    One of my biggest things for headphones is noise leaking. Do you think that there is much of a difference between leakage for the PX7 S2e and the Sony X5? Im trying to get an upgrade from my JBL TWS earbuds for school so I’m sure the sound leak will be improved either way.

    • @faqnatics
      @faqnatics 23 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hey Amelia. I’d say both have a relatively similar fit. Leakage is always tough, because higher clamp force on the ears solves it, but too much and you don’t want to wear them for more than 30 minutes. Both are comfortable to wear for long hours, and both keep most of the bass inside. I think the plastic shell of the Sony allows for a bit more outside reverb, which isn’t the same as leakage, but does mean that some of that bass energy is lost vibrating the earcup, rather than directing towards the listener. This is where the premium and more inert materials of the B&W headphones help to keep the sound energy directed towards the listener. Hope that helps.

    No. Your were quite right in your assumption and answer. I just like the idea of doing away the gazillion cables. Here is a processor for 6K (Emotiva RMC 1+) and I was hoping to find a amp for the same or little less. And I'm on Anthonys band wagon.

      Glad I was on target, and no doubt on getting rid of all the XLR cables. I did some quick research, and I don’t see anything mentioned in the RMC1+ that says it has AES67 or Dante available to it. This would be a requirement, as you need this protocol on both ends to make it work. Point me to something if you’ve seen this, and I’m happy to help verify it for you. I was working during CEDIA, so didn’t get a chance to see the product in person, but it’s an expensive product so let’s just make sure it does everything you want! 😉

    Anthony....does the AES/ dante connection have to be 16/24/32 specific for use or it doesn't matter

    • @faqnatics
      @faqnatics 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Here’s what I think you’re asking, but let me know if I misunderstood. There are a few “AES” designations to pay attention to. For the purposes of send multi-channel high-res audio, 2-way communication, etc, we are discussing AES67, which is what you’d be looking for. It can be used on a 16/24/32 processor, the limit to the channel assignments really just comes to a limit in the processor. My StormAudio processor as an example has 32 AoIP outputs, which I can use in multiple configurations or setups in multiple rooms. Really the only constraint is having Ethernet cables connected over the network. Connections are as simple as an AES67 Ethernet port from the processor, source, etc. into a network switch, and then an Ethernet cable from the switch to the AES67 port on the back of you amplifier of amplified speaker. Then after discovering them, you can configure them however you want. Does that answer the question? Either way let me know and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

    With Holiday sales prices I was about to purchase the Sony X5 headphones. I looked at every comment on Amazon. I usually start with the 1 star rating. An engineer’s review of the fragile and easily breakable earphone posts convinced me to not buy Sony. Bowers & Wilken S2e was on sale on Amazon and I purchased them. I am now looking at TH-cam reviews and I better understand I made the best choice, especially since I am an amateur audiophile and listen to the performance details regardless of the genre. Do they use Bluetooth 5.4 ?

    • @faqnatics
      @faqnatics 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No, they operate on BT5.2, which is pretty standard for the recent Bose and Sony models as well. From what I know of 5.4, a lot of the difference revolves around point to multipoint (not for audio), but in the data, or retail price tagging. Distance, codecs, and other features are the same, although I’m sure there is, as always, a bit of a reliability upgrade. Really for tech like BT, it just depends on when a headphone is released as to who has the latest version. Plus since lossless protocols like AAC and AptX have been out for years, it’s the drivers, wiring, and DSP that are going to have the biggest result on the sound. As an example I do have a pair of Sonos Ace headphones which are on 5.4, but don’t sound as good, or have the ANC of the Px7S2e, Sony, or Bose models. I’ll have a deeper review during the holidays, but personally while I like knowing my toys have the latest tech, I wouldn’t be too worried about 5.2 vs 5.4 as a deal breaker. Hope that helps. If you had something more specific as a reason to ask, let me know.

      I double checked on this, and the Px7 S2e headphones are a faux leather (vegan leather, whatever you want to call it). It's often used as a more resilient material. On the Px8, I believe the area on the outside of the earcup and headband are nappa leather, but I'm not 100% on the earcup material itself. Hope that helps. Interesting food for thought. Easy to watch other reviews that don’t take into consideration the effect of aggressive ANC on playback quality. The only knock on B&W that I’ve researched is that multiple users have experienced failure of the materials on the head piece which can slip due to poor adhesive. Have you encountered any issues with the headphones beginning to split and fail? Maybe more on the PX8 model. I’ve seen the PX7s2e model at a reduced price and it’s tempting. By positioning them into the corners, you get the most gain out of the subs, but by having a sub in each corner, and adjusting for time and polarity, you are generally able to cancel out most standing or modal waves in the room. Since that covers the general bass in the room, we then layered in one Infrasonic sub. Only one was needed in this room for pressurization, and because lower notes are so long, they don't really have the same issues with modal waves. Hope that helps. Once I get my new theater done, I'll have it initially setup with a Storm Processor because there is a lot it can do that the Trinnov can't, but I will likely borrow one to compare Waveforming vs. Dirac ART vs. just polarity and time aligning the subs in four corners. I think there is a lot of fanboy love for one brand or another because it's probably the first time the room had a processor capable of doing the proper calculations, but I'm curious how they stack up objectively, or what I think will happen is that they effectively do the same thing in different ways, at which point the answer is which one is easier to execute in your room.

    Trying to decide between px7s2e and Beats Studio pro. I like the connectivity with Apple but multipoint is probably fine for me as I mostly just use with my iPhone. I found the beats to be uncomfortable after hours of work calls. Did you find the px7 better for all day use at a desk or just walking around outside? I also live in a hot climate, how do these hold up when it is hot outside?

    • @faqnatics
      @faqnatics 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@naimishpatel2644 no comparison between the two. The Beats are a bit lighter, but the construction is far more plastic, and don’t sit on the top of the head as nicely or seal against the ears as well, IMO, and I own them as well. Both are good products, but the materials, weight balance, and sound from the PX7 S2e are better, and I already own them both, and never pull out my current Beats, even though I have a place in my heart for them, since my team helped to develop them. They are well-made, so you can’t go wrong either way, but yes, I walked around, sat at my desk all day, and am happy I bought the B&W headphones.

    • @faqnatics
      @faqnatics 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@naimishpatel2644 Yes, I believe they can. I find I typically have them connected to my phone, but when on my laptop, I'll have them connected to both. Nothing is simpler than a iPhone accessory to an Apple device, but BT is pretty simple, and once connected, usually auto-connects to the last device. If that was the #1 priority I'd say Beats is best, but if you already know you don't like wearing them for hours at a time, then I think the Px7 S2e are the better product, and deal with the occasional need to go to BT settings to connect to the second device. I have an iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro, along with a few PC based devices, and in the case of over-ear headphones I don't think the Beats or Apple products are as good overall. However, I have a few different in-ears, and since I'm already giving up a bit of quality, I like the lightweight and easy connection of the AirPod Pro, so I can have them in my pocket, pop them in for a call or while watching something, and then put them back in a pocket. With Over-ears, I'm just more concerned with comfort, sound, and materials than the Apple connection. My .02 cents.

      That's not too bad of a room. Unfortunately. you are probably going to be capped at 2-3 seats in the room, so I'd recommend going with a couch to add more seating without as much width. Any chance the room is in an attic space, where the side walls are open behind, rather. than with a wall on the other side? If so you can use fabric walls like me, and place the speakers inside the wall cavities, so they don't take up space in the room. I'll be documenting my room build in November and December once I get over my COVID from CEDIA, and finish my family room project. I you don't have open space behind the walls, go with a good in-wall speakers with an included back-box, so that again, you can. get those seats as far away from the speakers as possible.

My room has concrete walls since I live in a high-rise building in Taiwan. You're right-I might only fit 2 seats in the room, probably positioned around 3 meters away from the screen. I'm planning to use a Barco Bragi projector with DT's AT screen, about 130". For speakers, I'm considering Wisdom Audio P38m point source speakers for LCR, along with Sage Series 2 V2 point source speakers for the surrounds and Atmos channels (based on their website, they can be used in/on-wall and ceiling). Your room build will show in this channel?

    At what SPL are the sweeps being ran? I'm asking because it would help to know what is a peak and what is a dip in relation to the intended output. Fo example if the signal that was sent to the sub (at the 7:39 timestamp) was sent out at 75dB, then it would follow that the only 2 dips below the intended SPL are at 52Hz and roughly 104Hz. That's very different than if the signal was 93dB, which would make everything above 40Hz is losing energy. If the signal was sent out at 75dB you could probably EQ all of those peaks to flatten the response and possibly ad 2-3dB to the 52Hz and 104Hz dips to bring them up a bit if possible.

    • @faqnatics
      @faqnatics หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'll go through some of my notes and ask Anthony, but typically he would be running that signal at reference level with pink noise to properly calibrate it, so I don't think he'd be running it at 75Hz, but I'll see if I can get an answer.

    I did not buy the B&W (yet) Just for one reason, I still have the Sony XM1000II.. For sound quality the S&W might be a bit better, but you need to be in a quiet environment or a studio to hear that ... on the street with all the noise around it will be more difficult to notice. That's whay on the way I find the Sony much more usebul, it has more feachers and is even cheaper.

    • @faqnatics
      @faqnatics 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Everyone has their preferences, and I know what you're saying, but with the noise cancelling features, even walking down the street is a pretty stellar experience. When I took it on a plane, the ear cups seal well enough that if something was playing, I often didn't even need NC on, and if I wanted it quiet adding NC dropped the noise floor dramatically. I'm not a huge proponent of buying tech just to have it, although I often do for testing. I have no issues with saying though, that the B&W, or with any of the other headphones discussed, do an excellent job of blocking out the world when you want, with great audio on top, and then when you get home, work or anywhere that's quiet, they sound even more amazing without that outside sound raising the noise floor as you mentioned. The biggest thing, if you're outside and want to make sure the upgrade is worth it, is making sure that the ear cups are snug, but comfortable for multiple hours. A tighter seal means less outside noise, and better bass that can't escape. So thicker ear cups, or the material they use, also aid in not only the comfort, but also in keeping you better connected to what you're listening to.
