Let me know when your coming through Chicago my man
Love the new POV🤙
Do you do the urine test at the yard or sent to a facility?
@@getrightentertainmentaz6409 they do one wherever you're doing orientation at. Then they send it off for testing
Hey man I start May orientation Monday, I'm looking at buying a cb radio, do I need to supply my own antenna or do the trucks have one I can hook my CB up too for when I solo out?
@@fastlifeadam I hope orientation goes well for you bro. And most of the shops have antennas and what they call the "pirch" for them. You just need the CB and a cable for the antenna. But if you talk to anyone at the body shop they can tell you the specifics of the cable for the antenna
@@rqgerthat right on
That dodge ram driver behind the store, moved from Sheridan or citrus heights... lol hahahaha. ;) lol jk.
Happiest of birthdays RqgerThat!
Thank you man!
Happy Birthday 🎂 Bro
@@Zooka208 thanks man!
Going to be a good night! Got 3 hours of RQger that! I might throw a few more comments while watching! Hahaha. Hope you're doing well, broski! Stay warm.
@@Zooka208 yea it’s a looong one 😆
Hey brother, nice video! My application just got approved with May yesterday, I plan to start with them in January👍🏼 Question for ya, does May allow their drivers to park their personal vehicle at the terminal they run out of? Thanks for the response, bro!
@@davidnoonan7893 thank you! And they most definitely do!
@ awesome, thanks for the quick response. I was thinking that was the case, but forgot to ask the recruiter that question.
@ no worries man, any time!
Good company to start with I lasted 4 months and had to find more miles.
@@CucamongaRob what were you averaging? I hit 9k my first month and just hit 10k for my 2nd month
Idaho is cheap on taxes. Could prolly find a cheap spot to rent in fruitland Payette or caldwell idaho.
@@Zooka208 I'm gonna be moving to Wyoming sometime around February/March
Bro, you're one of the best trucking channels out there! Love watching the content. Have a great week.
@@Zooka208 nahhh there's way better channels out there. I'm just doing me and I'm glad you're enjoying it dude. Thank you!
What’s your 20 Roger? Did you get them 10 G’s? Warm blankets and thick onesies for that little one. Safe travels brother.🚛
@@JacksonWood-b4v appreciate you brother
This dude is awesome!
@@Zooka208 thank you bro
I hope you're a trainer by February! LoL just for shits, these guys don't hair follicle? I left a dispensary job a little bit ago to be a trucker. My system is clean. And I'm committed. I start school Jan 6th at sage
haha that would be cool indeed. and Nah, they just do UA's
Right on! IDAHO! next time your in Payette or Ontario theres a great steak house right next to the truck stop.
Which truck stop? I've been to that little Mexican restaurant right next to the Pilot/Flying J
@rqgerthat across from that is a restaurant called cowboys BAR and grill. Hopefully it'd still good
@@Zooka208 I'll have to check it out when I'm back out that way
Dude you're legit. Love the honest words. I'm scheduled for sage trucking Jan 6th. Hopefully get into May around Feb. I chose them because they have a yard in Payette idaho, 5 mins away from me lol.
That beginning OTR is experience pay. Worth its weight in gold. At least that's how I looked at it at Prime.
And that's the best mindset to have!
do they have safety bonus pay if you choose cpm?
@@fastlifeadam I would think so, but I'm not 100% sure.
Im out of florida, I know they don't pay well, but everything else ive read and heard makes it worth getting my 6 months experience and moving forward. I'll have no liabilites or bills so I'm pretty excited to see the 48 and just get paid what I can at first
@@fastlifeadam yea that's a good way to look at it. Everything else about May is good, just the pay could be a little better. And honestly, compared to other companies the pay is great 😆
Just went solo out of brooks.
@@baldfoo4589 congrats bro! Welcome to the family! If you're still out that way , tell Kurt in orientation I said what's up
This is the best. I just graduated CDL school and have and application in at May that is advancing. Happy Trucking, safe travels RogerThat.
@@JacksonWood-b4v appreciate you dude. And congratulations on getting your CDL. If you got any questions about May feel free to ask 👌
Keep on trucking bro
Man with a plan
Proud of u Roger
@@marcingram9402thank you man! I really appreciate you!!
Bro, you have a similar path as me, lol… I’ve been in sales my whole life. Cars, homes, solar (door-to-door), RV’s, and I even sold cutco knives in college, and similar to you, I’m tired of dealing with people😂 Time to be a trucker👊🏼
@@davidnoonan7893 for sure dude. I used to love sales, door to door was my favorite. (I also sold cutco as well 😂) Now as I'm getting older I have less, and less patience for dumb people so I had to get out of it as well. But with that said, if you like to be by yourself, you'll love OTR
@ lol, that’s funny… Cutco taught me a lot, and door-to-door use to be my favorite way to sell, especially in solar. But you’re right, it’s difficult dealing with dumb people, and the older I get the more introverted I become… so trucking makes perfect sense to me. Maybe I’ll see ya on the road, bro👊🏼
@@davidnoonan7893 yessir brotha! I look forward to jt
Thanks for the content bro, I’m about to start CDL school in a week, and May is the company I hope to go with. I’m going to do the same thing as you, put all my stuff in storage and hit the road. Looking forward to this new adventure! Ps. Sorry about losing your dog man, maybe after some time you’ll want to get another buddy to be your co-pilot. I hear May is very dog-friendly😊
@@davidnoonan7893 that's awesome to hear dude! What is the reason you wanna come to May? Not saying it's a bad choice, just curious though. And thanks for the condolences, but I don't know if I'll ever get another pet. The memories are great, but that goodbye suuucks
@ the main reasons I’m thinking May is bc I have a dog, and it’s hard to find a company that will hire a new driver and allow a 60 lb dog. I don’t have a wife or kids to leave him with. Second, they have new equipment, with double bunks, so more room. Also, they have a terminal in Phx which is where I’m from. Lastly, I’ve heard many people say it’s a great company for new drivers. I don’t expect to break the bank my first year, but the experience is most important to me.
@davidnoonan7893 that's a good mindset to have! A lot of people get into trucking and think their first year is gonna be record breaking numbers financially 😆 But that's awesome man, hopefully we'll meet at a terminal or on the road !
@@rqgerthat 😅 Absolutely, see ya out there!
Is there any regional runs ?? I have kids I know oTR will be tuff
@@LA2XXtharapper they do, it depends on which area you are located. For the west coast I believe when I got hired, they were only looking for OTR. But it could be different now. Never hurts to apply on their website (just google may trucking)
Stay blessed brother and safe on the road
I’m by the Gary Terminal I’m going to be going there around December
@@LA2XXtharapper that's cool You doing orientation in Gary?
@ yeah it’s a terminal there in Gary Indiana
@@LA2XXtharapper dope! Good luck man. You'll be good as long as you have a little common sense
@@rqgerthatthanks brother can you pick between like 5 days out instead of having a OTR runs ??
@@LA2XXtharapper idk really. Regional is different than OTR. I'm out for 4 weeks before I can take a week off. So I'm not sure
Do they have regional accounts instead of OTR ACCOUNTS
I start with them in a few weeks, I also have a gaming laptop lol, I haven't quite figured out how to run fallout 4 without wifi, can you only play while with wifi somewhere? Good luck out there man 👍🏼
@@fastlifeadam early congrats! And yes just download it around wifi. And steam will start in offline mode, and then you can play
You should do a paycheck review for them
Sup nice vlog
@@WanderingWolf365 appreciate it dude!
Did you deserve it?
@@ryanadams3115 deserve what? 😆
Man replace all thos tires
@@Rustynuckles1 the 4th one wasn't so bad. It had good tread and was in decent condition. The company opt'd to do just the other 3
You driving a rig now? Hope your doing well. We gotta get on some rust again sometime!
@@blazingjohnny9577 yea man, got my CDL earlier this year, and just started with this company about a month ago
Which terminal is that?
@@robertpiet3372 it was a Love's I had to stop at on I40 in Williams, AZ
@@robertpiet3372 how was your orientation?!
@@rqgerthat oh yeah there’s some good views I’m in AZ right now with my mentor. Orientation was good I gotta go with a mentor for 5-7 days and then solo out. Not sure if your process was the same
@@robertpiet3372 dope! How you liking it? And yes, pretty much the same process. I was only out for 2 days with my mentor though
@@rqgerthat not bad I’m not to keen on sleeping in the truck with someone else though I definitely couldn’t do teams. I need my own truck. I’m jealous of 2 days with a mentor
Sorry still watching this vid I saw your big boy trip, do they allow you to stop wherever you would like along the way or do they micro manage
@@robertpiet3372 well they give you fueling locations, but as far as for your 30 minute break, or 10 hour reset, they don't care. As long as you make it to where you gotta be, when you gotta be there, they're cool
@@rqgerthat what about personal conveyance do they allow it at all? Do you have a chance to get to Walmart or something similar during training and how about while you’re on the road can you make a stop at a Walmart ?
@@robertpiet3372 so PC is a no no. They allow it under 2 circumstances, if you are at shipper/receiver, and out of hours, and they don't allow you to stay there. Or if you are out of hours and law enforcement tells you to move. They have vehicles that we're allowed to use at the major operating centers for Walmart runs and other necessary runs .I stocked up with a few weeks of groceries myself, but I'd imagine if I run out, I'll get some from Instacart 😂
@@rqgerthat that’s kind of shitty honestly, they tell you where to go to you said so you couldn’t park overnight at a Walmart ? That’s kind of bogus lol
@@robertpiet3372 I don't mind it really, some Walmarts you can't park at, so I'd imagine someone along the lines has been towed for being there which is why they don't like us going there. Plus maneuvering a truck into some Walmarts would be a pain. But you'll be at May yard at least once a week so you can just snag a van
Does may allow you to use the fuel points earned for your shower tokens? Do they require you to use certain truck stops? Do you plan your own route or do they have a set route you have to take? Do they have driver facing cameras? That’s my last question I promise lmao
@@robertpiet3372 I'll respond in a bit. Getting some dinner rq. Gimme an hour or two, I got you
@@rqgerthat sounds good man I appreciate you. Still watching this long ass vlog right now haha while I’m doing my “may content” training videos
@@rqgerthat I lied I got one more question, I just saw you say the receiver took 4 hours to unload, do we get paid extra after 2 hours for that ?
@@robertpiet3372 alright just got back to the truck. So yea, you get a rewards card at pilot or flying j, and you can get all the points from fueling. They send you routing/directions anywhere they're sending you, which is cool because you won't have to worry about being anywhere a truck shouldn't be. No inner facing cameras, just ones that record if there is an incident
@@robertpiet3372 so you get daily pay, so regardless of how much you drive/wait, you're getting paid.
What’s the pay like at may?
@@malcolmmalcolm2934I'm not sure if there's a differnce from new driver, or experienced. But they have a daily pay, starting at $120 (with plenty of room to make more with time put in), and a CPM safety bonus. Both can, and will increase over time.
Thanks for the tour. What's your best game of bowling? I don't believe I've ever broke 150 lol.
@@IrishMan-7170 I think it was somewhere around 240. I used to have a 200 average, but I'd hate to see my average now days 😂
How soon after orientation do you get your first check? I’m going to orientation for may on Monday
@@robertpiet3372 you'll get it the following week on Thursday! Good luck with Orientation. Tell Kurt, that Roger That says hey! 👋
@@rqgerthat so I need to bring enough money to eat on for about 10 days ?
@@robertpiet3372 yea, the hotel you'll stay at has a decent breakfast, then you get free lunch during orientation. The hotel rooms have a microwave, and I think a fridge too. There's also a Fred Myers right up the street so if you wanna get some stuff for dinners for the week that's an option also
If you can’t drive, you do TH-cam videos. No skills either way.
@@brianhoppenrath8379 I'm confused by your comment 😆
good luck backing when u get to a tight ass busy drop lot woooooooo
@@harryknutts8428 yea I'm looking forward to those scenarios. I'm a decent backer as is, but there is always room for improvement.
@@rqgerthat The other drivers are very impatient especially when they smell a rookie I don’t know how they know, but they know when you don’t know shit and they seem to rush you even more all you can do is stay focused and do what you do or give up the maneuver and take another spin around the lot and let it clear out a little bit
@@harryknutts8428 for sure! I appreciate the advice
@@rqgerthat just curious why you chose trucking and what are your goals you hope to reach?
@@harryknutts8428 I grew up around truckers, my family founded a trucking company back in the 50's in Wyoming that's still around and kickin'. My pops was a trucker, my grandpa was. As for goals I'm just looking to travel and make a little money and film it all. I'd like to get my own truck in the future at some point as well
i been truckin 4 years and it gets easier but it dont , its like being a bull fighter its easy as long as u stay good but the bull wants to win

Every rookie has to make a video
@@fredstrehlow511 yup 👍

A lot of companies don't allow drivers making videos
@@fredstrehlow511 good reason for a different company. That and the in cab facing cameras. It's disgusting americans give in to these intrusions on personal libertys
I remember soloing out in SLC back in 2003. I already had experience driving doubles but not OTR. pretty easy at the SLC yard. Not sure if that yard is still active. Had some decent trucks back then. I later moved to Knight and got a new truck every year on my anniversary.
@Michael-ud5og keep it up. I drive 15 years. Most of my years were with Knight Refrigerated and Amerigas. It will pay off.
