We're Clifton and Leigh. Midlife Meander (me and her) documents the 40-ish real-life travels of South Africa's latest TH-camrs, known elsewhere in the social space as Commander Andrews and Rambling Litchi (AKA The Milkshake Queen). A beautifully constructed video, well done 👍🏻
Thank you Craig! I must admit we were not expecting all the positive feedback what with us being absolute TH-cam newbies! Keep watching!
Id be Surprised if Little John or John Little. Popped from under a Bridge , Hes Buried in the Church Graveyard in Haversage Derbyshire Mate .
After doing some research myself, I can confirm! Thanks for the interesting tidbit Maxwell, and thanks for all the interactions 😉
@MidlifeMeander I Live in Derbyshire just outside the Peak District. I've visited Haversage and Taken my Kids .Don't 100% know if True .but I Really enjoyed your videos of you and your Wife exploring the UK my Friend.
Great videos what drone do you use for the shots?
Thanks Mick. We use the baby little drone, the Dji Mini II SE. Very impressed with it!
@MidlifeMeander that's great footage I've just got myself the mini 4k that's the updated version of the SE havn't had a chance to fly it yet till tomorrow. Happy Christmas and I'm looking forward to the next video. I seen you like a pint I'm from liverpool and you would have loved our city with everything on offer hopefully you visit us next time you visit.
Looks like an epic adventure 🤩
You'd love it 😜 keep watching for our return trip!
Wow that was breathtaking. Your 1st set of aqueducts was dual. For trains too?
Thanks Erato! Yes, the aqueduct for boats (and pedestrians) and the adjacent viaduct for trains😊
Nothing like a combo of City and Country side travels. Catching up. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching ! ☺️
The clouds are like ice blocks in the sky. Your walk under the Aqueduct sure put everything in perspective (didn't need to use your head there 😂). Keep trekking.
Thank you. To think if we had got to the Bridge Inn an hour later we probably would not have done that trek 😐
Extremely enjoyable! Looks like you are having a blast and more than one beer i hope . Cheers 🍻
We had a blast! Alas the exchange rate between our countries was such that it was very expensive for us... 1 beer per pub was the absolute limit we could afford 🤣 Also, needed to keep in mind we were in control of a 14 ton water vehicle (albeit very slow). Thanks for watching!
Nicely done! DiL is South African and l am telling her of you adventures. Glad you enjoyed your visit to my homeland Wales
Thank you! We are so envious of your homeland! More to come!
@MidlifeMeander Look forward to it...
I'd be disappointed if you didn't support SA .I'm English so I always support England. Unless it's a British Lions Tour .
Right you are! Go Bokke, our blood is green (and gold) 💚💛
@MidlifeMeander And Neither should it be any Else. The Soil makes you Loyal. My Father was Scottish my Mother English. So it can get confused. But I'm Derbyshire by Birth so Derbyshire all the way.
My South African Friend Bangers and Mash , is not a Sunday Dinner or Roast Dinner. I Like Bangers and Mash but if I went a Sunday Roast Dinner. and was served Bangers and Mash I would not be a Happy Chappy .Especially if I was paying for it.
The dish is actually not that common here in SA so we take every opportunity. 😋 But we were so pleased with our full Sunday roast dinner at the beautiful Bridge Inn pub.
This was brilliant. So scared of those aqueducts but you handled them like pros! That lunch was epic!
Nothing to be scared of if you take things slowly and remember to breathe! 😉 A truly delicious pub lunch it was, mmm...
Good commentary and smooth boating .
Great to have you back with us again! Still lots of exciting moments to come! 😊
Very entertaining guys!! Well done ❤ wish we could travel with you!!! 😅
Thank you! 😀Keep watching, vid 3 of this series just went live...
That was Windsor Central!! We have 2 train stations in Windsor!!!
Indeed you do. Maybe we'll visit the other station in our next vid! 🙃
I assume you know about the other South African couple Duo Vagari that are building their own widebeam inside and out to restore I think fire damaged or rusty boat. Thoroughly enjoyed your blog well done and amusing.whst attracted you to UK and canal boating?❤
Thank you Sandra! Will certainly give the Duo and look see. First found out about canal boating years ago from Kara & Nates channel. Been wanting to do this ever since. Thanks for following along!😊
Rules are made to be broken
Lol we didn't have much of a choice though. It was either get there or we go hungry. Folk at the boathouse figured we would make it easily. Maybe we were traveling too slow at the beginning. Thanks for watching 😃
Im enjoying seeing your journey along the Canal. Ive worked on the Chesterfield Canal in Derbyshire. But never been on a Narrow Boat .
Thanks Maxwell! Do you work for the river & canal trust? They're doing great work. ☺️
@MidlifeMeander Yes I did Volunteering on Chesterfield Canal their going to open it all up again Right to the Trent in Nottingham. But unfortunately I became unwell.
@MidlifeMeander I'm a Great believer in Saving our Heritage, Especially early Industrial Revolution history and obviously the Canal system was the beginning of this .Until the Advent of the Steam Engine now used for Leisure of course like You and your Lovely Wife did .
Not a very good review. Its just you talking with pictures thrown inbetween. No actual footage of you eating your breakfast or doing anything else. Too many cuts which are very abrupt.
Sorry you feel that way Liz. Not everyone is going to love our style. 😉
Really enjoying the videos! Hope you had a lovely time here in the UK.
We're really jealous of your country by the way. Hope to be back very soon. Next vid coming in a matter of days 😉
Enjoy Xx
Thank you! We certainly did 😎
Chocolate milk in your coffee , euggh .
Such a treat! Not used to so many flavour options
What a refreshing video! Love it Leigh
Thank you! If you found THIS refreshing wait for our next episode where we traverse some of the world's highest aqueducts! 😱
Love the drone work!! Amazing job! ❤
Thank you! Using drone shots while keeping the scene flowing is an art in itself. But enjoying the challenge. 😉
Loving your videos. So looking forward to more!
Thank you! More to come!
Loving your videos, but where are the MILKSHAKES!❤❤
Milkshakes were a rare treat given the exchange rate but I can promise there will be at least 1 in this series... Keep watching 😉
Loved “travelling with” Leigh and Hubcap 🤣. Look forward to more posts!
Thank you! Great to have you along!
As a one time narrow boat user. I would never cruise the canals in winter. That is hard.
Our cruise was between 8 & 15 November, the locals say we were lucky with the weather. We found it very pleasant and the canals were generally quiet. Only drawback was the amount of leaves in the canal slowing down the prop.
@@MidlifeMeander Well I am glad you had a good time. I miss mooring up outside a pub on a warm summer late afternoon, lying in the grass with a pint of beer.

How the heck can you put chocolate milk in your coffee? Wonder how many people thought the milk was strange?
You're the first to comment on this! It's actually quite a sophisticated choice... a mocha, if you will 😉
@MidlifeMeander thanks but no thanks, think I won't actually!
@@viviennedelaney5255 I've actually mixed a spoonful of cocoa with my coffee before. Don't knock it till you try it 😉

Great first video - thank you for making it - very enjoyable! 👍🏻
Thank you Chairmaker! We've been pleasantly surprised by the positive response!
I live in Ellesmere which the Times and Sunday Times newspapers voted one of the top six places to live in the midlands 2022. Travel content creators always miss the opportunity to get some great extra content when narrowboating through here.
We're envious that you live there! We want to tour that side of the world in a motorhome sometime soon and will certainly give Ellesmere the justice it deserves. Thanks for watching!
Brilliant video. Loved it. Thankyou. Inspires me to give a canal boat trip a go sometime.
You should! There are about 3000km of canal in the UK to explore. We only did 30km.😄
Wonderful! Looking forward to more videos.
Great to see you're coming along for the journey Cranky! But first, coffee!
Magical! I can’t wait for the next video
Thank you! The next video will not disappoint! ;)
Best of Luck
Thanks Cranky!
Why would anyone build a castle under the Heathrow approach? 😂😂
😂 Silly architects from the year 1070. Surely they would have thought about the 747s.
@@MidlifeMeanderprobably the same reason a train station is named after a bear.
You're pros at this travel lark!
Lark lark lol
Well. This is the first vlog I have seen on a long boat vacation. This is going to be very educational for me! Looking forward to this very much.
@@georgedyson9754 Great to have you along for the ride!
Wow so lovely, I felt like I was there with you. Enjoying this so much!!!
Thank you! I was wearing the warm pants
In awe of your walk at Windsor after your very long flights the previous day, albeit with no time jet lag! Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.
Thank you! Yes, even for an aviation enthusiast I really didn't enjoy the flight (in economy) BUT as you say flying the north/south route at least eliminated the JET lag effect. Look out for the next episode! :)
Shorts and sandals? Someone really messed up with the packing.
Oh don't worry. Mother-in-law made SURE we packed all our woolies. But it was only 8° so I was totally comfortable.
Welcome! I'm glad you seem to be enjoying yourselves in the UK. (The tower at Westminster is called the Queen Elizabeth Tower. "Big Ben" is the largest bell inside the tower - many folks make the same mistake)
Thank you Mr Brown, that's good to know. I believe it was being refurbished until quite recently. We were lucky to see it looking so good.
@@MidlifeMeander I wouldn't worry about it, the whole world knows it as Big Ben, Some people may correct you, but it's unlikely you'll be thrown in the Tower for getting it wrong. Incidentally, the cavalryman in the red cloak at "Horse Guards" is a "Lifeguard" one of two regiments in the Household Cavalry, the "Blues & Royals " are the other. You could've seen them changing if you'd been there on the hour, they change every hour. If you were there at 4pm, you would've seen the 4 O'Clock Punishment Parade, ordered to be held for 99 years, by Queen Victoria, when she found several soldiers drunk on duty. It's well over 99 years now, but they enjoy doing it so much they begged to be allowed to carry on. ......I lied they do it for the tourists.
@@nicksykes4575 OMG... the Punishment Parade? Sounds fascinating! I will look up more on this. Thanks for the comment!
you should have come in the spring, much nicer.
100% agree. We'll definitely be back to experience the spring side of the year 😉
Thank you for sharing and so glad you’re having fun here.
Thanks, envious of your city we are ;)
Love this!!!!!!
Thanks B! Welcome on board!
Glad to see you missed the storm! looks like a super chilled time 😎
JUST missed it! Travel warnings were making headlines as we flew out - watch to see what happened next... 😉
Great to have you on board! (spoiler alert!)
Love the commentary! Looking forward to the next one! 👏🏼
Yay! Coming to a screen near you soon! 🤪
Very soon !!!
Very nice guys. I love that main street in London but it's crazy busy. Beautiful around Christmas time
Lol We got stuck in almost every corner shop.
So cute, looking forward to next one!!!🎉
Yay! Thank you! Keep your peepers peeled... 👀
Lovely to be able to experience your holiday .
So lovely for us too, to share it with all of you and also relive it by putting this together! ⏪
