Understanding Islamic Psychology and Holistic Wellbeing w/ Dr Abdallah Rothman
The Six Degrees Podcast is dedicated to amplifying the diverse voices within our Muslim community who have lived experiences with mental health. Through heartfelt stories and unique lessons, our guests openly share their personal journeys, to create understanding and connection. We also invite esteemed scholars and community leaders to provide their insights on mental health and Islamic psychology, bridging faith and well-being. Join us as we explore the intersection of mental health and spirituality, creating a supportive space for dialogue, healing, and growth.
In a world where psychology is taught, practiced and passed down through a western framework, the need for it to be reframed within an Islamic context is essential for it to be accepted and applied by the muslim community. Islam, with a history rich in explaining and exploring the soul, must be the foundation of understanding the self. Within this episode, filmed live at a Six Degrees event, we hope that Dr. Abdallah Rothman's expertise and profound insights will equip listeners with a deeper understanding of the self, the tools for personal growth, and a unique perspective on mental health within the Islamic framework.

The book the sister has on her website has no real details I think, or a even little example to preview...? :) Allah bless and guide us ameen.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the patience to listen to this whole thing even on 2x speed. However, JazakAllah for speaking on this especially as a Muslim woman. InshaAllah you could have a black Muslimah on here to speak on life with ADHD. It’s such a different experience as a BIPOC regarding mental health. The Muslim perspective narratives are unfortunately dominated by Arab Muslims, even though they are the minority.
What’s bipoc please
me too, i’ve been listening to it bit by bit. i would recommend doing that because there is helpful and comforting information here. i’m only 18 minutes in and i already feel more understood and seen
