London Klezmer Quartet

The London Klezmer Quartet (LKQ) was formed in 2009 by a group of klezmer specialists keen to explore the almost-lost wedding music of Jewish eastern Europe. The band has played all over the world from Brazil to Australia and recorded four studio albums. The band is a traditional line-up of clarinet, violin and accordion with Indra Buraczewska (Latvia) on double bass and vocals.

From the 1920s Warsaw Yiddish Theatre, Goodbye New York tells the story of someone who has migrated to the Golden Land of America, but failed to find love and fortune and wishes to return home to Eastern Europe. Sung by our very own Indra Buraczewska in Walsrode, Germany, June 2024.

We played a beautiful concert on the island of Föhr at the Scheswig-Holstein Musik Festival. The audience loved it and asked for more, but in order to have time for an encore they had to telephone through to the ferry company to ask the last boat back to the mainland to wait for us.
