In Union of India & Ors. v. Saroj Devi, the Supreme Court upheld the Armed Forces Tribunal’s decision granting Liberalised Family Pension (LFP) to the widow of Naik Inderjeet Singh, who died in extreme conditions near the LoC during Operation Rakshak. The Court criticized the Union of India for prolonging her struggle and imposed a ₹50,000 cost for dragging her to court.
