Mr Free's Final Thoughts
Well, here we are. My last episode. But no worries, the podcast will hopefully continue in the future with my replacement.
If you value what I have provided over the last 6 years on these episodes, please consider following me on my two other channels as I head into the next chapter of life.
One channel is my Early Riser channel on TH-cam. It started as a hiking channel and is morphing into a Mr. Free philosophy channel. We will discuss some helpful life subjects where I will continue to bring in experiences from my SOF operator and civilian life and my time on long hiking trails. Please subscribe and join the journey. youtube.com/@EarlyRiser71?si=S5Lo0nVG1draoiuk
My second channel is new and more operator-centric. It's called The Operator's Mind and will focus on things to help increase mental performance and reduce a lot of the mental noise. This channel is also for everyone, not just operators. youtube.com/@TheOperatorsMind?si=67BPbQC2VKwRQErP
Links to my two Substack channels are below as well. Here I will be writing about subjects that add value to all humans. Check them out. Reading is a part of self-development... so do it!!!

PJ School Recruiting Brief w/ Jordan, Chuck, & Nick
มุมมอง 4644 หลายเดือนก่อน
We are provided an opportunity to brief every graduating class of PJs and CROs before they exit the pipeline. This is our opportunity to share this amazing future opportunity with the graduates as they begin their PJ/CRO journeys. Jordan, Chuck, and Nick did an outstanding job communicating what we do for the nation. Not everything is included in this edited version of the brief, but I captured...
TACP-FTU Brief w/ 17 STS Operator Adam
มุมมอง 6686 หลายเดือนก่อน
I remembered recording this recruiting brief (back in February), and it has been sitting in a folder on my computer for months. This is a recruiting brief Adam (17 STS) and I gave to the graduating class at the TACP FTU in Vegas. This is great info for not only aspiring or current TACPs but for anyone who has their sights set on trying to come to our organization in the future. Adam is a very g...
How to Find Success in OTC (Operator Training Course)
มุมมอง 6366 หลายเดือนก่อน
Our operator training course (OTC) is a 9-month advanced course that trains our operators to be warfighters at the highest levels. OTC is a course where if you let the stress and schedule control your thoughts and actions, you will struggle to find success. Therefore, we try to prime the operators for success during a week-long course dubbed "Peak Performance", where we help the operators learn...
CCT Operator "JC" Interview
มุมมอง 1.2K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
JC is a Combat Controller who lived every operator's dream at this top-tier level. He was very experienced when he came to the unit and has always been a more open-minded problem-solver and operator. There are many take-aways from this episode, but...
Phase III, Operator Selection: Daily Recordings from 3 x Candidates
มุมมอง 7527 หลายเดือนก่อน
It seems much of the angst of those considering applying for our operator selection is centered around Phase III. This is our "field" portion of selection and is a substantial event, even for the most fit and prepared operators. But it shouldn't be feared. It should be highly sought after by anyone in the position to come throw their hat in the arena. In this episode, I compiled the Phase III d...
PJ Team Leader "TEK" Interview
มุมมอง 8488 หลายเดือนก่อน
We are provided an opportunity to brief every graduating class of PJs and CROs before they exit the pipeline. Although we usually take a few PJs with us out to Kirtland AFB to help brief, none could break away from training and real-world commitments to travel. So, we got creative and used our virtual resources to pipe TEK into the audience. This podcast is a recording of the brief we gave to t...
Who Would Thrive Inside This Unit?
มุมมอง 1.1K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
Is this special unit the right place for you? We asked some of our gray beards, "Who would be a good fit for the unit?" Their answers help illuminate what it takes to thrive inside our culture of excellence up here. This assignment should be on every AFSPECWAR operator's goal sheet. That doesn't mean we will be a good fit for you, or you a good fit for us, but you will never know until you appl...

Even though I’m not part of the Air Force community, it’s been a pleasure listening to all the candidates in the 24 pipeline. Knowing that each candidate wants to improve themselves, not only physically, but mentally each and every day and strives to be a better version of themselves tomorrow is reassuring that they are prepared for what comes in the future. We wish you good luck in the future Mr. Free. And hopefully your successor will continue on with this podcast.

At 11:09 he talks about a feeling of ‘enlightenment’ when you can just be indefinitely resilient. Where does this feeling come from? Is it something you can just do from practice? I think it was really interesting he mentioned that and it would help me a ton if I can do this in selection

    • @insightthruexperience
      @insightthruexperience 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

I can't/won't speak for him, but I loved his thought process. To me, enlightenment is the feeling you get when you quit resisting the things you don't control and fully accept the moment you're in. It then gives you full access to your mental and physical capabilities. You become engrossed in the present moment. It's there where you can find the true depths of your ability. Most of us rarely reach this place. Our egos and our environment keep us distracted. Learn to focus on what you can control, and also learn how to be comfortable in letting go of the things you don’t control.

Aspiring Green Beret here. I was medically rejected from AFSW, but I still listen to this podcast all the time while I continue to train for SFAS. Thank you, Mr. Free for continuing to make episodes, and thank you to all the candidates for being so genuine and descriptive of your experiences. As someone stuck in the medical clearance phase for over a year now, this podcast helps me stay motivated and to not overlook the less obvious qualities like grip strength (seems to get emphasized A LOT), and the mental/personality attributes. This podcast inspired me to join a climbing gym and to train Jiu Jitsu, rather than just lifting weights and running/rucking. I'm quite bored in my civilian day job, driving around and drilling holes in walls, but the podcast has inspired me to find ways to keep my mind sharp and find ways to practice novel problem solving. I also find it super encouraging to hear how humble and professional the candidates are, it motivates me to stay focused on being my best, regardless of the minimum standard, so I can hopefully work alongside similar type of people one day. Don't really have any questions. Just wanted to express appreciation.
