THANK YOU for making this. Peter is wonderful and has changed my life.
You are most welcome. He is a brilliant man!
"I don't like your box, fit into my box."
I feel like all of this should be evaluated by the This Little Corner Of The Internet people, you would be a great guest/situation for Paul Vanderklay to follow.
A rare sane discussion. Thank you.
Thank you for the watch!
I love the way you did this for this family! ❤️
Thank you Jacci!
Update: On July 28th the board of discipline arrived at a unanimous verdict of "guilty". Oord's credentials were withdrawn.
Thank you for the update.
“The yuck factor” brilliant! Seemingly the motivating factor is leadership who don’t relate to same sex attraction and therefore nullify those who do. If one must relate as a criteria for acceptance and inclusion, especially those in the leadership, LGBTQ + will continue to be rejected and excluded.
I love it. Never knew the term liminality. I will try to use it in my next conversation. Maybe a bit too secular for me but very helpful. Good heart too and great insides❤
Thank you!

This was excellent! Thank you!
Comments like this make my day and encourage me to keep going. Thank you!

Thank you, Tom. We need so much more of this in the world. My favorite of yours to date. I think when people cannot give others safe space in these commonalities of humanity, it ends up making everyone's grief heavier and harder. I know it does for me, when I am trying to grieve, and instead, I get met with a controlling agenda. Thank you for taking the time to help all of us grow in our liminal spaces and moments. Sincerely, Sarah
So glad it was helpful! Thank you for listening
Bigoted much?
Not sure what you mean
You make no sense at all. Sorry
Try the long form for context
I assume that Dr. Ord is familiar with a paper written by Dr. J. Kenneth Grider. He was a well established Nazarene theologian and wrote a well documented paper showing that queer was not a choice. The paper was never presented due to pressure by the Church of the Nazarenes leadership. That paper helped me to conclude that acceptance and affirmation were both correct and necessary for Christianity!
I will pass this info along and look for that paper myself. Thank you
This man brought up some very interesting and intelligent points up abt tattoos 🎉
You should check out the long form conversation we had. Very fascinating.
Love to see you posting again Tom. You were an intermediary pastor at my church a good while ago, and I remember how much you and your message spoke to me at that time. I've been wondering about and praying for you for some time now- but haven't had the courage to reach out. I'm sorry about that. I loved the topic of this video. I don't often find myself in a church anymore, but I think a lot of what's been said here echos my personal relationship with God. Like you I think the majority of my prayers tend along the lines of asking for a change big or small, and I've come to accept within myself to not expect a perceptible change. Like your story of Thérèse of Lisieux, though, I've learned to be blatantly honest with the Lord in prayer. Among other fairly frequent prayers for forgiveness and of thankfulness, and the occasional joke, I will groan and complain to him, pester him with questions, shake my head and make snide remarks, and laugh at the ridiculousness of it all (the good and the bad)- but when it's all done I find there's always a moment of solidarity for us to spend together. He knows our hearts, and my messages are nothing new to him, but I truly believe he values the keeping of an active line of communication between us. I think you may have been getting at a similar thing when you were talking about the your subjective experience of God. The verse "...Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed." frequently comes to my mind. Just by regularly talking to the lord and having faith, he helps guide my frame of mind as I take my next steps. I find he speaks to me through those very moments, and quiets my mind. I hope you're doing well, and if you still struggle even in personal prayers, I hope you too may be able to open and maintain an active line of communication with the Lord.
I’m having trouble remembering a face to go with this TH-cam handle name. But thank you for the kind comments. Much of my prayers as of late have not had words, much like an attention in silence in the direction of the divine. That has been part of the wrestling, refusing to let go until I get a new name for this season. I’ve been posting audio content on my podcast for about a year and a half now. Just started with the video a few months ago. I’m glad you found it! And thank you again for the kind words.
Fuck yea
The Kingdom of the sky (heaven) is within you 🔥
It's not just human egotism, but human ego. Look up the concept of "immortality projects". People are afraid of questions inherited religious and cultural notions that have become deep structures in their psyche. Idolatry and dogmatic thinking are things that can affect both progressives and conservatives, this is very true and I see it myself all the time. Tribalism and mimetic rivalry are real temptations. And it's necessary to understand for engaging in actual dialogue.
Dr Oord, You are very brave and I appreciate the clarity and heart that you display while modeling a truly loving attitude towards LGBTQ+ people. I think it will be a relief for people to evolve into an inclusive attitude towards queer peolpe because, as you said, a loving attitude is so important in a spiritual life. As long as we're excluding people from this love, the world suffers. I do recommend that you take a close look at the current medical practice of giving children hormones and puberty blockers and surgeries. The cases of true gender dysphoria are actually quite rare. Children are very vulnerable and malleable, and the forces of social media as well as peer influence have turned the transgender process into a fad .There are many transgender young people who regret their actions and seek to detransition now. Also parents whose children were secretly groomed by activists were denied the right to be actively involved with their child's process. It's a very complex issue deserving attention and thought. In England the National Health Institute closed down their Children's Gender Clinic because tons of parents are suing them. I will send you references in another. comment.
I appreciate your comments of support for LGBTQ+ as well as acknowledging the complexity of hormone treatments in kids. I have a former coworker whose son was quite short. They put him on hormone blockers to give him a chance to grow more. (I guess growth typically slows during puberty?) I fear that the laws being passed now don't reflect the complexity of the situation. While I fear kids making gender transition choices before they are able to make that informed decision, I have also heard from people who as adults are grateful for the gender care they did receive as a teen. As you say, it is complicated.
🐂💩
Ya idk dude. This is like how I thought of conservatives when I was in high school kind of seems like a shallow take.
then why does every asian country hate the other asian countries. also asians are very racist towards black people!
??????!really
Prior to WWII, Aryan was the accepted term for white people for anyone with even a moderate education.
I was playing guitar and was so confused why I kept hearing notes o wasn't playing, great video tho
