the show really regained its footing with sharper writing and the addition of Beacham.
John wasn't too much a villain as James. John mostly done terrible things for the greater good while James done terrible things for the greater evil.
At 14:50 Mike tells Carly you can "count on me" which was the last song played in the ATWT 40th anniversary montage. Count on Me by Cece Winans and the late great Whitney Houston.
🌞
These are from 1973, not 1972.
That Chiffon margarine commercial has cracked me up. And even after more than 50 years, it's STILL not nice to fool Mother Nature! 😂 Thanks so much for sharing, Ed! 👍🏻 I have a very special S.A.U. related question for you. Can you please give us a recap/synopsis of what happened in Morphdale on the original "A Quest for Love" for the week of October 8-12, 1973?
Well, what can I say?! Sorry, mother nature! 😂 Thanks for enjoying! Well, according to sources: Andy gets sentenced to 7 years in prison for the murder of Alyssa Matthews, Philip gets kidnapped by thugs hired by Dolph Meratto (one of them looks like Phil), Theresa suffers a heart attack, Marisa tries to kill Louisa as she has been stalking her for months trying to win back Harris, and Dolph receives the news that Libby was shot and killed by a group of terrorists in Paris.
The drums! 😊
These are some of the very first commercials in my lifetime!
Even in the 70's, they still had that stereotypical organ soap opera music. Lol
What a treat it is seeing these vintage episodes of the soaps from the golden era of daytime soap operas, the late 1960's to the early 1980's. Thank you so very much again Mr. Sanchez, your work is so appreciated. Christopher Berneau, Michael Zaslow and so many others were brilliant. This was the day that NBC expanded Another World to 90 minutes and had some heavy storylines going on as well (I believe the death of Janice Frame by Rachel Cory). And of course on ABC General Hospital was the number one soap at that time. But again, being that this was the golden age of soaps (IMO) Guiding Light, Another World and General (all sharing the same time slot (more less with AW being 90 minutes) each still had brilliant actors and excellent writers, directors, etc. What few daytime soaps we have left today are garbage. Thanks again Edwyn!!
No problem! I am always happy to share this type of content… especially rare episodes. I hope that you keep enjoying what I share! - Edwyn!
Tina is a real skank!!
be cool
never see that coming

This was also 2 years after the premiere of The Young and the Restless, and during that time on CBS Daytime line-up, The Young and the Restless was followed by Search for Tomorrow until 1980.
(after some commercials) Announcer: Grimsby and Beutel-together again-tonite @6! (Opening to the 430 movie)
One Life To Live, brought to you by the Colgate-Palmolive company: makers of Palmolive dishwashing liquid that softens hands while you do dishes and by new Colgate 100 mouthwash, the mouthwash that fights bad breath, never fear 100 is here, Colgate 100!
today is oct.5 2024, and I still remember this in the 80's! My dad loved this soap opera. I love this theme song! So soothing and nostalgic!
I always laugh when characters are on soaps say something like, "You better get ready, so you'll be dressed when they get here." It's clear, at least to me, that the script had it the other way around but that they had limited time and money to do multiple takes.
Larry and Susan were my most favorite couple on the soap, but part of their convo creeped me out at 34:58 to 35:10. Still , I stopped watching ATWT when they split up😢
This Beverley Mckenzie at HER VERY BEST!!!! I have never seen in My whole life ( I have been watching Daytime Drama 's since I was 3 years old) Some One Act to this Much Perfection! I 1st started watching Beverley Mckenzie on AW as Iris Cory Bancroft & the on TEXAS as Iris Cory Wheeler & oh Boy did she make a Impact on Me. Then to watch her create her 2nd Daytime DIVA on GL. She walks onto the set & Everything STOPS for her & her Amazing Talent to Read & put any Character in their Place. R.I.P. my dear Beverley ♥️
Blair underwood played Bobby Blue? Wow, he was so young and handsome here! He's so handsome and extremely talented!
Brings back memories
I loved these episodes they were great 😊
The only thing I remember about the CBS years of Search For Tomorrow is, my family would sit and watch it, they were about the CBS soaps, I also remember Liza and Travis to me were a great looking couple, I was a very very young kid so at that time I didn't understand why my family watched soaps, as I got older I got hooked on them thanks to Knots Landing and then I started watching others, I seen a couple of the NBC episodes when it use to run on USA Network, I wish some network would run classic episodes of soaps again, I remember SoapNet, but they ran shows a few of them to me weren't really soaps but dramas. I'd love to air SFT, and many other soaps if I had the money to start a soap channel, or an online soap network maybe charging $20 a month or $200 a year, airing episodes in order starting from whatever years I could acquire.
CBS needs to look BACK and see how 80s tv was centered around love, education, family and truth. Not death and terror garbage. BRING THIS BACK sans cellphones
I had such a boy crush on Staci Keanan back then, ever since My Two Dads
I loved Rita! Man, ‘77- 84 were my fave years. The early ‘90s weren’t bad. I quit by ‘94, with a little sporadic watching here and there.
How did Rita lose her baby (later in February before Holly/Christina escape to Santa Domingo) when she was held hostage by Roger at Indian Lake?
When I hear this theme I think of the days of the sixties and seventies eighties.
That's the legendary Don Pardo doing the announcing! Don was best remembered for his work on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (including that infamous episode hosted by Nancy Kehrigen, who couldn't act or sing) and on TV game shows such as the original versions of JEOPARDY and THE PRICE IS RIGHT.
Yes indeed! An amazing voice. I'm sure that EVERYONE grew up listening to Don Pardo's voice opening SNL every Saturday night.
Tune in again tomorrow for The Edddgggee Of Night! This portion of The Edge of Night, has been brought to you by, Dawn. Dawn takes grease out of your way. And by Pringles. Once you pop, you can't, you can't, you can't stop! (Pause) Wardrobes by Donna Karans, Men's wear by Barney's. Stay tuned for The Price Is Right...next of the most of these CBS stations! OMG Anthony Herrera as Mike Kaslo… I wish they’d given him and Sarah more to do in Henderson!
Thank you! Loved Search for Tomorrow… always will!
Definitely from 1973. Sounded a lot different than the 1980s closing theme.
Yes, being of July 1983!
This is definitely NOT 8Oct73. AW was pre-empted for AL playoffs that day. This is 11Oct73, per the daily synopsis on AWHP.
I love Arlene's delivery of her lines. She was an excellent actress and beautiful too. I forgot just how much I liked her. Meg was great too! What a wonderful era for Love of Life. Chandler Hill Harben was my favorite Ben Harper. He was great in that role and a super sexy man. I do miss LOL. Thanks so much for sharing this great episode!!!
I love Arlene's line, "Life is full of people who want to put you away." Isn't that the truth? Or, else, they try to find some other way to destroy you.
Thanks so much for sharing this excellent episode of Love of Life. It greatly showcases the outstanding work of Tudi Wiggins as the incomparable Meg. It was characters like Meg who truly made soap operas worth watching.
The man who is singing and playing the piano did a great job!!! He sounded like Fogelburg!
This intro did not come out in 1983. This intro is from 1977-1980
I know that. This is just a simulation of what the credits would have looked like in 1983 if the 1977-80 design was kept in '83. And it is not an intro, it is an outro.
@@EdwynNSanchez I wish they would have kept this outro longer.
I wish I would have MADE this outro longer, but without more cleaner sources of the vocal version of the theme song I used here, it was not possible. But I understand.
I cant wait for the 1998 Daytime Emmy's
This theme was the best! x
