William was a great writer and poet, he was just ahead of his time so no one back then was ready for it.
Spike was always punk just took time for people to realise it.
As much as a you know what as he is, he's right. History is written in blood and it's written by the winners.
Spike should give a talk to all the woke people!
Love you spike
Why wasn't Spike killed by the wooden arrows?
The wood has to go through the heart. Lots of stakes seemed to miss the heart, but the director didn't always follow this part of vampire lore.
Astounding.... with Love
as much as they pertrayed spike as the punk rock vampire who doesn't give a shit, i think this was the true spike a man with a deep emotions and poet soul
Yea hard to argue basically except that you did something assholey kids and move on. It is funny that it is coming from someone who is from the place that did conquer the natives
I love how Spike's ability to write poetry is still unchanged after 100 years, despite picking up skills like hacking a computer.
I mean he could probably get ChatGPT to write him some poetry today.
I don’t normally agree with Spike about…well, anything…but he has a point. Willow is being pretty stupid and naive here. This Native American spirit watched his tribe and his people get wiped out violently and viciously by invaders, of which they are all descendants of, or living off their spoils. And she thinks she can reason with him?? 😆 Willow, babe, I thought you were the smart one! There’s nothing to talk about as far as he’s concerned. It’s kill or be killed. You gotta pick which one. Unless you feel so bad about something that happened centuries before you were born that you’re willing to let him kill you and your friends, pick up a damn weapon! 😆
Happy Thanksgiving
Love you & very shiny thank you.
This is what they don't want you to believe in.
What's funny is what Drusilla said was glowing and gleaming was Spikes soul. 100 years later Spike finally got the respect he deserved.
it was good they had this be the last thing he does before the fight, because this is the true him, william the poet. sadly back in the day he grew up poetry wasn't appreciated as much with words people chose to use
You cut out the best part! "The Wanton Folly Of Me Mum"!
I think effulgent is also what he’s referring to in s7 e3 when he asks Buffy “what’s a word that’s means glowing? It’s gotta rhyme…” I never realized how much they referenced it till now.
Yes good observation. He was losing his mind and I think all his lives were clashing in his head at once. Buffy was his light..so I thought it was a nice touch they connected his poem, with the word "effulgent" baring so much weight on what drove him to vampirism, to Buffy. He also said that to her in S6 Hell's Bells after they broke up. He tells her how he likes seeing her happy for friends..."You glow"...is what he said to her. 😍
"If we could talk to him...", he's a Spirit of Vengeance, revenge is all he cares about now, talking won't do anything.
Ebulgent becomes a bulge in it. Which works with the accent.
William finally comes into his own as Spike, the poet.
Man Spike went through a really low key phase in the 50s.
Listen "a bulge in it" is a bad line but the rest of the poem fucking slaps.
William the Lovely
Love this speech. He said "attitude" in his American accent though - 0:41
lol apparently he claims it got better as the show went on. lol I noticed it too though.
Spike is always the voice of reason, can't change history. What happened happened.
Its almost like he's seen a thing or two being an immortal vampire.
Leave it to the hungry or thirsty soulless vampire to tell it like it is heads or tails end of the story
Hello Michael, found your video on the QAstack forum. Did you end up solving this? I need to use the long number as a number, to run some operations as vlookup for example. Would be great to hear back from you. Thanks!
When Spike is the only voice of reason in the whole gang. Like what, they think those tribes didn't conquer and raid and take stuff by force too?
Spike, for some reason, is often the voice if reason
"Sure, No Problem."
the long game...
Lol! I just realized that's Drucila!
Can you imagine that conversation? Your only appearance this season will be you dressed up like for 1950s Italy saying ciao for a few seconds, and that will be your day.
@@Jeezes718 she was also in that episode about the Immortal
@@cosmicactivity299 oh right I forgot about that one.
@@Jeezes718 no it was two. First was the flashback episode to when she introduced Spike to Angelus, and then The Immortal episode.
Haaaaa yeah Dru looked so sane and normal here, she seemed almost hard to recognize!
I've seen folks write that he was actually called William the Bloody and Spike b/c his poetry was 'bloody awful,' and made folks want to put a 'spike in my head.' But I think that after he became a vampire, he sought revenge and went back to all those who mocked him to give them a new definition of William the Bloody and to fulfill their 'wish' of having a spike put in their heads.
Why is there a 'but' there? What folks said doesn't clash against your interpretation... it all fits
@@Onigirli Would you prefer a however ?
his poems didnt belong in that era, they belong in this one
yeah we view poetry diffent now then back then
Spike sure looked sharp in the 50’s.
I love Spike's sarcasm and vampiric personality
You know..... I always wish Spike had sang, or poem'd for Lorne..... I think that would've been a special moment
GO SPIKE GO
He was not a awful poets person there
it is intersting i do believe we have more appreciation for poetry than people from back then
Hahaha!
Besides being a great scene (and IMHO a better ending for the character than he got in Chosen), I always liked the irony that he was literally following Angel's instructions to "live the day as if it were your last" to the letter as he literally did the exact same thing he did on the last day of his human life.
But the second time around, people actually liked his poetry. lol
it's cool you made that connection, i never thought about it that way
@@Serenity113 unlike back then i think we have a bigger appreciation of poetry now regardless of wording
My spell check is so dumb, it doesn't believe that word exists. Keeps changing it to effluent.
Was the poem he performed onstage the same one?
Yes, it's the same
Good for Spike having the courage to perform his poetry in front of a live audience. He probably hadn't done it for an awful long time due to the bad reception he would get from poets of his times. I like to think Angel inspired him to write poetry again after he admitted to him how much he loved his poems way back from when they were both evil, which is the only thing Angel ever liked about Spike.
Hey, I don't want to over-promote my stupid fanboy videos, but , since you are Negan, did you see th-cam.com/video/wytg3vdxQQI/w-d-xo.html ?
@@michaelplevy who is this bitch that just killed my men?!!. She is a badass! She oughta be on my team man because I am hella IN LOVE, it's making Lucille here jealous that she's ready to off one of her guys.. what's that Lucille?.... She saying she wants that dorky kid in the hawaiian shirt
In all probability he did it number of times since Angel heard them, yet likely his critics probably didn't end up living afterwards.

Sorry Spike, but Billy Idol is still a better poet even though he stole your look.
Nope
Dru knew Spike was going to have a soul. Lol
This Scene is so Strange and funny!
