1999 Grady White 272 Sailfish repowered with 2023 Yamaha F200xb counter rotating engines. These are 4 cylinder fourstoke engines. Put 80 hours on in 2 months!! Excellent power for this hull! Very fuel efficient and the performance has been impressive.

Yamaha OX66 Trim and Tilt repair
มุมมอง 10K3 ปีที่แล้ว
1999 Yamaha 225hp OX66 trim and tilt end cap and seal replacement. I was originally going to only replace the seals but decided to just replace the end caps too. This is my first time doing this job. It was not too hard. I Used the spanner wrench tool from marine tech with a piece of plumbing pex and a vice grip to keep the wrench seated.

    By the looks of your lower unit, you have a fair amount of corrossion already.

  • @vincentfederico1585
    @vincentfederico1585 ปีที่แล้ว

    Glad it held up for you. More importantly, if you use your motor in salt water, you should not go to long without pulling the drive shaft case. They can get quite corroded and can be a big pain to get it out.

  • @vincentfederico1585
    @vincentfederico1585 ปีที่แล้ว

    You needed to pull the prop shaft case to replace the O-rings to do the job correctly.

      They tend to lose oil that way, it will hold oil better if you install the inner seal spring side to the oil and the outer spring side out to water. I no longer find low oil installing this way. I've seen too many with low oil level and burnt oil with no explanation for it so this direction works better. th-cam.com/video/-Pa8_Jkk1wc/w-d-xo.html

    I just drained the engine oil on my Suzuki df70 and saw a very faint white in with the oil color. I did hit a rock with the prop. Guessing this might be my issue. Question is, I used the engine for about an hour or two in low RPMS after since noticing this. The white was so light, do you think my engine is safe? Took it to the dealer where they are going to charge me my soul to find out what it is and fix. Any help here would be nice…. Thank you! 💪🏼

      Engine oil has no influence on lower unit. Gear oil in lower unit gets milky if seals are damaged.
